Lynri, I need your help once again mate. I will say this much mate, I am tanking more often than ever now, and dpsing less. I have been running heroics regularly now, and got the heroic Axe from HOL, but now I am running into a serious problem, as I am replacing my blue gear with epic heroic gear. I am dropping in dps, my rotation is tighter than ever, but my dps is going lower and lower. Could it be that the Heroic gear has more ap/haste/armor Penn and less crit. Granted my expertise is only 15 which is a bit low, and my hit was over 8.5 percent, but I need to regem to get it back up there again. I see now how a new raiding DK can be better off in blood as all the gear and sigils pre-raid are bonus to blood/unholy dps and not frost. Here is my link. I know my crit is low and I am working on that, and my professions are ridiculously low (I have a good excuse limited playing time, and my skills as a tank have been getting me called to do heroics regularly) Here is my armory link. Please help me figure out my dps went from 2k in heroics to 1.7 now and in some cases 1.5k. My gear got better, but my dps went down. I have been attempting to better my gear up, and I know I could buff it with enchants, but enchanting a blue just seems like a giant waste to me lol.

I know I should probably be patient and wait till I get some better gear and raid gear, but whenever you see a significant drop in dps it throws me off.

I got the sphere and a few more hit gear related Items, and bammo and am now sitting at 9 percent hit and 19 expertise, getting a new weapon helped out alot lol. Also started tanking almost all the time, I simply informed the group that I was tanking as a favor but would be rolling need on any dps items that I may need. I got all the heroic epics I could and am well on my way to badging up my way to the appropriate gear.

On a side note, I am loving the idea of Blood Tapping and using the Rune Reset every time I can. I have started abusing it like crazy and my dps has taken a significant jump. I pushed 2.8 last night while running Heroics. I am still having trouble getting into raids as dps, simply because of the stigma on Frost being the tanking spec.

This will make your day. I was invited to Naxx 10 finally since I have no achievements yet on my DK, and still need some work on my gear. I am split epic/blues now, but I was told that they would allow me to come because they needed dps lol. I hate how people think because it's not epic it's worse. I have found numerous blues that are better than epics based on needed stats. I digress, so I went in and we are blowing through the Arachnid boss and then into Military Quarter. Wraith Spear dropped I won the Spear and then realized it wasn't better than the Axe that drops in HoL which I already have and because I am orc grants me plus 5 expertise so I gave it to the hunter in the group (was I correct in that assumption, I ended up with less of all stats if I went with Wraith Spear and only gained in Top End damage) . However, with all these epic guys around me I figured I would finish in 5 or 6th in dps.

Nope not true, I was 2nd in total damage, and 3rd in dps they were blown away, especially when they found out I was frost, which only the rogues noticed at first because of Icy Talons. However, I will admit on bosses I tossed in PS for kicks to see what it would do with my dps. I didn't notice anything and on the four horsemen it helped because when we did the switch it added to the damage done to the target as it moved. I didn't see any use on the mobs in the groups as they died to fast for any advantage to take affect, but pushing 2.4-3k dps in a 10 man raid with mostly blues I figure that was pretty good.

My question is this should I keep http://www.wowhead.com/?item=39221 even though it will cost me a loss in ap, crit, and expertise because of it's top end damage or stay with http://www.wowhead.com/?item=37852 because of the added other bonuses

I wish Cryptfiend would have dropped unfortunately it was Wraith Spear :P. Cryptfiend would be significantly nicer than Wraith Spear, however it was Wraith Spear ;p. Well if Blizzard hasn't taken the weapon from me yet, I will cancel the ticket and inform the hunter I will be keeping the weapon lol. I was thinking that Rune of the Fallen Crusader is better with Colossal than with Wraith?

As for frost dps doing well, most people have no idea I am frost until they ask how I am doing the Howling Blast damage lol. That and the usual isn't Unholy and Blood the dps specs? I always go sure, but Frost is the epic dps spec lol. Don't tell Nystali I added Plague Strike into my attack on certain bosses I dont' want to hear about it lol. But I figured on bosses that move it will help when I can't get to them especially 4 horseman, which is not a melee dps fight.

I didn't think about AMS, I am not specced into it. I tank as frost and dps as frost. I will probably change to Unholy tanking, just so I don't screw up and tank in dps spec anymore. Also my gear changer via wow is broken I can't save sets of gear. Stupid WoW! They wanted me to tank the Void guy, but it didn't end pretty.

Just so I am clear AMS = Anti Magic Shield down the Unholy tree right?

My brother sent me a link to a website called www.wowpopular.com I believe what they do is track the most popular build of each class. Number one for DeathKnights is Frost 17/51/3 lol, while blood is way way behind. I think it has alot to do with the giant group of horrible Blood dk's while leveling that most go Frost followed by Unholy

I have a story to regale of that just speaks as to how bad other frost dps are and why people hate frost dps more than unholy and blood. I think Frost played poorly shows a larger dps loss than the any other spec when missing a rotation or not hit capped. I did 25 man OS which is such a piece of cake that I was frankly shocked. I expected at least a mag or gruul type toughness to it, nope even easier You can get hit every single time by the flame waves and not die, which absolutely saddens me as to how all the technical knowledge is taken out of the game now, no need to CC or time moves or anything for 80 percent of the boss fights, anyways I am off topic. So we enter and there are 4 DK's, Myself Frost DK DPS half epics/half heroic blues, Unholy DK tank all epics no nice gear, One Blood DK specced all over the place, and one frost DK specced 17/51/3 just like me only one problem he was in all blues and greens with BoA gear being his best gear. At this moment, I knew we were in trouble.

Needless to really go into details, but as the instance wore on we found out just how bad the other dk's were, the Unholy DK and Prot Pali who were tanking were 8th and 9th in dps and damage and we were walking through the instance, why because the top 8 were all pulling over 3k dps while those under the tank were under 2.4k dps, (how you can do that in a 25 man and not wipe I don't know, this game is getting too easy). But here is the kicker, I am sitting at number one in total damage with 7.8 percent, next guy is a mage who I am battling with for first in dps and total damage the whole instance he is doing 3.89k dps I am doing 3.81k dps lol, that's how close it is. Hurray for frost dps once again proving viable.

Here is where I got upset at the other DK's, The Blood guy who was specced so poorly I wanted to slap him, but he was doing 2.2k dps. We had 7 paladins in the group every melee physical buff you can imagine was there, and he is pulling 2.2k dps in gear equal to mine. And was 18th in dps, followed by a shadow priest in heroic blues which is okay, however here is the part you will love. Where is our frost DK DPS with BoA gear? You got it dead last, by a huge margin. Take a wild guess at his dps I dare you. Now this is in a 25 man raid with insane physical buffs, he is doing 1.007k dps and his number one dps move was Death Coil and Death and Decay followed by melee.

What irked me is he won the gear that the rest of the plate melee were going for including me. They waited to see if I would fight for the gear, but I simply mentioned how bad it was to give gear like that to a noob, and no one said anything they just paused finally the raid leader said, yeah but it is a pug. I said, "I know but when you play that badly you can't expect to get gear, but give it to him because it is a pug." There was a 1 minute long pause as I think the raid leader wanted to figure out if it was worth giving it. It was at this point someone posted the damage meters and we noticed how low his dps was. My favorite part was his response as to why he deserved the gear

Noob Frost DK - "Hey, I didn't get hit once on Blast Wave and you got hit twice. Whose the noob now?"
Me - "lol, seriously"
Noob - "You call me a noob, and you can't get out of the Blast wave"
Me - "It's easy to avoid blast wave when you don't actually hit the Boss"
Pug Raid - LOL,

The gear goes to the noob and I am still frustrated at the lack of effort from most DK's that is truly astonishing. Sorry to vent here, but it's truly frustrating when you are trying to prove the viability of frost Dps and you have guys like that running around.

One last thing, I found out the dps loss of using the wrong glyphs, By not using Ob Glyph/Frost Strike/HB, your dps will take an 800 dps loss easily. You ask how I know I specced into Blood for a day to try it out and forgot to change my glyphs when I went back.
