Alliance = Good, Horde = Bad?

Spill over discussion from M'uru.
It is assumed the blood elves are now blessed with the powers of the Light, rather then taking it by force.
So, if now the Blood Elves are going to be 'blessed' with the Holy Light as a power, and saught forgiveness from A'dai - not to mention Velen apparently knowing about this - What does this mean for Blood Elf-Draenai relations? It seems to me that Blizzard is making it harder on themselves to justify at least some of the faction hostility between the two.
At the very least, it would take away from the agression that Blood Knights tended to have in their attitude in their stories and quests. The jerks. :P (I don't know if, in 2.4, any of that has toned down as I am not on the test server. I've heard alot of it hasn't, but Blood Elves now speak much less kindly about Kael.)
Anyone who thinks of the Alliance as "good" and the Horde as "evil" has paid no attention to any of the lore throughout the entire game.
Each faction has its own distinct values. The Alliance believes the Horde to be wholly evil and brutally violent, but the Horde shows far more emphasis on honor and courage than does the Alliance.
QFT right up yonder.
The Alliance is built on races that hold the same values. Hatred of demonic forces, shared losses, and things like that.
The Horde is built on the idea of shared goals, each race trying to build a better future for itself and relying on the other races of the Horde for the sake of furthering the whole's causes.
Alliance
Humans: Vain, Coc-ky, Noble
Gnomes: Boastful, Very Intelligent, Curious.
Dwarves: Cheerful, Competitive, Rugged
Night Elfs: Humble, Nature loving, Seekers of Justice
Draenei: Saintly, Respectful, Followers of the Light
Horde:
Orcs: Courageous, Honorable, Lustful
Trolls: Sneaky, Tribal, Hospitable
Tauren: Nature Loving, Humble, Respectful
Forsaken: Powerful, Fearless, Devious
Blood Elves: Self Absorbed, Addicted, Somewhat Rude
As you can see each race brings its own set of values and attitudes to its respective faction. No one attitude symbolizes the faction.
Please, correct me if nessesary. I made the list from an Alliance perspective based on classes, NPC dialogue, and racial abilities.
Edit: Coc-ky is blocked by Wowhead for obvious reasons, please understand.
Well I'll be blunt and point out that the Night Elves in particular have a very, very dark history that'd put even the modern Blood Elves to shame.
It's true what you say, however. All comes down to perspective.
I for one find it rather ironic how humans can round up Orcs and place them in internment camps, and yet come off as the "good and righteous" of the two. :P
"I for one find it rather ironic how humans can round up Orcs and place them in internment camps, and yet come off as the "good and righteous" of the two. :P"
Anyone who has played Warcraft II will know that the orcs ravaged and destroyed the human kingdoms (manipulated by demonic energies as they were). According to the lore, many humans were killed in righteous defense of their homelands. In my opinion, it was a generous thing for humanity to permit former orc warriors to survive, as opposed to putting them down like the beasts they acted as.
Because clearly being manipulated by demons means you should be put to death "like beasts."
The Alliance didn't know what the orcs used to be like, only what they had become. When you remember that the very first impression of orcs for Azeroth was one in line with Warhammer's greenskins, it becomes easier to see how some might have trouble believing that the race was able to turn away from being savage destroyers and demon worshipers to noble tribes and shaman. This is compounded by the fact that Durotar is a continent away from the main bastions of human strength, and that the orcs that live closest to lands like Stormwind and Ironforge belong to the Dark Horde or the Dragonmaw Clan, who retain Old Horde qualities.
"Blood Elves: Self Absorbed, Addicted, Somewhat Rude"
Am i the only one that disagrees with that?Belfs are honourfull, Too Proud, Somewhat selfish.
The alliance were the good guys but since arthas was lich king and the problems in azeroth somewhat faded the alliance and the horde are just 2 tribes who hate eachother.
the alliance and the horde are just 2 tribes who hate eachother. The correct term is Faction.

To me, alliance where mostly the fascists (we're better than the others, order shall prevail through fire and blood, ...), while horde where the barbarians.
I still ended up on alliance side because of friends.

The Scourge is evil. The Qiraji are evil. The Burning Legion is evil. Period.

Both factions have done unspeakable acts of cruelty.
The only race I hate is the undead. You take a human city, deficate it, warp it and wonder why humans attack you.
