If you can do the adds in Black Morasse without much assistance, then you should have enough DPS for Kara. It's a good gear check.

You may not be able to do it pre-Kara but do try to get your spell hit up to the cap.

For boss fights:

Spell hit > Spell damage > Spell Crit > Intellect > Stamina

A "few resists" lower your DPS in a raid dramatically and can cause a wipe.

The hit cap is 164 for fire or frost mages with Elemental Precision, or 76 for arcane mages with Arcane Focus. Going over the cap doesn't help, but going under gives more than the unavoidable 1% miss chance. For trash fights you can do with less spell hit gear and can even swap it out for more damage.
