Pretty much the best neck for dps classes until the ony tooth pendant (https://www.wowhead.com/classic/item=18404).

Choker of the Shifting Sands (https://www.wowhead.com/classic/item=21505) - from AQ 20 - has some nice stamina on it, but you drop the 1% crit for 2AP. All depends on what you're going for.

It is probably one of the best Fury Warrior necklaces come 1.12 patch (BC Test) due to the addition of a high of +3% hit chance. These new talents allow you to go for more AP which results in higher Bloodthirst hits while retaining or even gaining some Hit Chance for end-game raiding.

Eye and Barbed Choker > Onyxia neck! 14ap = 1 dps, 1 hit = 1 dps after 6+hit... If you have NICE weapons and 6+hit w/ 1000AP+... grab the eye or the barbed. pass the ony neck to a Rogue/Hunter. I have all 3 items. with the Barbed choker u realize a huge difference once u put it on. Onyxia you can hardly tell. even i monitor recap after every boss fight.

I had this necklace on my rogue but didn't wear it that much. I tended to favor the Amulet of the Darkmoon instead. What this necklace really lacks are stats, but as a previous poster said, it's really a preference as to what stats you look for. Being someone who prefers stamina, I opted to use the Amulet of the Darkmoon. This necklace though is great for a straight ap boost and crit to boot.

Level 60 Rogue, Alliance, Spinebreaker realm. End-game guild.

I'm writing this from the perspective of a rogue only. I'm a backstab dagger/combat/dual wield rogue. For straight-forward PVE raids, such as MC, I wear the hakkar eye over anything else. It gives a much bigger boost in raw damage compared to the Onyxia Tooth Pendant. I crit just over 40% of the time with my normal pve raid play style (and most backstabs are crits due to talents), so this neck gives me much more raw damage benefit than the onyxia pendant.

However, for soloing, onyxia pendant can't really be beaten due to the useful +agility and +stamina. I would also wear the onyxia neck for any fire intense fight (Ragnaros, Vael, etc on up).

It's all a matter of having the right gear for each circumstance, and while this is basically a suped up version of mark of fordring, it shouldn't be dismissed as many people seem to do here and in-game.

Got it today, on our first Hakkar kill.
It's great, the +40 AP is really nice, I need all the Attack power I can get for bloodthirst (I'm a 18/33 2h spec warrior w/ OEB).

It's very nice! =]
For Warrior/Hunter/Rogue with no priority out of those 3 imo.

Great trinket for many classes, but got to say this great for fury warriors like myself. Wouldn't say its great for PvP as Eskhander's Collar is likely better there with the +17 stam and +1 dodge, but if you want to go all out damage this collar rocks. Tank well specced and with high AP can kick ass damage wise. I pull highs of 2400 crits with bloodthirst alone with full raid buffs, which is nasty when combined with all the other damage you hammer in. Well kitted out a fury warrior can take a rogue in DPS in long runs like MC.

Who has the most need:
Rogues(only 1 atack-pwr pr. agi/str. 40pwr ecuals 40agi/str. it whont be seen in ZG)
Hunters/Fury and Arms warrior... Atack pwr. and crit is awesome for most classes, but especcially for those two, though they get more atack-pwr from their main stats.
Pally's and Shammy's (especially Enchantment shammy's, which must stand with Warriors Arms/fury warriors and hunters, as they can use it just as much as they can)
Prot. Warriors, who like to do some dmg. once in a while, or PvP.s when he got nothing else to do)
I've made this calculation through looking through most of the charrecters eyes, so i'm not guessing it all.
You are welcome to come with oppinions, so i can see if'm wrong somehow.

Just because Warriors get 2 AP per point of strength and hunters get 2 AP per point of agility (which isnt even the case anymore with the 2.0 patch) while rogues only get 1 for 1, how does that mean that a rogue should get prio on this?

I could understand if you pointed out a neck piece that gives 20 agility or 20 strength that is just as easy to get as The Eye of Hakkar (currently there is one piece that gives 19 agility which is super hard to farm for and another that gives 25 agility that drops in Naxx!), then maybe Id say that hunters or warriors should pass on it so rogues and shaman can get it. But there isnt a piece like that.

Blizz made this piece with AP rather then strength or agility etc specificly so that multiple classes can make use of it. A case can even be made that rogues and fury warriors should pass on this so that hunters/mortal strike warriors/enhancement shaman can take it for the simple fact that this piece offers no CHANCE TO HIT while there are other easily attainable pieces that have close to the same stats and have chance to hit, which is clearly important for dual wielding classes. And its likely that greedy people who dual wield will want the chance to bid on this, yet when the chance to hit item drops they are gonna cry for prio on that piece as well.

Either way all physical DPS classes should be entitled to bid on this, even though 99% of Shaman who are hardcore raiders are likely resto spec'd anyway and would be wasting this item (if your guild allows you to be enhancement then go for it).

For DPS this is a great upgrade for ony tooth, unless you desperately need the +hit that it offers. Nice for huntes, rogues, warriors; but I think hunters are more interested in Prestor's tali.

i dont care what any Hunter rogue or Warrior says, this trinket is for all three. i just got in on my rogue and its very nice (althought i did have to get a new bow due to the lack of stam =/ ) if this necklace had 10 stam.... my god i would never replace it, i still never might its a very good neckpiece and im an AP / Stam / Ag %^&*!. so yeah, again this weapon as Chaidh said is pretty much for any class that wants to do alot of damage w/ weapons, (but pallies, Decurse/healbots ftw.)

Well, lets have a look on some alternative Items. Onyxia Tooth Pendant obviously owns Hakkars Eye hard. So if ur playing Zul with some kind of DKP, pass on the Eye and save points 4 Onys Head - or some better Drops from BWL etc. If ur rolling on Drops in Zul - and ur Rogue Hunter Warrior -> Take it!

Just grabbed this today, beat 2 hunters for it (two rogues in the raid, one already had it and the other had Ony tooth pendant)

<3 for this neck, it's got teh amazing stats AND is more dkp friendly than trying to get ony tooth pendant.

its a very nice neckless, would look nice on my rogue, but personally, i think any class that uses melee as their primary form of attack, has the right to roll on it, even hunters (cant believe i said that :O)

I'm a warrior and I'd say it's more of a rogue item than any other class. Warriors and hunters should be better off with eskhandars collar for that extra stamina or for bit more crit with the onyxia neckie.
