one of the best healing head peices until naxx by far
Look, I'm a priest, and I would kill a Stormwind Orphan for this hat. That being said, you can't just claim this for a priest and say that anyone else who rolls on it should die. I could see a healing druid, even a pally, rolling on this and having good reason to.
All I'm saying is, the first thing everyone does when a new item comes out is claim it for their own class and say every other class should be shot. That's uncool.
That being said, gimme gimme gimme gimme.
This looks incredible on a fem priest.
/ 3.5 * = actual bonus to your spells
this formula only works for spells with a casting time <= 3.5s
I see no reason why a Druid/Shaman/Paladin could not roll for this.
In a group situation, especially for a Druid who is healing and not being damaged, then the item's being cloth doesn't matter.
I currently have Cloth Head/Belt/Leggs, because the healing bonuses are too great to pass up.
And by the way:
DKP > Rolls. No one will ever
on this item.
The mage is, of course, a clueless muppet.
The +92 healing bonus applies as the formula above, which isthe same as the listed benefits above. The one thing that it doesn't say is that Heal over Time spells that are instant cast, such as priest's Renew receive the full benefit.
So this hat would take the Renew from 162 hp every 3 secs to 180 hp every 3 secs. Pure gold.
BTW this formula applies to plus damage items too. Shadow Word : Pain would receive the full benefit. Mindblast at 1.5sec cast would recieve 43% of the benefit of + shadow/damage gear.
Actually, it's been months since euroa wrote that, and maybe he is a little more clued in than he was then, but spamming greater heal on MT is a viable healing method in a 40 man raid where the priest is not the sole healer for the MT. The support healers spam their lighter heals, keeping the MT above 50% and the priest lands huge 3500-5000 point heals whenever the support healers healing isn't quite enough... this allows the priest to regen more mana and heal more efficiently because many of his casts will be interrupted by mana conserve. This is more efficient because a greater heal with lots of plus healing will heal about 4hp per mana spent whereas flash heal will heal about 2.8hp per mana spent. Greater heal gets the full benefit of +healing whereas Flash heal only gets 45% of the benefit of +healing bonuses. If a priest can heal more efficiently, then fewer healers are necessary to keep the raid alive, and more slots are available for DPS, which means the mobs will die faster, and the instance will be cleared faster, and purple items will be acquired more quickly by all. Oh, those sweet purples...
So, the only thing said in euroa's post that was accurate at all was the phrase "spamming greater heals on MT" - he/she was wrong about which spells this hat would benefit and about who should wear it (it's a complete waste on a paladin since it has no armor and sucky stats and the +healing wouldn't add much to paladin spells).
Any priest who has halo of transcendence should use that instead of this unless they only cast greater heal and renew spells, as +healing is extremely beneficial to greater heal and renew but not very useful to flash heal. Renew (which is a hot, not an instant heal) gets 100% benefit from +healing, contrary to one of the comments above. Not to mention that halo of transcendence is much easier to obtain on any server that competes for azuregos kills.
Any raid leader that lets non-priests roll on this is run by an idiot or someone who is playing favorites aka an *!@#$%^. If all the priests pass, then it's ok for some other healer to get.
Renew gets full benefit from +healing stats. Only it adds to the total heal of the spell, not per tick.
Meaning that this crown would increase the healing done by a level 60 priests renew spell with 11%. (92/810). This is when calculated with no talents added.
Seriously....I mean....I'm a priest...yeah I would like this Headpiece...but...you guys are a little too sadistic on formulas and calling people names...and saying they're dumb..seriously play the game and calm down. :) -Duldruff
i play holy pala, I Heal in MC, but i would never roll on this, I would rather use teair 0 LF helm, so that our preists could advance, and become even better, and so helping the guild, Preists heal more, and so this benefits the whole guild,
Priests can't roll for leather/mail/plate items, so there is no reason why their options for healing gear should be limited further by having to compete with paladins/shamans/druids for cloth items.
In a good guild this would go to a priest and noone else.
As a now level 65 priest, I can see that Pre 60 this would be good, so I will talk as if I am still level 60.
Would I be mad if a Pally, Shaman, or druid got this instead of me? Yes, I would have to say I would be. Although they get heals, and it would help them, the point is I am stuck looking for ONE class of armor, cloth. Druids, you get two classes would raises your chances of finding an armor for you to use, but I am stuck on cloth. Pally would have to be the worst for me, because I don't care if they don't want to use plate, sure there is the extra armor, but what do you need that if you won't be hit? No need of course, but if you think that a priest that can ONLY use cloth would not be mad, when someone that can wear any armor in the game is trying to get this over them, would simply be insane. From what I have seen, shamans can't heal that good, but I havn't been with a healer shammy, because I am always the healer, so this is comming from a lower level perspective. Although they would also get help from this, once again priest are limited to cloth, Shammys can get mail, or can fight with druids over leather. Druids I wouldn't mind, if they are resto of course, because with what I have seen, Druids can equal out to a priest. So if a druid rolled against me and won, I would be mad, but simply because it wouldn't be mind. :(
Am I saying that this is only for priest? Course not, any of the classes that I listed would get benefits from such an item, but I think that priests should get this first, considering that they are limited to such.
I was just looking this helm up because someone had it in org and saw all this bickering. I play a BE pally. I wouldn't roll on it because it's cloth and Judgement or Lawbringer would be more effective on a Paladin. That being said, Druids wear leather and wearing cloth isn't much of a downgrade so I wouldn't flame a druid for having this. But what it comes down to is what your loot master thinks. If he says he thinks it could go good on any healer then that's that. If the Leader says priests only then it's priests only. Priests can't just claim loot unless they're say guild master or loot master or have a high rank within the guild. If a pally wants it and is loot master then you're just going to have to suck it up. Also, it's Azuregos people not Kel'thuzad! Azuregos can be pugged, you probubly won't be using DKP on this guy only rolls. People can 5-10 man him.
As a resto shammy this head piece would be very tempting, but I would def. let a priest take it first. Imo shammies and pallies should take advantage of the higher ac bonus. And if you want a really, really nice helm, there IS a better one, Fathom-helm of the Deeps -
, (if we go by names it's obviously made for resto shammy, but we don't need to go into such assumptions). Anyway, my point is, a if you have a pally in cloth gear you might as well get a priest. Cloth gear was made for priests. Just because other classes can wear it doesn't mean they should get to roll on it before the class it was intentionally made for.
Dropped of Azuregos yesterday.
