Welcome to Wowhead's Best in Slot Gear list from Molten Core and Onyxia's Lair for Rogues in WoW Classic. This guide will list the recommended gear for Rogues to acquire while they progress on the first few raids in Classic WoW, and contains gear sourced from dungeons, early PvP grinding, professions, BoE World Drops, reputations and the instances themselves.

Rogue Tier 1 -

Nightslayer is your first Raid set, Tier 1. The entire set is acquired in Molten Core, which is likely most people's first raid.
You will want to, at least, obtain the 5-set bonus for this set. While not giving a significant boost to your DPS, it is quite nice to have when dealing with the opposing faction in a World PvP situation. As for the 3-set bonus, it can actually make a difference, allowing you to wipe Threat more often with
, as well as allowing Dagger Rogues to sneak in an
into their rotation. The final 8-set bonus is pretty decent for PvP rogues, with
, you can
twice and heal yourself for 1,000 Health!

at Ranks 12-13. Both PvP sets have good itemization for Rogues, including lots of raw Attack Power, Stamina and Critical Strike Chance. The Rank 7-10 set rivals gear in Molten Core and it shouldn't take more than a few weeks of grinding for a dedicated Rogue to take all pieces of the set.
The Rank 12-13 set, however, takes months of grinding to get, due to how the PvP ladder and ranking works in Classic WoW. Because of the time-consuming aspect of this set, we do not have it linked on the gear list below. However, if you have the time and will to grind out these ranks, the reward is largely worth it - This set rivals even the Rogue Tier 2 from Blackwing Lair,

Best Rogue Weapons
Classic Rogues are extremely dependent on their weapons for dealing damage. As you look for weapon upgrades on your Rogue, you will be interested in the raw DPS of the weapon as well as favoring weapon types that suit any specializations, such as Swords for

DPS Rogues
will choose between

, depending on what are the best weapons available. It is extremely important to keep
active to increase the number of your Auto Attacks (white damage) as you regenerate Energy for your combo-point spenders and finishers.
For
Rogue PvP
, abilities such as
are not dependent on weapon damage, making weapons more akin to stat sticks for PvP.
However, ranged weapons are usually just stat sticks for
Rogue
s, preferred over normal thrown weapons as they grant the Rogue additional stats.
