For a twink? Or just levelling?
With the Living Root you're getting 20hp and 6 damage.
With the Crescent Staff you're getting 70hp, 2 damage and 105 mana.
I would say Crescent though. While leveling if you can't get good +damage gear just get anything of "the eagle" "intellect" or "the owl" that you can find. 4 intellect = 1 damage.
