23 Canopic Jars and I finally got the recipe. I only had two rare builds, neither were the mount either. I may keep farming for the mount. ;)

24 jars on one toon, nothing. Dropped alch on him.

Picked it up on another toon leveled arch and first one had the recipe...

so technically 25 jars before the recipe.

This isn't a forum regarding questions to Vial of the Sands, it's to collect data of the drop rate. This isn't the place for miscellaneous inquiries about the Vial, please refer to Vial of the Sands. Let's try and keep this thread dedicated to what it was intended for; that is, determining the drop rate of the Vial of the Sands recipe.

im working on this right now i will let you know what i find i have also determined that its cheaper to make it your self as 4 of the 6 reagents can be made by the alchemist leaving two that have to be bought. Ive also made a list of all the materials needed and how many of each to make the amount of the 4 reagents needed to make the vial of the sands if anyone wants the breakdown of it let me know and ill send it to you so you have the list to use as a check list. it will also include the list of locations where most abundant and drops and profession levels required as well as the best drops that has the best probability without going into raids or dungeons to find. if you want dungeon locations too then ask and ill do the research for you.

I was lucky and got it today on my 4th jar! But fwiw jars were awfully few and far between, I leveled from early 86th to mid 88th at 525+ SL doing virtually nothing but Archaeology for about 2.3 levels and like I said I only got 4 jars which seemed a bit low imo.

I leveled Alch right before cata came out just for this mount.

First ally to get it (on first jar) make it, (was 40k at the time) and /mountspecial around the city with an enlarge potion on.
