Speaking of my woman, that concept I have includes her femininity, her age (being an adult), and her being my sweetheart. That one concept contains three dictionary definitions. But said definitions rely on context.
The important part of a thing isn't always the most salient part.It is important by the very fact that it is salient.

No, they rely on the concept I have of the reality. You (or another person) understanding the concept behind my term might rely on context, but not the definitions themselves, because all their doing is describing reality.

Not necessarily. That should be insanely obvious to anyone who thinks about it for two seconds. Just because something is prominent doesn't mean it's what's important.
Off the top of my head, I can think of dozens of works of literature that fit this. Take
The Jungle
. What's the point? Well, the salient part was the state of food processing in America at the time, and we know that's what was prominent because that's what the majority of readers thought it was about. But we also know that the important point of the novel was to show the state of the common laborer and his family in America.

If you talk about "that woman on TV", I doubt you are refering to her as your sweetheart.
Just because something is prominent doesn't mean it's what's important. Why else would it be prominent?

Why can't it just be prominent?
Silly questions are silly.
But they only apply within a certain context. If you talk about "that woman on TV", I doubt you are refering to her as your sweetheart.
Because that term is referring to a different concept, probably including both femininity and adulthood, but I can't know for sure unless whoever used the term clarifies -- it could so happen that he used the term to refer to a 14-year-old girl on tv, and thus that concept would only contain femininity, not adulthood.
That
is why you need to define your terms. One term can mean many different things.

Because that term is referring to a different conceptYes, exactly. Because it's in
a different context
.it could so happen that he used the term to refer to a 14-year-old girl on tvThat would be "that girl on TV" surely?
Why can't it just be prominent?Because then everything would be prominent, but at the same time, nothing would. Things don't just happen.
E: I'm going to bed so you win this one by attrition I guess.

Yes, exactly. Because it's in a different context.
A reality doesn't need context to be true.
"That woman on tv" is a woman in x, y, and z ways regardless of who uttered that statement and when. You can't arbitrarily say something is the cause of another thing, that's non-sequitor.
That would be "that girl on TV" surely?
Not if you went by the single definition of woman meaning female.
Because then everything would be prominent, but at the same time, nothing would. Things don't just happen.
That doesn't follow...That's the second non-sequitor "because" this post.
