In the event you want to go pve rather than pvp, an arcane mage with tier 5 gear will be way ahead of a boomkin druid. But also a boomkin joins a t5+ raiding guild more for the crit bonus rather than the actual damage imo.

moonkins arent wanted
Pure bullcrap
Moonkins do enough dps, but they give their party members a +5% crit chance, which helps all casters do much more damage, plus holy paladins that use crits to regenerate mana.
Also note that moonkins can shapeshift out, and heal if needed.
