#LayerArugal - Large Servers Suffer Queue Times After Layering Removed
23.08.2020 um 21:27
We previously reported on Blizzards announcement that
all WoW Classic realms were now down to one layer
, which many players who didn't like the idea of their server's community artificially split up. Since that happened though, many of the bigger servers have been beset by overpopulation, with queue times skyrocketing as players try to squeeze themselves all into one overcrowded layer. While Blizzard also removed character transfer restrictions, that hasn't proved to be an effective means of population management - in some cases players are even going out of their way to join the bigger servers, making the problem that much worse. In light of this issue some players are now pleading with Blizzard to restore laying in order to reduce their queue times back to a playable state.

#LAYERARUGAL - PLEASE
has gained a lot of traction on the official Classic forums and Discord, dispelling a lot of the myths of layering. Being the only Oceanic server with the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj unlocked, players are actively transferring to the server in order to access the raid, with no free transfers off for beleaguered guilds, despite their already inordinate queue times getting continually longer, not to mention the effort long-term players have already put into building up their community on those servers. While there are arguments that layering may be bad for the game and the spirit of Classic WoW, not being able to play the game whatsoever due to queue times is considerably worse.
Blizzard has not made any response or announcement indicating a plan to combat these queue times, so for the time being players are left with few options aside from the same strategies used in the initial launch of Classic WoW - remote login to get through the queue early and various tricks to avoid being logged off when not actively playing. Unfortunately, while these are good for the individual player, they only make those queue times worse as otherwise inactive characters clutter the sever, keeping others from getting in. One thing is for certain, the queue times are making it very hard to play on Arugal and other servers.
