What do you think the main problem with MoP is?

Ya, but if they released them back then, there models wouldn't be anywhere near as detailed, and no draenei :( That's a bit of a stretch; the Draenei are far more detailed then the previous 4 races, why wouldn't the Pandaren have been the same?

It has virtually as many dislikes as it has likes. I've seen a comment from more than one person there in the comments section saying how they dislike the video every day. Its sad. So many of those people are just hating on it because of the pandaren, they see panda people and wont even give the game a chance. I truly hate people like that.
People are idiots and the vocal minority are the one there; just ignore them.

While the BC races are decent—not Cata-level, but excellent for their time—the pandaren models shown at Blizzcon are leaps and bounds ahead.

/shrug Of course, since the model update was raised at Blizzard, entirely possible all of the models are going to be moved up for Mists; we'll have to wait and see.

Not to mention the total failure to do
anything
to quell the damaging 'lol kung-fu pandas' meme still developing.Considering that their idea of "quelling" the equally "damaging" rage over the eredar retcon was to shuffle draenei under the rug, and their idea of "quelling" the Chicken-Littling about Twihards seems to be to do the same thing to worgen? It's probably for the
best
that they ignore the vocal minority this time around.

If you don't do anything to counter a damaging meme then it will come to define you. Regardless of what the truth is, WoW will come to be defined by 'kung-fu pandas' and 'pokemon pets' unless Blizzard makes some kind of move to counter those perceptions. And, again: people spread "damaging memes" about both draenei (blowing petty retcons out of proportion and applying the beta slang term for talbuk) and worgen (blowing petty retcons out of proportion and insinuating that werewolves attract Twihards), too. In both cases, Blizzard's idea of "countering" it was to pretty much sideline the race.
Every time, it's been a nerdraging vocal minority—including now. And it never seems to occur to Blizzard to just tell the nerdragers to deal with it.

Balrog is saying it's a PR issue not a game issue, they don't need to "solve" anything within the game or change anything. And I'm saying that it's
not
a PR issue. Or, at most, it's no
more
of a PR issue than it's been every other time a vocal minority has flipped their dookie. To call it the proverbial tempest in a teacup would be giving it more weight than it merits.

People are overreacting. Pandas might be slow, but martial arts are badass and awesome. Oriental culture is mystifying and beautiful in its own right, and even if it looks aimless, not knowing the main enemy in this expac doesnt mean we wont have one. Remember Vanilla? We never know who was going to be the last boss until Naxxramas was announced =) Did Vanilla sucked? according to the nostalgic hard-ons everyone gets just reading the name, it wasnt :)
Most people are just complaining because they dont like the unexpected. Simple as that.

I think it's mostly the scale of the expansion. If the entire realm of Deepholm is a single zone, I don't think Pandaria deserves to be a continent. That and the fact that there was absolutely no foreshadowing, it just kind of popped in. "There was a really misty island. Nobody saw it ever. It was that misty. You didn't even see the mist. Now they found it. Yeah." It just kind of comes of as weak and unappealing as opposed to WotLK and BC, and especially after they really upped the ante not just with the big bad involved but with the amount of content and lore-advancement of not only 80+ zones, but all zones, in Cataclysm.

To use the "kung fu panda" argument, it most certainly is a PR issue. Blizzard have done absolutely nothing to dissociate the pandaren from Kung Fu Panda, even to the point of relying on people who had played WC3 to indicate that the pandaren actually pre-date Kung Fu Panda.Because it's only a vocal minority associating pandaren with
Kung Fu Panda
to begin with, and it's calculated. This is no different from the whole "
Twilight
worgen" nonsense.
I wasn't in WoW at this time, was it perhaps something to do with draenei being living proof that the orcs had been bothering the talbuk behind the bushes in Nagrand?...yeah, going to have to agree with Soldrethar on that. I started playing WoW around BC, and I don't remember any such comments.
What I meant is that "space goat" originally meant "talbuk." (Because, you know, they actually
look
like some kind of alien ibex.) It got misapplied to draenei due to some screen cap involving a shaman with
those
horns showing off her new exalted-with-the-Kurenai status, and somehow managed to stick despite making a lot less sense.
However? The "damaging" part there was the way people blew the eredar retcon (which was Sargeras tempting and corrupting two of their ruling triumvirate and most of their population, as opposed to falling to corruption
because
of the presence of the eredar and other demons) wildly out of proportion. In other words, if you ask what the "draenei retcon" was, you'll get several different answers, most of which are based on fanon or personal interpretation.
Blizzard's response to that was to first
apologize
for the retcon (thus making the nerdragers feel validated) and then sideline the race. If their idea of responding to nerdrage is to do a half-butted thing like that, it's better that they don't.
