Mr. Smite is Particularly nasty. He is your fourth "Boss" in The Deadmines. As you approach the bridge leading to the ship 2 Defias are stealthed on both sides of the bridge. Engaging either of them will make him start attacking you. As you get his health lower he will stun you (you have no say in the matter) and pick up his next weapon, this repeats one more time until you finally defeat him.

A good strategy with Mr. Smite is to take out the adds first with your lower levels and have your main tank focus on him. If you follow that, your tank should have at least 40% damage off of him when the lower levels start attacking.

Unlike the other bosses, no patrols show up when you defeat him, so you don't have to worry about watching your back for them.

The three main weapons he uses, are the ones he drops. The hammer is the one your aiming for but has only dropped for me on one rare occasion. His weapon drops are bind on pickup so you could get 20 to 40 silver at a vendor for them.

This is a great strategy while killing smite. Get a priest, Paladin(can be druid, matters wat you find), warrior, mage, and rogue.

1: Make the warrior hold aggro on smite.

2: The mage will poly one of the two blackguards.

3: The priest will heal the rogue and mage while pally heals main tank.

4: Watch out of the stuns when he changes his wepons. 1st wepon: 1 handed axe. 2nd wepon duel weild axes. 3rd wepon a huge hammer called Smite's Mighty Hammer. Great twinking wepon.

When you take down both of the blackguards Smite will be an easy picking besides the annoying stuns.
I hope my information was helpfull.

Probably the most fun battle in DM.

Best way to fight Smite:

Tank holds aggro on smite.
Other group members kill the adds quickly and then focus on smite.

Easy and fast!

When taking on Mr. Smite, be sure to kill the two people he brings with him (the hidden guys that "spring out of the shadows" at you). When you get Smite to 2/3 or 1/2 hp, he stuns your entire group for ~10 seconds while running to get a new weapon (he does this at 1/3 hp as well). If you do not kill his two helpers first, they will continue to attack your group while you're stunned, causing unnecessary damage without you being able to retaliate. Other than him doing a pretty good deal of damage with two other things hitting you as well, he is much easier than the woodchopping machine that you killed earlier in the instance when alone. Consider yourself lucky if you get his two-handed mace, because it rocks.

useless, mace binds on pickup :(

Just before Mr. Smite is at 2/3 health where he will stomp and stun you, stun him. He will go get his weapon and not attack you, but he won't stun you and you can beat on him while he's fetching his weapon.

With Van Cleef, right before he calls his extra guards (that drop nothing anyway) stun him and it will display the text that he's calling his guards, but the guards won't actually come.

Very useful for preventing party wipeouts in VC.

I know how you feel. I've got a 43 Hunter on Thunderhorn. I've been soloing DM since like 38ish for drops and running guildies through it for the quest. The first time I took my father's character (20 Pally at the time) through, The defias set chest dropped on VC. Since then I've run it at least 40 times just to farm and another 10 for guildies to get blue drops and the quest. Not once has it dropped. I'm wary of taking my rogue alt through there in a couple levels, Don't know how many times it will take to drop the Chest again.

I did get the Hammer to drop once, while running the Wife's character through, she sold it. Being a Warrior, it was too slow to be that good for her.

I got a new trick for Van cleef dont know if anyone knows it. Me and a priest tried Deadmines ourself 21 priest and me lvl 23 druid. We tryed to kill Van cleef and we sort of wiped so we went on the big wheel. Van cleef stood there with his guards and i went in with alot of healing from priest and the magic thing happened i made dps on van cleef so he didnt bug.. but the guards ? they stood looking at priest on the wheel didnt attack me and evaded my attack ... We just took VC while the guards were bugging looted him and hs'ed :)

Tha Supa Druid =)

A 21 priest and 23 druid would never make it to VC by themselves. Its hard enough to kill alot of the bosses solo in your mid to high 30's.

I always use to get aggro of the gaurds right before he suns then one of them would rush over to me and kill my while i was just helpless
<sigh> being a mage i didnt have that much health too last against them for too long. My advice is to eliminate the blackgaurds(i think thats what there called) BEFORE he stuns you and then procide to slaughter him after the stun breaks and all the gaurds are gone BTW hes got cool drops

Comentario de Thottbot

ok here u go u bring a 50+=P lol joking u bugg his gaurds by hacking joking=P ok u jump on the cannon guy with arrgo bugs gaurds have a mage(aoe)jump off and spam aoe then the gaurds are bugged have the guy on the cannon(a preist) jump in to the water have to have a good pot the gaurds will follow but not in the water mean while the mage uses the frost nova thing and brigns vc to the wqater then the preist heals the tank and the gaurds will be bugged till the preist comes out of water then u get the gaurds.

opps sorry forgot . lol

Got run thru by a lvl 50+ rogue twice n both times smite's hammer dropped so both of us pallys have it....the second time cruel barb dropped at van cleef...we had some great drops, don't know if others have been as lucky.

Hey guys, I'm Teepo(22 Druid on Andorhal). IMO, most of the DeadMines drops could be good for druids. Especially Feral like me. I want SMH(Smite's Mighty Hammer) because my cat form would PWN! w/ it. And all of the Defias gear would be good. I have the cape from SFK(41 pally guildmate ran me through)that adds 4 agi and 4 stam so i don't need cape of the brotherhood. Cat form would slightly lower damage output with the hammer, having 1.00 attack speed, but the stats(11 Str 4 Agi) would carry over and boost as well as the rest of the effects of buffs, pots, and other crap.

I've run the dungeon aroud 5 times in the past two days and we haven't gotten the mace. Even though I got Ironpatch Blade and Taskmaster Axe off this run I still want Smite's Mighty Hammer. I ran the dungeon with a 60 friend and another friend.

Comentario de Allakhazam

I love Mr. Smite <3.

Comentario de Allakhazam

Does anyone else think its funny that this guy (a tauren) drops milk?

Comentario de Allakhazam

could i as a lvl 31 beast mastery hunter and a lvl 23 marksmanship hunter kill him ourselves?

Comentario de Allakhazam

When you fight him, he has two rogues helping. Take those out, but be prepared for his AoE stun that freezes your party members whiile he goes and gets his two axes , he'll do it once more and pick up a big assed hammer. He's not really hard, just be prepared.

Comentario de Allakhazam

was going through here as a 45 tauren hunter (looking for a lil money and some drops for my 23 rogue alt). When i ran into this guy i had already killed his 2 guards and being so much higher than him i was giving him the same slack i gave all the other lil bosses... until i noticed my pet in red health.
Just thought i would post about how i think he is the toughest and you should give everything you got when fighting him, least you wipe and get to run back in WOOHOO

Comentario de Allakhazam

was taking a group of lvl21 pally, lvl34 pally, lvl18 pally and 22 mage through. First time his two guards took us out no problem but we found that the easiest way to kill him is take out his two guards and then try and take smite on. If you die it doesn't matter too much because on next time when he is on his own he becomes easy to take out.

Comentario de Allakhazam

what lvl is this mob? im thinking of doing some surgery for it, need his hammer badly for my shammy.

Comentario de Allakhazam

This guy dropped Night Watch Longsword for a rogue today, he asked me to help, im a 60 mage, and he was a lv 18 rogue, he got Nightie, and hes Cruel Barb, and my twinked-caster (class = secret) got Keller's Girdle from some random mob just before Cleef

Comentario de Allakhazam

now you're making me angry

Comentario de Allakhazam

Make sure when you fight him you fight far back from the ramp and the landing of the ramp so that when he stuns you he has to run back.

The neat thing is that when he stuns you, the Game registers you as Out of Combat! This means you can drink or whatever that your normally can't do in combat!

Comentario de Allakhazam

he isnt all that tough its just he acts like a whimp and leaves the fight three times for a weapon change while he stuns u he went down pretty fast and killed him in 6 hits with a 37 warlock(me) and a lvl 47 mage
