Whenever you hit one of these mobs with a melee weapon, you have a chance to apply one (1) Venomhide Poison to it. The exact effect can be found here: https://www.wowhead.com/classic/spell=14792
As cncfanatics already said, it stacks up to 15 times with a 5 minute duration that gets refreshed everytime you add another charge.
Oh yeah, the Venomhide Raptors themselves are obviously immune to it. :)

I was attacked by one of these and it enchanted my weapon with a poison attack that lasted for 5 minutes and had 15 charges.

Im not a hunter but i was wonder stats on this and if its tameable or not. I have an alt thats low but may grab it for its possible Poison attack.

Wonderfull creatures these :)

There is a chance on hitting them that your weapon will get coated with Poison for 15 charges for 5 mins.

On hitting other creatures, they then get chance of a 15/3secs poison debuff on them which can stack nicely.

can't tame ravasaurs :( and I wish having my pet melee attack these could coat his claws in poison, but nope. the poison is cool though, attacking these ravasuars, when they cast their poison on you, it coats your weapon with 15 charges of Venomhide poison for 5 minutes. the poison stacks up to 3 times, for 15 dmg every 3 seconds, 30 damage every 3 seconds, and finally up to 45 damage every 3 seconds for 15 seconds. The poison gets applied fast though, so your 15 charges get used up pretty quick.

There is a glitch as warlock where if you have fel armors or demon skins you will not get splashed with the poison. Take off the buffs so you can recieve the debuffs for the quest

1. Head to swamps in Eastern side of Ungoro Crater.

2. Defeat Venomhide Ravasaur (Level 50-51) until one drop Idol of the Huntress.

3. Equip Idol of the Huntress and defeat 5 enemies in cat form while they are asleep.
b.Best way to do this is to use cat form to gain 5 combo points,
c. When enemy is under 5% health, cast Hibernate to put enemy asleep
d. Switch back to cat form and use Ferocious Bite.
*Killing blow must occur while enemy is asleep.
*Enemies must be of similair level or give experience. Can't do this on grey enemies.

4. Pay attention to your buffs bar to see how many charges your idol has.
-Once you reach 5 charges, right click the idol to learn Improved Swipe.

*I complete this with another druid by having one person attack the enemy and put them to sleep near 2% health while the other person attacked and stayed in cat form. Then we swapped so the other person could collect theirs.
