Not really good for tanking at all if you have the other 60-raid trinkets: Styleen's or Lifegiving Gem.
2 min cooldown for an any class 900 hp shield.
This item is definitely a godly PvP item. I can think of a great use for casters to get off spells uninterrupted, and of course a general use for all other classes.
Before anyone says classes, here's who it goes to: Whoever bids the most!
personally, i already have
Arena Grand Master
which seems just as good
however, cooldown blows on that... so this trinket definately rocks!
this is excellent for a druid tank to compensate the lack of last stand. warrior tanks stick to the lifegiving gem. it could be useful to any other class though, but most people will use this thing mainly for pvp.
Face it, most of the AQ loot is mainly PvP stuff, including the sets. This thing makes no exception.
It's almost the same as the Defilers/Arathor trinket, but with about 300 more damage absorption.
And whoever says "Goes to Warriors/Druids!" is an idiot. BWL/AQ40/NAxx bosses can hit for about 1-2k, on a constant 2-3s swing timers. I dont see 900 damage abosption every 2 mins doing you , nor the raid any good.
This will be desided by whos ever guild fines it so I know there is no point say it must go for one class or the other, but if I was the guild leader I would say it was a caster priority. The reason it not the caster need more health, but that if there is a small AOE type damnage caster can not cast. If I were to pick on class I would say not priest, they have a sheild, pallies/shamies have more AC and normal better resitence gear, not ice mages shield. Resto Druids, Locks and fire mages, with Druids on the top. I play a mage but if there is an AOE damnage that is stopped casting I would rather get healed then do more damnage.
The restriction that has plagued the Arathi Basin talismans has been placed upon this promising trinket as well.
Unlike PW:S and the Arena Grand Master, spells will pass through this shield unharmed. Plan yourself accordingly, because it renders this useless in many encounters for both PvE and PvP.
well that sucks. So then it is mostly useful for mele classes I guess.
Kinda crappy. Like I'm going to lose the chance to fully mitigate damage just so I can absorb a whoppin 900 damage. If 900 damage is all that's between me and death, my healers are either oom or dead, so i'm going to die anyways.
i would like this for pvp but im not thinking ill get much priority on it and stuff....drat...
BTW if one could pick the best class for this trinket(unbiased plz) what class would that be?
this trinket is a piece of #$%^
needs to absorb spell damage
Fixed in 1.12.
Now absorbs magical and physical damage.
It is on a different cooldown than Lifegiving Gem, so you can pop them both with a single macro. GoGoGo 10k effective HP!
Cannot be dispelled.
When this dropped for my raid tonight it was like being kicked in the teeth.
Peice of ****. Better reward from the STV area at level 45.
Does anyone know if it has some sort of shield type animation when active? and if so does anyone have a screenshot?
reward from STV arena better? ur a retard. has a CD of 30mins and its not sure its absorbs the max.
the 1% dodge is a nice add tho.
dont think this is serious loot, every1 not being able to shield should be able roll on it for pvp =)
sux for PVE tho
what's the cooldown?
2m cooldown. Absorbs all types ( Magical / Physical ). The trinket buff is not dispelable.
only absorbs physical damage (reported: working as intended) - its as good as the defiler's trinket you get at friendly. complete waste of a loot table space :(
Got that trinket a few weeks ago.
2m cooldown. Absorb all damage ( magic / physical ). Not dispelable.
Looks like a power word shield, not a bad trinket for dueling or PvP with such a short CD.
Unlike Arathi pvp trinket, this one works for magic damage also and not only physical. I'm not sure what kind of PVE use this one would have, but it can be handy in duels and world pvp. Most guilds most likely give it out for free.
Edit. I used this today as a warrior for world pvp and battleground. I must say the item is amazing, the cooldown is very short so you basically have it up for every fight. I won ton of very close "duels" over Rich Thorium veins vs alliance thanks to this trinket.
This is situationally useful for paladin tanks, though not so much in raids until Naxx. When the shield is up it operates like a priest power word shield, and prevents interruption of spellcasting. I frequently farm the demons in Felwood by rounding up 5 or 6 of them and aoe them down with consecration, holy shield, the force reactive disk, and a thorium shield spike. Using this allows me to get off a holy wrath or a heal, which would otherwise be very difficult. Yeah, you could bubble, but this allows you to save your bubble for when you need it. Also unlike the bubble you wouldn't lose threat casting this if you are tanking.
