If you are just stating out, try only a couple of addons. Also, check the date of the addon. Patch 2.4 just came out and many older addons will no longer work. Some of the older addons might still work but with you being new to addons, it's best to only use newer addons.
Just be careful when you download addons. Most of the addon sites should be safe from keyloggers but make sure your virus protection is up-to-date.
