This is in my opinion the best priest chestpiece pre-Transcendance (T2). With the righteous orb drops nerfed to only drop off the archivist this is now a fairly expensive item to craft though.
Awesome piece of gear, especially considering you can attain it pre-raiding (intensively, at least).
Balnazzar in Stratholme drops the pattern.
only the most skilled tailors can obtain this pattern.
Attaining a maximum skill level of 300 is the first step to earning this relic.
there is no quest. Go get a group to kill this guy a few times and hope the pattern drops (or check the AH and bring your VISA).
The upcoming patch notes say the pattern will no longer be bind on pickup, so this may become more common.
I *believe* the pattern is no longer BoP, so it can be sold, however the robe is still BoP.. so to wear this robe you have to be a 300 tailor priest.
A working pic of my priest Cillowen (Perenolde) with her robes on.
The fade cooldown reduction is more helpful than you'd think, the mana per 5 seconds is good in long fights, and the + to healing stacks with other items (my hat, shoulders, neck, offhand) for a great bonus to healing spells (250 per tick renews, 1.1k flash heals, 3k+ greater heals).
The pattern was dropped off Balnazaar in a pickup Scarlet-side Stratholme raid, I was the only priest and they graciously allowed me to have the pattern.
Thanks to Deklevek, Anian, Revelarimus, Vyzen, Lentana and others for helping me put this beast together. Roll Tide!
The hit you take to the mana pool always seems really big when you are trying to balance +healing gear vs Stat. I have found that in long fights + mana regen benefits you more since its highly likely that you are constantly casting and will not be able to OOC regen your mana.
The following link is a list I made a while ago for my guild priests.
(the link is broken .. sorry!)
The robes of insight are not there but you could always add them on your own. (if you have excel)
In my opinion, Truefaith is the compilation of the two most important qualities to me, which is mana regen and +healing. I have the mindsurge robe and the robes of exalted but would ditch those in no time for Truefaith. However, I would keep my devout for a "stat" set when intellect and stamina become more important (such as pvp and certain high end bosses).
In the end its all personal preference, I hope the list helps you though. : P
P.S. nord-something .. lol .. its funny cuz our guild did math and found that +mana regen is alot better for longer fights, and that the amount saved +healing is greater than that intial boost to mana pool. Like one of the other guys said as long as you have other gear to compensate for the lack of int you should be fine, but again these robes are SITUATIONAL. Saying they suck for .. lets say pvp purposes is correct, I would wear my devout for that. In the end, I have two sets of gear. One for long MC fights, and one thats pvp. I switch robes when the situation is appropriate. Truefaith robes are far from sucking.
I have Mindsurge Robe which is a very good robe, probably the best "blue" item in the game for a priest.
Just wondering if it is worth to get Truefaith Vestments when I have Mindsurge?
+Healing and mana regeneration are probably the most important things for a priest. However, none of those stats are good unless you stack them. One item with f.e. 5 mana / 5 sec is not that good alone, only if you have a couple of other items which stack up your mana regen. Same with +healing.
The maths for this robe is very expensive, on my server the prices are like this:
Golden Pearl - 30-35g each
Righteous Orb - 60-70g each
Mooncloth - 8-10g each
Since you need 4 golden pearl its about 140g. For the righteous orbs about 280g and for the mooncloth about 100g. I have some mooncloth myself though, so I dont have to pay "full price".
With those prices, is it really worth getting Truefaith Vestments?
I think many people get confused when they look at this pattern. The pattern itself is not bind on pick up, it is the item that is made from the pattern. In this case, if a non priest makes this pattern, they are stuck with a soulbound item. So if you a tailor and not a priest, it is pointless to have this pattern.
All 3 casters have 1 epic chest they can make. You can do so that you just pick up tailor at the beginning, as it greatly benefits you while leveling (you can keep your gear upgraded easier)
I know it's a bit unfair that it's BoP since when you started the game you didn't know that the robe existed. However it would be greatly devalued if it was BoE.
It is an epic item which you have to learn to make. So you don't farm for the robe itself, you farm for the pattern. :P
If you're a casual lock/mage/priest, you should get your robe (there is one epic robe/casterclass) . Levelling up tailo to 300 is not really that hard, since if you're 60 just go low lvl instances. Alliance would go for
--->Deadmines (linen) ---> Stockade (wool) --->
--->Scarlet Monastery (silk)
Then you can get the rest by farming.
Mageweave is easily farmed if you get another lvl 60 to farm ZF (Zul Farrak).
if you think this chestpiece sucks cus it doesn't have any +int....go download the heal points addon. Truefaith has 1500 more healpoints than Devout Robe, not to mention the fact that it reduces the cooldown of your fade and has mana regen. And, I may be wrong but doesn't 6 mana per 5 secs equal about 60 spirit in combat. For anything besides instance healing, this robe probably isn't worth making, but if you do a lot of high end nstances (where fights last a long time), this robe is great.
Best robe until Transcendence.
For people saying this robe is better than Transcendence:
You're losing +16 healing and 6mp/5, but gaining
3 stamina, 27 intellect (405 mana), 16 spirit, 10 FR, 10 NR. Also perhaps your 8/8 set bonus.
You also lose your -2 second on fade, but if you have Nefarian on farm status, I think you're able to control your threat.
Ive been lvl 60 for quite a while but due to my schedule find it hard to make time for MC every week so it's gonna take me ages to get Proph/Trans robes.
The few times Ive ever seen this pattern in AH (and I always look) it has been between 500-800g B/O.
One day about a month ago I saw a guy in trade channel asking 350g. I only had 300g but said I'd give him all of it for the pattern. He very generously dropped the price to 250g so I'd have a bit left over to start saving for mats.
As a tailor I already had all the cloth. I also had 2 gold pearls and 1 orb so i set off the live strat and got 2 more orbs. paid 40g for the last orb and 25g ea for the other 2 pearls so i just had to get the ghost dye (which turns out to be amazingly expensive for dye ! cost me like 70g ?)
so all up 160g for mats and 250g for pattern = 410g on top of the mats I'd alrady farmed... but worth every cent
without buffs or consumables my healing gear gives:
~5800 starting mana
I'll out-last and out-heal anyone in +int gear of the same approximate item level
I also use Renew (rank 9), Heal (rank 4) and Greater Heal (rank 4) most of the time as these are longer casting, therefore receive much more benefit from +heal gear than Flash Heal
FH takes 1.5sec and the others (with talents) take 2.5s so its not much longer, but they start off more mana efficient, talents make them faster, talents make them more powerful, and +healing gear helps them more.
All this makes Flash Heal a total waste of mana and time for a healing specced priest
Even in an emergency, it's more sensible to PW:S -> Greater Heal than to spam flash heals. You use less mana and less time to restore more health
if you have a priest bragging about their mana pool and high int... look for another priest.
+healing and mana/5 wins everyday in instance healing
high stats are for farming and pvp
of course I also have full Devout/Virtuous for farming and pvp. Once you're 60 most classes are well advised to collect different equipment for different situations
I made this robe too, just to do something with my tailoring, but seriously this robe is over rated. Get robes of exalted and you'll do fine. :)
where does this drop? or rather tell me, how do I obtain that robe?

It's also BoP, which means that you have to make it yourself.
I want that for my priest!
Must be 300 Tailoring and a Priest to see the drop of Balz
"Reduces the cooldown of your Fade ability by -2.0
Does that mean it adds 2 seconds?
30 - (-2) = 32
Just discovered that they look exacly the same as Runecloth Robe. :(
made these just to try out different equip (have been hunting +healing equip) and I feel that they are NOT worth it. The loss of mana is to high compared to the added healing bonus.
A Flash Heal gains about +31 to the heal effect from this robe. The average on Flash Heal (for me with Holy talents bonus) is 991,65. To gain one Flash Heal worth of healing from the bonus you need to cast it 32 times, which is 12155 mana.
Pattern dropped for me off of Balnazzar in Stratholme.
12x Bolt of Runecloth
4x Righteous Orb
4x Golden Pearl
10x Ghost Dye
2x Rune Thread
This is the best Priest Robes in the game, even since naxrammas, alot of arguments around about the "spirit is better" on the forums but i'd have to disagree.. i have at the minute 25mp/5 and +480 heal, all i ever need to do is renew and shield my main tank, sit for a minute and i find i've only used a tiny fraction of mana, now if i get more items with huge +heal and mana regen, i'll hardly lose mana at all...much better than spirit
Someone was complaing about this robe saying it had no intellect or spirit....bah some people just want it all.
How do you compare Robes of Prophecy to these?
Edited, Mon Oct 24 17:03:48 2005
Get the robe, enchant it with a +100 mana and enchant your bracers for +4 mana regen, thus you get an uber gear surpassing all the blue items you mentioned
First of all I must add that it is a bit sad that it looks just like Runecloth Robe. At least it is one good looking robe and it could have been worse if it was looking like some of the others! :)
Anyway, I just wanted to add one aspect in all that comparing back and forth you discussed about the +healing. What makes +healing so good in say healing rotations is that Truefaith have a better health/second value than the other robes. Even though I might have less mana the added health healed per second makes the tank have a greater chance of staying alive. Then if you may switch groups more often is irrelevant as you most likely regain full mana before it is your turn anyway.
much better than prophecy
These robes are amazing for pre raid content for a healing priest. Nice passive mana regen and very nice +healing too.
Its made by tailors
brewmeanie you need to make it youe self its a BOP item
