If you're a rogue and you can't solo him it is possible to gouge kite him to the BB guards who will kill him for you.. he should still drop the quest item

Hits hard, around 200-300 with cloth armor. Solo'd him as a lvl 48 warlock Affliction Drain Tank Spec. Sent the voidwalker for a tank and after I drew aggro I Sacrificed him and spammed Shadow Bolt :D

The kiting method definately works well for this guy, did it as my shammy with frost shock and as my rogue with gouge. Take him to the guards after clearing the way a little and laugh as he goes down.

Kited him a moment ago and delivered a finishing blow but was unable to loot it, maybe it's not always working.

I took him as a 50e. Did 300-500 a whack so the lock about had it easy. Unless he manages to make it to the docks by fear or some other kiting method, you cant drag him away from the island itself.

Solo'ed as a 45 affliction lock....what a joke.

Let your blueberry get in two torments and then use his Suffering and that should hold it for a while. Dot him up and Shadow Bolt him down, DC when he gets close Sacrifice your pet and nuke until hes dead. Ez mode.

Kiting to guards doesn't work that easily since you wont be able to loot the corpse if you haven't done atleast 50% of the damage to the mob itself. So preferable to ask someone to help or try when you are a bit higher level :)

You find him by running out of the north door of stranglethorn, then turning right to go to the east coast, then turning left up the coast. Judging by the map on here, he wanders the whole coast, but I found him to the north of the beach east of the BB gate.

He doesn't seem to have magic or AOE, just a ton of HP and a ton of damage. I used bestial wrath, rapid fire, and all my mana on him and healed my pet when I wasn't shooting. He killed my pet when he had about 10% life and came after me. I meleed him and killed him with 10 hp left :D

If you watch him for a while before attacking he will fart a bubble and then turn around and smell it. I was cracking up.

sif a 35 hunter could solo a 47 elite lol, he would resist evrythin and even if he didnt, u would hit for about 20s lol

Soloed at 45..got him to 20% when my pet couldnt take it anymore ,kited him the additional 20%He has no long range atacks or stun ..easy kite job

Sorry to spoil the "mine is bigger than yours" contest, just like to record that I CANNOT solo him as a 49 warrior. Definitely easier for classes that can hold him at a distance. Being up close and personal I was taking 180 - 360 per hit from him. Maybe wearing cost-a-lot gear and dosed up with pots I could have done it, but with an ordinary spec I would want a 3 level advantage.

To add to the pissing contest... I soloed him without pots with a 45 druid (mixed feral/resto). No kiting, no gimicks, toe-to-toe fighting and heals.

It was quite close though, and I have excellent gear (inc. Warden Staff).

Now, to add some useful info: I found him at coords (35,71) and I'm pretty sure that's where he hangs out (not all over the place as the map suggests). That location is along the east coast: leave BB by the tunnel, turn right to the coast and run north a bit.

Extra bit of info: if you don't have a coordinate mod installed, you can just make a macro that says the following, and click the macro whenever you need to check coords:

just killed him as a lv46 mage.

frost bolt -> fireball -> run/fireblast(so he doesn't go evade) -> frost nova -> rinse and repeat.

just have to be careful not to frost nova the crawlers on the coast.

Soloed as a 45 UD warlock. Just place DOTs and then spam fear. Used VW to tank a bit at the beginning, then used a health stone.

Soloed as a level 47 Shadow Priest with #$%^ty gear. No pots, just fear as often as possible, and mind flay to keep em off of you. Did use desperate heal, however. Dropped only the quest reward I needed. This guy has more HP then the 48-50 elite giants in Tanaris (way down south). I just got done grinding them, and had a much easier time.

Just killed him. Lvl 46 hunter, bit undergeared, BM spec, pet: cat /claw, bite, dash, growl/. Pet attacked, used stun and pet enrage, I used rapid fire, pet hp went down, put pet on passive, freezed the mob, healed pet, went out to max range, conc. shot, sent pet back and shoot. Easy. BTW dont try to kite him into BB guards to kill him for you, they will kill U! /tried.../

Does he drop anything besides money if your not on a quest? - I have gotten a Clam so far out of 3-4 kills.

Killed him about 150 times now, he hasn't dropped the Gut Ripper but he HAS dropped the Shortsword of Vengeance, and the Blackskull Shield, which isn't up there on the list

Was able to solo him twice with my feral druid, tho I was in my caster/healer kit with a good mana pool. Root -> nuke -> run -> repeat.
Had to chug down some mana pots but I have alot of those. It's pretty fun to kite him so long :)

Took me like 10 mins with me at 45 and him at 47... all I got was some silver and a war staff :(

Solo'd as a 10/0/31 level 50 Ret Pally. Bless wisdom, Judge wisdom, kite with R1 SoC and Devo Aura, HoJ and Divine Shield/BoP when HP gets low, and kite to Booty Bay Guards. Key is to maximize your mana usage, and switch to Concentration aura if you need to throw a heal on. Max rank Holy Lights only and just sit on SoC to let mana regen, don't bother judging. AA's do way more DPS and the disruption of the 5 second mana regen isn't worth the 130 damage.

Also he starts to walk slow like a normal mob when he gets low hp, so there's also that.

Guy hits like a truck even with 3k armor (constant 200's).

Well, this guy have no right to hit as hard as it does. He just ended my entire hardcore career.

I lost my lvl 51 rogue in hardcore to him (while using agility elixir, poison, food, health pot, rend+bandages and using all cds: Blade flurry, adrenaline rush, evasion).

First time I Vanished, second time I was about to eviscerate him at low hp and he took me by surpise.

So be carefull, just in case

Relatively easy solo as a warlock, level 43.
Using 恶魔牺牲 Void walker for constant health regeneration, which I in turn turned into mana with 生命分流, 2/2 improved life tap.
Fear spam & DoTs. He broke free relatively often due to my low level but casting Fear the moment he was in range, and queuing a second fear cast in case the first resisted made for a simple fight. I had a single close moment where I dropped to half hp due to two fear resists in a row, but a quick Death Coil sent him away.

I will note, I have close to BiS gear for my level and a 2.6k health pool.
Another note: I do not have any ranks in 镇压. An Affliction warlock would have an easier time since their Fear would resist far less, but on the flipside they would probably not have 恶魔牺牲 for constant regeneration.

Soloed him as a 46 feral druid with below average gear (mostly uncommon 30lvl+ items from LW/quest). It wasn't that trivial, though. For his level, he has a very large HP pool (almost 8.000) and hits quite hard for ~150-200 to bear (~45% dmg reduction).

I took the fight in a Dire Bear Form and to mitigate as much damage as possible I tried to keep Demoralizing Roar up for the entire fight. He isn't immune to stuns or some other CC, so when I got low on health, I stunned him with Bash and healed myself with Regrowth and Rejuvenation (or you can go with Healing Touch, which is a more mana effective alternative, although it takes a little bit longer to cast). In between my bash CD resets (1 min), I used Entangling Roots on him (bash should be always prioritise though, since you won't get hit out of dire bear form due to 1.5 sec casting time of entangling roots) to be able to heal myself too. It was quite a long fight, so Innervate was needed to get some mana back quickly (shapeshifting is sooo mana consuming).

You can also save some mana by healing with Frenzied Regeneration (just be sure to accumulate enough rage to get the full potential (1500 HP) - it is probably the best to do it in the first phase of the fight, because you can get easy 30 rage before pulling him (Furor +10 rage, Enrage +20 rage) without taking more physical damage due to decreased armor; then you can just hit with auto-attack to generate more rage (don't spend it for maul if you want to heal with frenzied regeneration).

It is definitely easier for ranged classes (especially hunters and warlock, since they have tanky pets and few CCs to throw in).

(Note: Unlike some other people on here, I wasn't able to pull him to Booty Bay guards in WoW Classic - after getting further from his initial point, he loses aggro and resets).
