For today's WoW Classic preview, we're looking at Wowhead's
Classic Dressing Room
, a model viewer allowing you to dress up and preview any character using the original vanilla models and animations.
Character Model Differences in Classic
As Warlords of Draenor revamped all character models, Classic characters use lower-resolution models than BFA characters. As part of the revamp, characters move slightly differently as well, which you can preview by selecting all animations from the model viewer.
More customization options have been added through the years, including a number of new hairstyles in Cataclysm that are not present in Classic.
There is no barbershop, or option to pay to change race in Classic WoW, so going with the perfect look is important on the first try.
Transmog sets were not present in vanilla WoW--leading to the term "clown suit" to describe players in brightly-colored mismatching gear that provided the best DPS. However, standing outside the bank in your best gear, on a rare mount, was a way to show off in vanilla.

With the
Classic Dressing Room
, preview characters using their original models in any available armor and weapons. You can import any previously-loaded character to see what your BFA character will look like in Classic at a lower resolution.
As you change each piece of armor and update your hair/face options, the URL will dynamically update, so you can simply copy the URL and paste it to friends to share your appearance.
At the bottom-right side of the screen, you will find a menu allowing you to select different animations. Double-click on the model viewer to expand it to full-screen and drag your mouse to see your character moving from any angle.
