Amplify curse

When is amplify curse normally used? before curse of doom? im not going to spec into it for a while, but im still curious as to where it can be best used.

In PvP, it is most often used in front of Curse of Exhaustion to keep melee away from you.
In instances, it is usually used with Curse of Doom on bosses.
In leveling, it can be used effectively with Curse of Agony. The hard part I always had was remembering to use the dang thing...
