Broodlord Lashlayer Blackwing Lair Raid Strategy Guide - WoW Classic

Broodlord Lashlayer is a black Drakonid overseeing the Halls of Strife and serves as the third encounter in the Blackwing Lair raid. It's is a dynamic fight that starts long before you even reach the main boss.
This guide provides tips and strategies for defeating the Broodlord Lashlayer encounter in Blackwing Lair in WoW Classic.

Broodlord Lashlayer Abilities and Strategy
Broodlord is considered to be a two-phase encounter, due to the rooms leading to him being critical to the fight itself.
Before the Pull
The main challenge of Broodlord Lashlayer is not the boss itself but the Halls of Strife, the two rooms preceding the boss. With hordes of Dragonkin and many, scattered Suppression Devices debuffing players with
镇压光环
, traveling through the rooms as a group is paramount.
Phase 1 - The Suppression Rooms
Although the fight with Broodlord Lashlayer does not begin until you reach the Drakonid boss, much of the challenge comes from the Halls of Strife, the two rooms preceding the boss and aptly nicknamed the Suppression Rooms.
The main annoyance of the Suppression Room is the Suppression Devices, objects that constantly debuff players with
镇压光环
, a nasty debuff that severely reduces movement speed, attack speed, and casting speed. Rogues can disarm them with
, and so they must remain in Stealth at all times, disarming devices as the raid moves through the Suppression Rooms. Suppression Devices reactivate themselves randomly, so Rogues must also keep an eye out for traps reactivating themselves and quickly disable them.
Protecting the Suppression Devices are a horde of whelps (from all the flights) with a short respawn time as well as sets of
死爪地卜师
elites on a 20-minute cooldown. Hunters should be focusing on DPSing down the elite Hatchers, while Warlocks and Mages should focus on clearing the whelps. They have low HP, so AoE should be enough to dispatch the whelps, but a good tip is to carry different elemental wands, as different colored whelps resist different schools of magic.
The first Suppression Room is the easiest room to go through, as elites can be pulled away from the Suppression Devices and tanked in a spot that is not afflicted by enabled devices. The second room is right above the first room, and the raid runs the risk of being knocked off and back down to the first Suppression Room. To avoid this, the best strategy is to have the raid stack on the right side of both Suppression Rooms and slowly progress through them. Once the raid traverses through the second Suppression Room, they should get to the second to last cubicle on the top right of the second room and prepare for the Broodlord fight.
Phase 2 - Broodlord Lashlayer
Once the raid is prepared to engage, the Tanks must pull Broodlord. Positioning is very important because of his aggro dump and his
顺劈斩
being deadly to clothies. A good positioning for Broodlord to stay is in the corner of the very last alcove, on the top right of the room, with the Tanks positioning their backs towards the gate while the rest of the raid stands by the wall in the corner. DPS will want to start the fight by doing minimal DPS, so Tanks can establish threat and prepare for threat drops.
Roughly every 30 seconds or so, Broodlord will use
击退
on his current top-threat target. Knock Away will knock back the target, so this is why Tanks must have their backs towards the wall. Knock Away also reduces the target's current threat by 50%, so Off-Tanks must be ready to get aggro from Broodlord while the afflicted Tank immediately returns and starts building aggro once more. Because of Knock Away's threat reduction, DPS must be very aware of their threat in this fight—it is recommended to start the fight very slowly, with very little damage at least until the next Knock Away.
Broodlord's other important ability is

, an AoE knockback that deals Fire damage. Ranged do not need to concern themselves with this mechanic, but melee will also need to have their backs against a wall to ensure they don't get knocked into any respawned Dragonkin.
Broodlord's last ability is

, a melee ability that deals heavy damage and applies a 50% healing debuff for 5 seconds to Broodlord's current Tank. Not much can be done against this except pre-shielding the Main Tank and then spamming heals to mitigate the healing debuff.

DPS
During the Suppression Room portion of the encounter, most of the DPS (except Rogues) should be focusing on slowly killing adds while conserving resources.
Threat is extremely important on Broodlord, as the Tanks constantly take threat drops through the fight, so go slow on the pull.
Melee DPS should be very aware of their positioning—don't be too close to the front of Broodlord or you will take

s, but also make sure your back is against a wall to prevent being knocked back by

Tanks
Tanks need to ensure they have aggro on all adds during the Suppression Room.
During Broodlord, all Tanks must have their backs against a wall at all times. Off-Tanks must be actively building threat and preparing to take aggro once the Main Tank is hit with

.
Healers
The Suppression Room is a long gauntlet and there won't be a lot of moments to regenerate Mana, so make sure to play it safe and downrank heals as necessary to ensure the raid makes it through the gauntlet alive.
During Broodlord, the most critical moment is healing the Tanks immediately following a
致死打击
. Pre-shielding and HoTing then following up with high healing spells is a good strategy.

This fight is great for bear tanks. Pop that stoneshield and a pummler and tank that sucker!

If you are a Hunter with Camouflage, I recommended using it to run through the 2 suppression rooms. You might get some whelplings following you - just get to a good space once you are through and use your multi shot to get rid of them quickly. These rooms can be pretty annoying as you are constantly attacked by groups of whelplings that respawn quickly. And you are slowed way down by the pillars if you don't use this ability.
