Victor laughed and waved away the concern. "Oh no, no. Please don't be worried about me. I am prepared. Besides, most likely he's only trying to hide somewhere the bounty hunters wouldn't be looking. I'm sure it's not as serious as all that."

Sap oozed across the floor and ash floated in the still air like black snow in the ethereal glow. From the floor Max raised his head. Everywhere lay the corpses of the plant creatures, some blackened and burned, others in pieces strewn about the room. Max rose and swiftly patted himself down in search of some wound he had missed.

"I just had a wonderful idea." Squeak said. "Me and Sherry can go to my shop and I can get to know my new sister in law while you and your son go see the city and probably get arrested again." She said. "Those charges never stuck and it was Sparkbolt's idea in the first place!" Richard quickly added. "Cause they never found the boar." Squeak replied before turning back to Sherry. "What do you say?" She asked her.

Richard nodded at Sherry and stepped forward. "Squeak, who's watching your shop?" He asked and she gasped. "Oh no oh no oh no. I completely forgot that's not good at no no no. It's was nice to meet you two please stop by sometime and good luck meeting mom a word of advice if you change into anything other then human please don't do it in front of her." She said shaking both there hands then ran off to the shop. Richard watched her leave before turning back to Sherry and his son. "I'm really sorry about her." He said to them.

As the reached the bottom of the footpath they began to see more viscerally the result of the jailbreak. Here and there lay scattered and abandoned barricades, many half submerged in the ooze of a swamp. Corpses left out to rot by the frantically retreating and advancing lay scattered about haphazardly, many missing much of their clothing from looters. Yet it lacked the somewhat 'ordered' chaos of a battlefield. This was a rout, a frantic and random battle not between two sides, but between pursuers and those in flight. Some had died even as they fought, locked in battle by rigour mortis like grim statues of flesh.
Revanchis looked about this with disdain as he walked. "Pathetic," he snorted. He gestured at their surroundings. "Look at thith? Thith ith what happenth when there'th no dignity to war. Hah! Utheleth thlaughter. Tho thcattered it'th even enough for me to bother with the energy of reviving them." He snapped his fingers and a skeleton in a scarlet sash clattered to his side.
"Master?" the undead wheezed.
"Take thome troopth and find a cart. Thtart gathering up corptheth ath you follow. We'll make thomething of them when we have enough to bother," he commanded. The skeletal soldier bowed and shuffled away.

Leo had been busy knee deep and rooting through some brush. At Loki's voice he looked up. "Eh?"

"No, no. She seemed lovely," Sherry hastily reassured him. "She was just a...little overwhelming, I think. I'm sure she's lovely. I just need to get used to her, I think."
Richard didn't share his opinion. He kept his eyes averted, still shaken from seeing the gnome again, and feeling oddly criminal that she had seen him when he had entered the bag. He found himself hoping she would say nothing to his father.

The jungle stretched around them in its immensity. Immense tree trunks grew like pillars on the rocky jungle floor, the sunlight seeming to take an emerald tint as it fell free from the heavy canopy above. The road snaked through all these at a crawling, winding way as it surmounted mountains and cliffs, yet always conforming to the general landscape which it crawled. The whole place had a very organic and living presence. Animals skittered and chirped all about, though they rarely showed themselves.
The party had grown silent during the trek, so much so that when Anariss abruptly stopped Victor with a hand on his shoulder, she didn't explain verbally. Rather, she merely pointed down a hard packed trail breaking from the main road. A gloom seemed to overhang this trail, every tree bordering it showing signs of ill use. Victor nodded and turned down it.

As they moved down the trail it could not be helped noticing that their surroundings had begun to change. Where before there had only been dense undergrowth, it now rose and clung to shattered masonry which was beginning to appear more frequently the deeper they passed. Once white, the stone was now a light grey where it was not covered in vines or moss. Victor observed these with as much mild curiosity as Anariss did with scorn and distaste.

Abruptly, or so it seemed, the trees fell away and the group were confronted by Dire Maul. The jungle clung cancerously to the immense grey stones and shattered buildings, and an air of venerability and antiquity surrounded them. They stood at the mere fringe of the city, but though broken the outer shell of the once metropolis expressed a grandeur that was hard to dismiss. Victor looked about the weed choked walls and broken pillars with an evident interest, Anariss with a certain satisfaction at the sight of the city being swallowed by the jungle.

"That sounds lovely," Sherry said, following Richard meekly, overwhelmed by the strangeness of the city. She kept flashing glances at the high stone ceiling, as if afraid it might fall in on her at any moment.

Richard led the two threw the crowd and down another tunnel and as the crowds began to separate they exited into another section of the city mostly comprised of one massive stone building with giant pillars holding up a overhang above the large open doors. The place was quite compared the hustle and bustle of the forges with small groups around the library in conversation. "This is the largest library in the eastern kingdoms." He said stepping aside so the others could view.

"She and her sisters usually hang out with my sisters. So I have no clue how she got here." He said.
