In theory this wand can crit up to 508 damage with priest or mage talents. Its overall stats though are still fairly good, the +dmg alone is not the best but the extra crit makes it great for mages and locks.
From what I've seen it wouldn't be too bad for a shadow priest either. Most guilds have at least 1-2 on hand to stack up the shadow weaving debuffs.
Contrary to popular belief, shadow weaving is one of the few (if only) things that can increase wand damage. And even then the wand has to be doing *shadow* damage for it to work.
Although the damage of this wand is nothing to laugh at, the main appeal of this wand is the fact that it's the only wand, at this point, to offer +crit to spells.
Also, wands get the full damage bonus of +spell, and in this case, +shadow, so this wand could kick mass ass for DPS
That fact also makes me wish druids could use wands... my druid could do some wicked DPS like that... (+107 to spells at level 49 isn't to shabby >.>)
Best wand in game. For an alternative check out the Wand of Fates.
I'd personally prefer Wand of Fates over this. Since most mages are low on stats anyway it's nice to at least have some on your wand. And you only lose 4dmg and get 1% hit instead of 1% crit (almost as good).
Wand of Fates is also considerably easier to get.
Hmm, it's pretty hard to make a decision between this and the Wand of Fates. They both are clearly good. This wand is pretty much and upgrade of the Touch of Chaos (
). The extra stats on the Wand of Fates is nice, but in the end, they aren't a big enough of a boost in my opinion. Plus this gives you +crit, while the Wand of Fates gives you +hit. You will probably alread have +hit maximized at this point in the game.
It might all just come down to which you have an opportunity to get first, however.
Well i got a thought about the dmg count on this and my math in this got a slap bc its not 55% from the main dmg its 25% + 15% + 15% and that is different bc if u take (146*1.25)(1.15*1.15)= 241.35625
and (271*1.25)(1.15*1.15)= 447.99688
in average count about 241-448 dmg on the wand ^^

Just to adress a couple of points:
-I do not believe wands intended for warlocks. While I respect the fact that they have every right to own a good one for PvP or soloing, it would not be very necessary even then, much less when running a high level dungeon. Again, a warlock should feel free to roll on something like this is he/she wants it, but that person should remember that other casters would have more use for it.
-This would be amazing in the hands of a mage. Magi run out of mana VERY quickly, and even with the aid of mana gems, Evocation, potions and other mana boosting items there is a very large chance that mana shall run out. My main has this problem all the time. When fighting several mobs I run out of mana, use my gem, use my off-hand to rejuvenate, freeze them in place and then Evocate, and still I run out of mana. It is at this point that I have sufficiently nuked them to a low health and they are wtihin range of dying. But no mana! What to do? That's where a good wand comes in.
-Anyone claiming that shadow priests suck have either A)Never tried them B)Never fought alongside one or C)Simply stick to their own ignorant belief that it is impossible to have fun whilst healing. On my <FIRE-SPECCED> mage, I am out-DPSed by Shadow Priests. Hold your scoffs and laughter. If it gets the job done and heals my frail little glass cannon body at the same time, I feel no jealousy. After all, in a one-on-one battle, we all know who would win anyways ;)
-The next person to post that this is a hunter or pally weapon, even jokingly, will be shot immediately.
In conclusion, this is a fantastic drop for anyone who can use it. If this were to drop for me, I would be on it in a heartbeat, but I would not complain if a priest or a warlock decided to roll on it instead. The only thing that could possibly annoy me is if some other class were to roll on it and claim it as "Financial recompensation for past dungeon exploits". Or disenchanting. Grrr...

I look at it one of two ways being a Shadow Priest.
1. Farming with this could be very convenient and mana conservative. Using Shadow Word: Pain to pull an enemy and then wand it, or Power Word: Shield and pull multiple enemies.. Using SW:P to DoT them and wand to death.
Currently I use that tactic with a Bonescreeper (never bid on any better wands) and it works well but sometimes my shield busts before enemies destroy the shield or the enemy can simply engage me with more than 75% if I choose not to PW:S.
The Question: How much would this improve my damage production using that method? And would it be convenient enough to farm using the Doomfinger after using SW:P to kill a mob quickly?
2. The PvP aspect of this, mainly from a BG point of view, is that as a Shadow Priest I inevitably run out of mana before dying because of the small mana pool that I have (roughly 7000) and the low amount of mana/5. Can the Doomfinger be used effectively to provide decent damage outside of casting to allow a reliable regen? In other words will it help buy me some time to regen by finishing off some players under, say 10% or can it be used effectively from a sideline view while regening/conserving mana?
The idea is to limit using mana unless I have to so that when I am swarmed by a few players at once they aren't all at full HP because I dealt significant "white damage" before they attacked me.
The Question: Can the Doomfinger provide this damage?
I know that the questions are near identical but the situations aren't. I know that my PvE method is effective with what I do now but I was curious if I could change it up to conserve even more mana and in a sense never have to drink to regen. The PvP idea seems a little illogical considering it's BG and I'd just respawn anyways but the idea is to stay alive and keep flags captured or provide that one hit that stops someone from capturing your flag.
The Reason I asked: I don't know the conversion of damage added to wands (if there is one) and I don't know how much it this wand could roughly do because I don't have any wand anywhere near its DPS or Max Damage.
For those of you who thing warlocks have no use for wands need to reconsider.
Sure we can lifetap for mana when we run out but then what? We are left with little life and some mana. Even in raids most healers need to be concerned with the people who are dying from actual damage.
If you had ever been a warlock specced demonology you would know that your mana regen is teh $hi7. You send in your pet dot and *wand*. Warlocks have little to no spirit which means that their health and mana regen rate is crap. That leads to warlocks needing to use wands in order to even think about grinding. Screw mages, they can get mana back more easily than any other class.

I've heard that thid has the highest DPS of any weapon in the game. I don't beleive that a wand would be the strongest weapon though, with the two-handed maces, daggers, and blades galore,
OK PPL GET A GRIP! All of you who are fighting over who should get this wand more are dumbasses. everyone who is able to use a wand has equal dibs on this wand. This is just as bad as the fight over wraithblade, only pallys were in on that too and they really don't need those sorts of passives. anyways, a lock saying that they are the ones that get the top notched items over all others should get a #$%^ing grip. refering to the locks that think that their class gets dibs over all others, you are the worst. I'm a fricken lock and all you people do is just drive our class name that we make for ourselves into the ground by being greedy and boasting about our power.
Yeah, I admit that I boast about my abilities but I don't do that to get the best items, I boast about where I'm able to grind at like shadowmoon valley at level 63 against the level 66s-69s demons near the entrance of the zone.
you locks say things like "us Demo locks should get dibs on the wraithblade because of the cleave ability of our fel guard." It's embarissing. All spellcaster classes could use a bit more +spell dmg and a +14 spell crit rate. all spellcasters could use more +spell hit chance, +spell dmg, and + spell crit rate. GET THE $%^& OVER YOURSELVES! All spellcasters have equal dibs on these items because they are what we strive for to get to the top.
If you don't like it, TOO #$%^ING BAD! That is life in general, we have to earn things. I would be real dissappointed if I knew that these were adults I was telling this to because I'm a 15 year old telling the people who are supposed to be more mature then me, these simple things in life that you should know. I'm OCD over electronics, very OCD over WoW so don't give me the OCD excuses because they're just a bunch of bullcrap.

With the +dmg I have atm, this wand would go up to about 323.6 dps! Just imagine if I had full Plagueheart!
