I'm glad I can get above the snow line semi-easily.
Also a good plan. I live far enough north, that we'd just have to be able to hold out til winter and we'd be good. And my apartment is on the second floor, with the only access to the outside a single door, down a narrow flight of stairs that could easily be filled with furniture...
...the fact that already have this planned out is proof I need to get out more...Lol perhaps, but of course, you still have to possibly worry about them showing back up after the winter was over(depending on Zed type).
I live in a basement.
< zombie food.
Not true; the hero of Night of the Living Dead made it by staying in the basement all night....okay, going to throw up the spoiler tags even though everyone knows what happened to him anyways: Pity about those damn Rednecks who either shot him because A) They thought he was a zombie or B) They shot him cause he was a black man.

Yeah- you're screwed.
My parents will also no make it- they have two sets of glass double doors in the back, a huge picture window in the front, 3 or 4 tall skinny windows that would be easy to step through once the glass was broken, and no less than 3 other doors into the house, besides the two sets of glass doors. Every time I see their house I'm like "Poor planning, people. Poor planning."
@ Adam- Nope- I also happen to live on an Island where I am no more than 45 min to an hour away from the water at any given time, and have access to a pretty good 4-wheel drive. All we need is one sub-zero day to stock and launch a decent boat (since I have never seen the water at the docks freeze, even on the coldest of days), and we're set.

More then one day: Would need the supplies for patching the boat if the unexpected happened, lots of gas, an alternate way to move it if needed, supplies for purification of water, supplies needed for chemical toilets, large number of sea sickness pills...and of course, you'd have to make sure that the water is deep enough that they can't just reach up and pull themselves onto the boat/capsize you or climb up the anchor chain.
Yes, I have a lot of the zombie survival guide committed to memory....what's your point!

@ Adams
I still think most of those things could be scavenged within a day or two. On our home turf we know where all the pharmacies, hardware stores, and Walmarts are, and I know how to get gas even when the power goes out. If not all on the first trip, then on a return trip as we have 3 months of winter here, we'd get what we needed. My island has only a single barrier island between us and the ocean, so depth isn't an issue.
Also, even if it takes 2-3 weeks, getting from New York to above the snow line should be doable before thaw. So at that point, my survival plan is the same as yours, and you can't shoot it full of holes. Actually mine is better, because I'm coming from the country with all the guns.
Did you want us to bring you anything when we get there? Statue of liberty coffee mug, I <3 NY T-shirt, etc?
@OZ- don't be jealous. We know you'd want to survive horrible world-ending catastrophes too.

Nah that's alright; I'd rather not depend on the dinner bell gun shot for my protection heh.

Per the book, crossbow is the way to go.

Aye, issue though is the reload time heh. Probably that for long range, and one of the nice standard issue crowbars for melee if needed....of course, I'm a follower of the 'get the hell out of dodge' mind set and don't want to be a zombie hunter lol.

Well the idea is that if it's only one zombie, you don't need a reload time. If it's a lot of zombies, you're supposed to GTFO-ing and not playing STARS commando.

Of course...but I have a feeling, you'd see those with the guns decide they are Rambo, and go nuts on the zombies.
What the hell am I in the middle of?
A semi-serious discussion on tactics in regards of class 3 apocalypse involving the dead rising.
