The only time i could even find this remotely applicable would be if you have a fight requiring 3 tanks and for some reason all of them are going down at the same time and you're the only one that can heal them.
Bacon costs too much mana for it to be worthwhile.

I guess I'm trying to understand why you would do it.
Beacon of Light
is 35% base mana and
Holy Light
is 29% base mana. You use more mana changing the Beacon than casting another HL.

I get it in theory. It's any two raid members you feel like getting one holy light each in the span of a GCD + however long it takes you to faceroll your beacon button. If you were planning on switching beacon anyway this can cause two targets to gain healing in 1.5 seconds rather than 3 (I'm ignoring haste to keep it simple).
Would I count on this considering all of the other latency issues, my hilarious fps in 25 mans, and the fact that there are several other healers? No, probably not, but I like it in theory.

The idea is this:
0.0 Cast HL
1.5 HL Lands
1.55 Bacon is switched
1.6 Previous and New bacon target gets healed
3.05 2nd GCD ends.
Without the bacon switching it would be this:
0.0 Cast HL
1.5 HL lands
1.55 Cast HL #2
3.05 HL #2 lands
The difference is that the healing goes out 1.5 seconds earlier with the "buggy" method but it also costs another 6% base mana. And if you're unlucky you're gonna have to switch your bacon target again afterwards which makes it completely retarded.

I understand what you're trying to suggest. It's not a *bad* idea, but it's not *great* either. I say that because the first thing that popped up in my mind was, for the OT(s) to suddenly take such a large hit so suddenly, they probably had a dedicated healer on them anyway. Case in point: Marrorgar's Saber Lash. That thing can be brutal to the OT's sometimes.
Now, in a situation that it might work in the above example where said dedicated healer died, you would blow through your mana so quickly that you may not last until the end of the encounter. If you were in the last -10%, you might be able to pull it off... if you're lucky.
You know how most reasonable folks would treat this idea, we don't like to dictate raid success to luck. I'm not trying to downplay the suggestion, it certainly could be a hell of a clutch if properly executed, but I won't be finding a place to try and practice it aka potentially fail and cost the gbank in repairs.

You can experiment with it outside of dungeons/raids. Just get a couple of people in Dalaran to help you out - that'll simulate the lag.

I beleive this should work, technicaly.
Its the same as casting Exorcism on an unaware mob and spamming Hand of Reckoning in the meantime. Both will do damage.

Wouldn't that just mean that the original beaconed target loses the heal?

I couldn't see this as optimal unless you know tank B is going to get killed quickly... its split second knoledge and the moral of the story is.. Only you can prevent Forest fires. You make the choice of whether its needed or not to waste more mana on the target, I would rather heal the tank B then Y with A still beaconed for mana efficiency and &*!@y thoughts of "I have enuf time for it"

It is a nice trick, but I don't see the value added, just spaming HL is easy.
