In today's guide spotlight we will highlight our new Blackrock Depths Strategy Guide, written by Saevicus. The guide covers everything you need to know about Blackrock Depths (or BRD), including how to reach the instance, bosses, loot, quests in the dungeon, and how to approach this massive dungeon.

BRD is a 5-player dungeon located in the Blackrock Mountain, between Searing Gorge and Burning Steppes. Within Blackrock Mountain, you will need to descend the chains all the way to the lava and enter a corridor full of Shadowforge agents, the dungeon entrance located at the end of said corridor.
Blackrock Depths is the dungeon with most bosses in Classic WoW, with a grand total of 20 encounters. As Blackrock Depths is a massive dungeon in both size and amount of bosses, runs are usually broken down into different portions:
The first run focuses on the lower portion of Blackrock Depths, where you will start completing quests and eventually forging the
Llave Sombratiniebla
, necessary to open the upper portions of the dungeon.
The second part should focus on the upper areas of Blackrock Depths that are opened with the Shadowforge Key, and the efforts this time are focused on killing
Emperador Dagran Thaurissan
, the final boss in the dungeon.
A third type of run that people usually do in Blackrock Depths is the
Lava Run
, in which players skip a major portion of the instance to reach the upper ends of Blackrock Depths. These runs are usually done to either quickly complete the

s within the Black Forge, the only place where you can create this special ore bar.
Blackrock Depths is a good source for gear in the lower 50s, perfect for players preparing to start gearing up after hitting 60. Blackrock Depths is also visited for many important quests such as the Alliance version of the
Onyxia's Lair Attunement Questline
, the aforementioned attunement to Molten Core, and more.
Lokhtos Tratoscuro
, who serves as a quartermaster for the
Thorium Brotherhood faction
, is also located in Blackrock Depths, within the Grim Guzzler bar.
