I've alwasy been partial to the sword/off-hand combo, but this has so much +spell damage it isn't that big of a deal. And the stats are very desireable over a sword/off-hand combo. The off-hands in Naxx actually are kind of dissapointing with the exception of https://www.wowhead.com/classic/item=23049.

Warlock addict you need to pipe-down.
Locks are not the be all and end all of casters.
I have both a 70 lock and 70 shadow-priest. First off, because someone is a priest it doesn't mean they must roll holy u nublet. An option for a priest is to be dps/secondary heal based char by going shadow or shadow/disc like me. So stfu kiddie... its down to what that person prefers.
Secondly, ofcourse a shadow-priest can duel and own a lock. I can pawn locks with my priest all day long just the same as I can pawn priests with my lock. Something you seemed to forget about is the persons level of skill they possess blah blah blah... not going to go off on a rant about why either of them would win but you clearly haven't played and/or learnt how to use a shadow-priest.
yes it's true that locks need to be nerfed as do hunters imo but you're clearly a noob to think locks win hands-down.
Go back to where u came from before trying to bully people into 'rolling holy as a priest or playing a mage or lock for dps'. if you're talking dps why don't you play a mage then? clearly their burst dps canes a lock.

I also checked your gear Hotmalin and you must be dueling some complete nub priests with the gear u got if you're owning em. Either that or you're dueling Holy spec's ROFL

This is totally at the top of my wish list for two-handers. Ultimate 60 mage weapon FTW. I wonder how many people will actually get a chance to own this magnificent damage staff before levelling past 60 ^^

this is just as nice for shadow priest and mage as warlock, even tho it doesnt have a diamond but a friggin skull on it.

As a Qiraji staff user, all I would be gaining from this is 40 damage, therefore I would prefer to go for a Wraith combo as it would be an all round improvement.

Okay, this may only have occured to me seeing as my main is a 44 BM hunter (that's right, I'm a n00b, I've never hit 60 ever) but, the icon of this staff is identical, and the name is quite similar, to Emberstone Staff, possibly the most popular alli mage (lemme rephrase that, caster) weapon going from 18 to 25 when some get Rod of the Sleepwalker, and some even have it until Illusionary Rod at 34. But I'm rambling. My point? Similarities are all too cruel. Makes me wish I would've stuck with my mage.

Like it or not, raiding guilds that actually killed Loatheb give mages and locks preference over healers for this staff. Of course if you're a PvPing priest or druid, you'd love this ... but then again you probably won't be in a guild killing Loatheb if you;re into PvP that much.

Good upgrade from the staff of shadow flame and a decent alternative to a wraith blade combo. Not the best, but isn't exactly hard to obtain (atleast not as hard as better alternatives :p).

So you want the Wraithblade / Eye of Saph but you want to decide if it is worth settling for the Brimstone Staff? Here is my analysis:

Brimstone Staff =

113 sp
30 int
31 stam
2 hit
1 critical

vs.

Wraithblade + Eye of Saph =

121
18 int
22 Stam
2 hit
2 critical

With the Brimstone Staff you lose out of 8 sp and 1 critical but you do gain 12 int and 9 stam for what that is worth. On it's face it looks like the blade is a lot better but this is something else worth considering...

#1. Just about every one of the mages and locks in your guild thinks that they will be getting a Wraithblade / Eye of Saph.
#2. In 20 Nax runs you can expect to see just 3 total Wraithblades based on the drop rates (16%) and just ONE Eye of Saph (6% drop rate) assuming your guild can take her down.
#3. Depending on your DKP/EPGP system it will be hyper competitive to get the blade and the eye, that combo might not be attainable for the average raider.
#4. Would you rather have the Brimstone Staff on week 4 or a Wraithblade on week 26? There isn't really any new Classic content after Nax so this is kind of it...
#5. In 20 weeks of running Nax you are only looking about about 6-7 total weapon drops for casters and you probably have more casters than that.

Recommendation: Take the Brimstone Staff if it falls into your hands before the Wraithblade. Even if you have a Wraithblade the odds of you getting the Eye are SO MUCH WORSE and everyone will want that too. You won't mind having an extra 120 hp and 180 mana either. You could probably get several people to pass on this Staff because their hearts will be set on the sword. You can get this Staff earlier and more cheaply and save points for the rest of the upgrades.
