SpellsShadow

Forma de las Sombras
(Talent in Shadow)

Shadowform is the primary Spell for a Shadow Sacerdote. You can't be a "Shadow" Priest if you aren't using Shadowform, so of course this has to be mentioned first. Most importantly, while in Shadowform, a Priest deals 15% increased Shadow Damage and can not cast Holy Spells. Thankfully, we aren't healing and won't need to cast Holy Spells anyway!

Palabra de las Sombras: Dolor

Shadow Word: Pain is one of the most powerful Damage Over Time Spells in all of Classic. As Mentioned in the Overview page of this guide, Shadow Word: Pain has 100% Spell Coefficient, meaning it takes full advantage of the Spell Damage on the Gear of the Shadow Sacerdote! With Palabra de las Sombras: dolor mejorada, this Spell will have 2 extra ticks of damage, meaning less applications of the DoT during a Raid Boss!

Explosión mental

Mind Blast is an extremely powerful Damage Spell, but it has two primary drawbacks. First, it has a cooldown, which can be lowered with Explosión mental mejorada, and secondly, it causes a large amount of Threat. Being the only Spell a Shadow Sacerdote can Critically Strike with, it causes even more threat when it Crits! Thankfully the cast time is exactly the Global Cooldown Length, and the Priest can immediately begin casting another spell after completing this Cast.

Despelleje mental
(Talent in Shadow)

Mind Flay is one of the most Mana Efficient Spells in the Shadow Sacerdote toolkit. With enough Spell Damage, a Rank 1 Despelleje mental can actually out perform the best Wand in the game, even with Especialización en varitas, and with enough MP5, is essentially a free Cast. For this reason, once a Shadow Priest is geared up enough, it is recommended to completely drop Especialización en varitas.

Unirse a vampírica
(Talent in Shadow)

Vampiric Embrace should be used cautiously in Raids. It generates a very large amount of Threat and the healing it provides is not incredibly high. It can help take a lot of weight off your healers though if a fight is longer and Threat isn't an issue.

Peste devoradora
(Undead Racial)

Devouring Plague, like Unirse a vampírica, causes a massive amount of Threat because of the Self Healing. It also costs a significant chunk of Mana so it can be nearly impossible to use effectively unless combined with Enfoque interno.

Quemar maná

Mana Burn is useful against some PvE Raid Bosses, such as Moam in Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj. A couple notes on Mana Burn, it is not effected by Spell Damage, because it burns Mana and deals damage based on that, which means it also has 0% Spell Coefficient. Mana Burn is also pretty useful in PvP scenarios, mostly in Battlegrounds, where a Shadow Sacerdote is not the primary Kill Target for the enemy team.

Holy

Renovar

Renew is one of the most common Heals a Shadow Sacerdote will use. Because you can slip out of Forma de las Sombras, Cast Renew, and then slip right back in. For the most part, during a PvE Raid encounter, a Shadow Priest will never need to leave Shadowform, unless something really bad is happening, in which case it is most likely a wipe.

Curación inferior
Curar
Destello curativo
Curación superior
Rezo de curación

As mentioned for Renew, it is not typical that a Shadow Sacerdote will leave Forma de las Sombras in a Raid environment. In 5-Man Dungeons however, a Shadow Priest is typically the backup Healer in case the Healer runs out of Mana. In those instances, the Shadow Priest is expected to drop Shadowform and start casting Heals.

Acometida
Fuego Sagrado

Smite and Holy Fire are both Holy Spell Damage abilities, meaning they will almost never be used. There is a couple of really fun Holy Fire Builds for a Discipline Priest however, but it is extremely situational and really only good in Alterac Valley.

Nova Sagrada
(Talent in Holy)

Holy Nova requires the Shadow Sacerdote to drop Forma de las Sombras, which means we'll almost never use it. It is a pretty good spell in general however, for finding a Pícaro hiding in Stealth nearby!

Pozo de Luz
(Talent in Holy)

Lightwell is pretty much a joke throughout all of World of Warcraft's history. I will say I think it was an innovative and creative mechanic that the Vanilla Team created, unfortunately it isn't viable at all. It is the absolute worst Heal in the game, a Healing over Time that cancels when attacked? Yikes.

Rezo desesperado
(Dwarf and Human Racial)

Desperate Prayer is unique to Dwarf and Human Sacerdote, as it is their Class Racial. This is a powerful Instant cast self heal, but it does require the Shadow Sacerdote to drop Forma de las Sombras. In a dire situation, the Priest will likely cast this, follow up with Renovar, and then slip back into Shadowform, resulting in a ton of self healing.

Offensive

Infusión de poder
(Talent in Discipline)

Power Infusion is the final Talent in the Discipline Tree, which means it is unreachable for a Shadow Sacerdote. Which is pretty unfortunate, because Power Infusion is an insanely cool Spell.

Enfoque interno
(Talent in Discipline)

Inner Focus is a must have Talent for a Shadow Sacerdote. A 0 Mana Peste devoradora? No Undead Priest can turn that down! In PvE however, it is mostly used on the opening Explosión mental in the rotation, for the extra Crit chance. This is only recommended if you have a really good Tank that can build enough Threat quickly at the start of a fight.

Defensive

Fuego interno

Inner Fire is an extremely powerful Buff the Shadow Sacerdote uses on themselves. In PvP, this is one of the most important things to get accustomed to, constantly refreshing Inner Fire. In some situations, when a Shadow Priest really wants to specialize in countering Melee, they will sometimes pick up Fuego interno mejorado, taking even less damage from Melee.

Palabra de poder: escudo

Power Word: Shield is the absolute king of anti-Melee. First of all, Guerrero will get 0 Rage when attacking into a Shield. Which means whoever a Warrior goes after, the Sacerdote should be throwing a Shield on that target! And when the Shadow Priest is the target, Shield should be self cast every chance it can!

Alarido psíquico

Psychic Scream is an extremely powerful Area of Effect Crowd Control Spell, which the Shadow Sacerdote can use to get multiple targets off of them. In PvP, this should be used on as many Enemy targets as possible, often times requires the Shadow Priest to move out of position, and into the enemy ranks, allowing for a big "fear bomb".

Desvanecer

Fade is almost entirely worthless. Unfortunately, the reduction in Threat only applies during the Fade time of 10 seconds, and when the Buff falls off, all previous Threat is gained back. In general, this should only be used at the beginning of a Raid fight, after a Explosión mental Crits, giving 10 more seconds for the Tank to gain enough Threat.

Toque de debilidad
(Undead Racial)

Touch of Weakness is another anti-Melee Buff for Undead Sacerdote. One important note is the damage dealt from the application of Touch of Weakness can proc Desmayo, which is absolutely devastating when a Shadow Priest is opened on by a Pícaro!

Guardia de las Sombras
(Troll Racial)

Shadowguard, just like Toque de debilidad, can proc Desmayo. This Spell is unique to Trolls, acting exactly like a Chamán's Escudo de relámpagos. Even with only 3 Charges, that is a lot of opportunity for a Troll Sacerdote to apply Blackout on an attacking Melee character.

Maleficio de debilidad
(Troll Racial)

Hex of Weakness is the second Troll Class Racial. Unfortunately, it is a strictly weaker Toque de debilidad, doing the exact same thing, but costing more Mana, and doing 0 Damage on application. The reduction in Healing is a pretty spectacular bonus, but often times in PvP, the person attack the Shadow Sacerdote in the backlines is a Pícaro and not the target of Heals.

Rebote
(Human Racial)

Feedback is a pretty strange Spell, being unique to Human Sacerdote, which are very uncommon. In PvE, this has absolutely no effect at all, and in PvP it isn't that powerful. Shadow Priest already do really well versus most Spellcaster classes, as well as naturally having Quemar maná, a powerful Mana sucking Spell. Feedback does have a chance to proc Desmayo, which can be really nice in a pinch.

Gracia de Elune
(Night Elf Racial)

Elune's Grace, the Racial Spell for Night Elf Sacerdote, is unfortunately not very good. With an extremely long cooldown of 5 minutes, don't expect it to be up more than once during a PvP encounter. And even if it is off cooldown, a 10% increase to dodge chance doesn't do much, putting a level 60 Priest at around 15% Dodge chance, since Priest gear doesn't have any Agility on it. In PvE, it's entirely useless.

Custodia de miedo
(Dwarf Racial)

Fear Ward, the Holy Grail of Alliance Racials, is a Holy Spell, meaning you can not cast it while in Forma de las Sombras. So to keep this up during a long encounter, you'll have to drop Shadowform frequently to keep this on a Tank or Healer. While already having Mana issues, this can put quite a strain on the Sacerdote, so be careful to avoid popping in and out of Shadowform too much.

Utility

Silencio
(Talent in Shadow)

Silence is an extremely powerful PvP Spell, allowing a Shadow Sacerdote to completely shut down a Spellcaster for 5 whole seconds. This can certainly change the tide during a brawl in the center of Warsong Gulch, when applied to the enemy team's Healer, allowing your team to down the enemy Guerrero.

Disipar magia

Dispel Magic is one of the most unique things about a Sacerdote when it comes to PvP. Priests and Paladins are the only classes that can remove Polimorfia from their allies in a Warsong Gulch. Most pre-made teams will bring 2 Mago, just to spam Polymorph on as many targets as possible.

Curar enfermedad
Suprimir enfermedad

Cure Disease and Abolish Disease are both Holy Spells, meaning they can't be cast while in Forma de las Sombras. Furthermore, there isn't actually that many Diseases in the game, other than a few encounters in Dungeons and Raids. In PvP, it has almost no effect, unless of course there is an Undead Sacerdote tossing up a Peste devoradora!

Resurrección

Resurrection is also a Holy Spell, but a great tool after a wipe after a Boss, or in PvP, casted behind a tree, outside of the enemy's sight. Not much can be said for this Spell, other than it being a huge asset during the leveling process, while doing low level dungeons with random strangers, wipes happen often! Just another reason why Warlocks are a Sacerdote best friend! (Piedra de alma)

Levitar

Levitate is an awesome Utility Spell, allowing the Sacerdote to walk on water! In PvP, this is great in Arathi Basin, allowing a Priest to rotate to Blacksmith without much of an issue, as well as jumping down from Lumber Mill taking 0 fall damage.

Visión mental

Mind Vision is one of the premier scouting Spells in the game. Thankfully in Warsong Gulch, the draw distance for enemy players is much wider, allowing you to type "/target X" Where X is the enemy flag carrier, allowing you to see the exact location of the flag. You can also daisy chain this ability, hopping from player to player until you find your target. This is a powerful tool when your Offense has lost the flag and need fast communication on the location.

Calma mental

Mind Soothe is valuable during the leveling process when a Sacerdote wants to get to a chest or gathering node as quickly as possible because they might be competing with other members of their faction. A Priest can use Mind Soothe on the nearby enemy monsters, allowing them to slip by and pick up the node. Mind Soothe is also very helpful when a Priest needs to get into position for a Control mental before a pull in a PvE encounter.

Control mental

Mind Control is one of the most fun Spells in the Sacerdote toolkit. Mind Controlling enemies off of the Lumber Mill, leaping them down to their death in Arathi Basin. Same thing for Alliance Priest, heading over to Thunder Bluff, Mind Controlling Horde off of the elevators. In PvE, there is even one encounter that Mind Control is an absolute necessity (Instructor Razuvious), as well as many other encounters that are a breeze with Mind Control!

Encadenar no-muerto

Shackle Undead has very limited uses, but it can come in handy during the Undead Dungeons and Raids, allowing the Priest to utilize a powerful Crowd Control Spell. This is especially useful in Dungeons such as Scholomance and Stratholme, which are Dungeons filled with Undead.

Fragmentos estelares
(Night Elf Racial)

Starshards is included in the "Utility" section because, realistically, it has only a single purpose for a Shadow Sacerdote. In almost every instance you would consider Casting Starshards, Mind Flay is the better option. But on the rare occasion, your target is going to be able to run out of line of sight with very little health remaining. It is a better option to cast Starshards, because it can still hit the target, even out of line of sight.

Buffs

Palabra de poder: entereza
Rezo de entereza

Power Word: Fortitude is one of the best Buffs in the game, giving a flat bonus to Stamina, increasing the target's Health by a significant amount. It is generally recommended all Sacerdote take Poder de la palabra mejorado: entereza, just because they will be expected to buff their Group with Fortitude.

Protección de las Sombras
Rezo de protección de las sombras

Shadow Protection is particularly useful in multiple PvE Raids, notably Blackwing Lair, Ahn'Qiraj, and Naxxramas. Each of these Raids will pummel the Raid with Shadow Damage, often times completely unavoidable damage. With enough Shadow Resistance gear, Buffs, and Consumables, this can all be mitigated to a much more manageable amount of damage.

Espíritu divino
Rezo de espíritu
(Talent in Discipline)

Divine Spirit is unfortunately fairly deep in the Discipline tree, meaning you can't be a Shadow Sacerdote and take Divine Spirit. It is a powerful Buff for Healers however, and in a Raid setting, there will most certainly be a Holy/Discipline Priest that can put this buff on the Shadow Priest, giving you some extra Spirit for Mana Regeneration, in tandem with Meditación!

This is dumb.

Remove the shadow priest from your raid, they are a waste of a raid slot.
Spec this.

Gear as a healer.
Cast Rank 1 MB/SWP to keep up shadow weaving.

Oh and instructing your priests to use SWP in a raid, absolutely stupid.

Comentario de Valkmore

Having 1 Shadow priest can buff ALL the warlocks and can actually do considerable dmg if given 2 things: 1) A paladin judging wisdom on the boss and 2) a debuff slot for SW:Pain. Mathematically, SWP will be a larger dps gain than warlock's corruption, and with 16 debuffs there's arguably room for SWP and Judge. of Wisdom. Lastly... the suggested rotation here is all wrong and clips/delays SWP, which will be your best dmg output. Try: SWP, MB, MF,MF,MF MB, MF, MF, MF Repeat. With Pots, Runes, and Judgement of Wis. a spellpower maxed S.Priest can do top tier damage in 2 min fights. For fights over 2 mins swap to only SWP, 1 MB and 6x MF then repeat.

We know from history / experience that the S.Priest of vanilla went OOM too quickly because they blew their mana on too many Mind Blasts. Prioritize nothing but Spell Power and you will be happy with your dps numbers.
