Erschöpfter Leerenkern: Drops from the Naga mobs which can be found on the Isle of Dread or the south of the Feathermoon Stronghold in Feralas. Currently not a shared drop, so one has to be farmed for each group member.

Partikel der Dunkelheit: Can be acquired from the Schattenhafte Gestalt after killing enough enemies for her to spawn. It has been confirmed that all sorts of kills can trigger her to spawn, including the previously mentioned Naga or even PvP kills. However, it does seem as if they have to be around your level, so aim for mobs that are at least level 32. Some users have also reported that reloading the game or clearing your cache folder might help if you are struggling to get her to show up.

Seems like you have to talk to Ziri in Step 2 and can't head to Scooty in Booty Bay straight away :/

Can confirm that the shadowy figure drops from (probably) ANY MOB. Got one to spawn during witherbark troll farming. See screenie

shadow figure spawned for me while killing random mobs in swamp of sorrows, so definitely seems to be any mob

Nicely written and detailed guide! Just adding a few things I noticed.

I don't think you need to have the skill at 175 to get the item to drop or the shadowy figure to spawn. I was at 150 LW/Engi when I started the quest and was able to get a lucky drop on the core off 10 mobs or so. The shadowy figure on the other hand, that was about 2.5 hours of killing mobs.

Come to think of it, I was doing this quest with my friend who had already leveled professions to 175, so perhaps that bit is true, but it applies to the entire party? That might be for the core since I farmed the shadow alone. Hopefully others can provide more data to help confirm.

One thing to note, it seems that the spent core is NOT group looted, so if you're with a full party, you're might be farming 5 of them.

Can say for sure that the spent voidcore doesn't require 225 skill as a guildie without 225 got it last night. They were having trouble getting the shadowy figure to spawn though so that may be 225

Hatecrest Screamers on feathermoon stronghold island are dropping the spent voidcore's like crazy actually - seen like 6 in 5 mins farming for the shadowy figure

After you collect the Spent Voidcore off the naga, do a /reload and the Shadowy Figure will appear in the next few kills.

Spent hours cleaning hundreds of mobs in Mannoroc Coven, nothing. It spawned for someone in the party but not for me, I couldnt see the Shadowy Figure.
I've seen on the Mote of Darkness page that clearing cache could solve the issue.
Cleared cache, dropped on the second mob. It was a lvl37 Shadowforge Darkweaver in the badlands.
Luck or RNG ? Maybe, but in doubt, clear your cache !

Both drops were really fast. For the shadowy figure I just did a lvl 32 quest in desolace killing satyrs and the figure popped in <5 mins

Can confirm that the Spent Voidcore's can now be looted by multiple people in party. However the shadowy figure has only showed up for one player thus far...

EDIT: After struggling to get the whole group to see the shadowy figure, we all deleted the contents of the Cache folder and EVENTUALLY managed to get everyone through this part!

Did the shadowy figure part with two buddies and they kept seeing him spawn but I never did, clearing cache and reloading did not help but disabling addons and a relog made me see it.

For those having troubles to spawn the shadowy figure, i had to delete the cache but it only worked after exiting the game while waiting the full 20seconds, tried several time before with exiting instantly and it didnt work ! Hope it helps someone :D

Can 100% confirm, 175 is NOT needed for the spent voidcore, got it alone at 150/150!

Ok this is precisely how to get the shadowy figure to spawn.

1. Do /reload
2. Move the "Spent Voidcore" from 1 slot in 1 of your bags, into another slot in 1 of your bags.
3. Do /reload
4. Kill any mob.

Enjoy.

You can keep killing Nagas to get both the spent voidcore AND shadowy figure to spawn.

Clearing cache worked for spawning the shadowy figure. Pretty frustrating but it did.

Log out 20 seconds. Close game. Delete Cache. Log back in. I got it on second mob.

It's also worth mentioning that you should simply swim around the island for the Feralas one, as there are some high level elites located near the center of it.

I just ran down the east side of the island and didnt run into a single mob.

1. You imply that you can get back up the mountain without going to Scooty.
2. The Shadowy Figure spawns right on top of the corpse.
3. The Shadowy FIgure despawns after 1 minute.
4. /Reload helps remove any spawn issues.
5. Number your steps
6. The going back to Ziri portion for the quest dialog needs to be way more highlighted and drawn attention to. Had I not read the comments, this would have been easily missed.
7. These quests give zero experience/gold.
8. You can be summoned to Wirdal and skip Quadrangulation entirely.

having this head differentiate pro players from noob players. but with such steps like "Some users have also reported that reloading the game or clearing your cache folder" it's an another level of wow questing difficulty

This quest is bugged for some. I tried it today, and couldn't loot any of the aforementioned beancons. I could try to, and the cast bar would finish but they and my quest would still come up as incomplete. Have logged a ticket with support for this quest bug, but you'd think they'd have ironed it out before implementing such an annoying process.

What DOESN'T work to try and fix it:
- relogging
- clearing cache folder
- diabling addons
- restarting quest

If you encounter this problem, just submit a bug report. and pray.

Very important to mention that after resets you can't go to Zeri until you kill the first boss (Grubbis) and Unlock the Clean room.

I can confirm that you can get the Spent Voidcore from even the caster naga's in Arathi Highlands (28x 82y) while doing the quests in the boats underwater. The Shadowy Figure spawned for me a few kills later but I couldn't speak to her at all when she showed up until I exited game and came back.

while i was hunting naga after i got the spent voidcore another played killed a naga and the shadowy figure spawned and i talked with them and got the mote of darkness then the next kill mine spawned the figure lol

The shadow figure also spawns on player kills, I've been farming hunter/warr bots in feralas and tanaris. Have had it pop twice so far right on their corpses.

DELETE CACHE! I thought it was tinfoil tactics but after 50 kills i relogged with deleted cache and after 2 kills it spawned.

I didn't see this anywhere else, but I was out farming naga after getting my Erschöpfter Leerenkern but before getting my Partikel der Dunkelheit. Someone nearby (that I wasn't grouped with) must have spawned the Shadowy figure and I was able to just walk up and talk to them too. Very lucky on my part, but just in case that's relevant to anyone else..

Did this today, (11/04/24), and here are my findings:

Once you get the dialogue from Ziri "Schraubenschlüssel" Miniritzel and go speak to Scooty, you can simply use the teleporter at /way 85.3 43.6
This will allow you to go straight to Wirdal Wunderrad , completely eliminating the need for the Quadrangulation quest.

The Erschöpfter Leerenkern dropped for me in 14 kills, and then the Schattenhafte Gestalt spawned 5 kills later. You do NOT need to clear your cache or disable addons.

You can then return to Wirdal Wunderrad and get the Makelloser G-7-K.E.R.N.-Prozessor.

The mote of darkness at level 50, phase 3

I skipped phase 2, so i dismissed the "clear chache" sentiment since this was mostly associated with doing this on your second character. I killed ~40 nagas in Ferolas (level 42ish), and then about 40 more in Azshara (level 48ish), ultimatly moved to the Satyrs around 50,20 since they were level 50+. After about 40 kills, i logged out, deleted my cache, logged in, 3rd kill she popped up. Just delete cache and save time

I have killed about 300 Nagas now with no shadowy figure spawn.

I wish whoever designed this quest a very fall in a woodchipper.

You DON"T need to delete cache or /reload anymore. You need to kill mobs that you can gain EXP from in order to spawn the Shadowy Figure.

It's worth noting that if you're trying to do this at a higher or max level that you STILL need to kill a MOB that is close to your level. EXAMPLE: I had to go to EPL to kill bats that were lvl 55+ to spawn the Shadowy Figure. GL all!

If the shadowy figure doesn't show up, delete your Cache file. May 22, 2025 this is how I solved it.
