How do you solo him as a druid?

Answer: Have a lot of gold. Either that, or an alchemist friend.

The problem with doing this guy as a druid is that he has a friend. His dog hits vs bearform with about 10.5k armor for an average of about 150. But his Frostbolt, which lands about every 3 seconds, does 550-600 damage.

If you're in cat, the dog will kill you fast, as you have no armor. If you're in bear, the dog is a nuisance, but the frostbolts are actually just as fast as bear's attack and do twice the damage (Because bear can't reduce their damage, while the boss has armor).

I've tried killing either one first, and the short of it is, you can't win this fight without a Greater Frost Protection potion. In fact, I had to use two each fight to kill him AND survive long enough to loot him. Once one or the other is dead, the remaining one is weaksauce, but both at the same time make for a very dead druid very fast.

In case you're wondering, I'm using

Head: Shadowcraft Cap +8 Agi
Shoulders: Atal'ai Spaulders of Defense
Back: Cloak of Warding
Chest: Mixologist's Tunic +3 All stats
Bracers: Shadowcraft Bracers +7 Str
Gloves: Gargoyle Slashers +7 Agi
Belt: Cloudrunner Girdle
Legs: Abyssal Leather Leggings of Striking +8 Stam
Boots: Ash Covered Boost +7 Stam
Rings: Myrmidon's Signet & Ring of Protection
Trinkets: Force of Will & Mark of Tyranny
Weapon: Warden Staff +25 Agi
Idol: Idol of Brutality

This all makes for about 5400 health, 600 AP, 24% Crit, 18% dodge, 10720 armor and 335 defense. So it's not like I'm poorly equipped.

When I DID succeed at soloing him, here's what I did:

Stealth into the corner, pop a Greater Frost pot. Wait for it to cooldown (Or you're dead) before attacking. Regrowth + Rejuv, shift to Bear & Enrage. Wait for Enrage to get to about 1 sec, Feral Fire Stilgiss and Feral Charge to interrupt his first cast. Unload Maul on him.

About half health, your Frost Prot. will be very close to failing; Bash Warder (The dog is immune) and shift out; pop a Whipper Root Tuber if you're got one, Barkskin + Regrowth + Rejuv (The dog will still be hitting you during this, so you need to get healed fast). Pop the 2nd Greater Frost and shift back to bear, Enrage and Feral Charge Warder again.

Just Maul him down to death now; I killed him twice like this at about 1/4 health left when he died each time, and still a bit of the Frost Protection. Then I just killed the Dog, who was fairly easy after the Warder's dead.

As you can see, even with 4k-6k damage absorbed, I was at about 1/4 health when he died. Without Frost Protection, you can't kill him unless you're really, really decked out - and you probably won't need these shoulders, then. When I tried it without the Frost pot, Warder was at barely 3/4 when I was very low on health and had to shift to heal; even with Barkskin for no interrupt his fast Frostbolts took off so much health that I was never more than 3/4 full after a heal. He and his dog just attack too fast; you need to be able to remove the threat from one or the other or you won't be able to do this solo as a druid.

So bottom line: Bring a friend, some frost resist gear (If you can get a good amount without having the worst AR for a bear ever), or a pair of Greater Frost pots.

(BTW, I tried it with 2 lesser because I knew I'd never be able to afford buying greater all the time - they just didn't last long enough. I've only ever succeeded with a pair of Greater or a friend along... and the Pauldrons still haven't dropped :-S )

just for the record, solo'd as 64 feral druid no prob, didn't even need to heal.

Just a question, I havnt tried to open any Coffers with my rogue as of yet, but he has 250+ in LP and all the locks have turned orange that require the shadow forge key. I can pick all the locks that ive come accross, would the coffers work the same way?

Since 1.10 he's been there every single time. Rogues trying to solo the Dark Coffer have complained that the "rare" spawn is up every single time they try. If someone supposedly is reporting 8/10, I bet the first two were before 1.10.

in Shadowforge city, above the elite elemental boss. Lord Incendius.

After Lord Incendius, you need to go up a bunch of steps, with Molten War Golem elementals and lv 52 dwarves. When you get to the top, there will be more fire elementals and dwarves before entrance of city. In the first doorway to the left, you will find Warden Stilgiss and possibly Verek. Beyond him is the Coffer room. Each Coffer key will be consumed when you open one of the vaults. You might want to have a Dark Keeper Key when you go, as there's one special vault there. There's 4 shivering golems there. not sure what they do as we didn't have a Dark Keeper Key.

not sure who this guy is off the top off my head, but with the vault room:

clear the room and then use 12 keys to open all the coffers (i would reccomend the tank does this while the rest of the group wait outside the room) almost all the coffers have junk in them. DON'T bother doing this if you don't have 12 keys.

once all coffers are opened the golems come alive and a dwarf appears and you have to defeat them (of course). after that, look at the picture and plaque that are on the left of the doorway (facing in) and it will tell you who has the key to the main vault. when i did it the guy had spawned over with the arena spectators (with 2 guards i think). remember not to aoe =P after he dies, you get the key, open the main safe and voila, regeant for libram + goodies from chest + heart of the mountain for quest (i think it's "heart of the mountain" anyway).

We got the dark coffer key and all, and the golems didn't do anything upon its pickup or use. It seems like they're the two outside the Uldaman boss room- just decoration.

Since the patch 1.10 he is always there 100% of the time. I do not know why any rogue would complain about him being there. He doesn't aggro nor does his demon dog. Every other demon dog can see through stealth except this one.

So he is in there and you can even fight him inside the coffer room without aggroing the mobs outside of the coffer room.

Basically everything that was once a rare mob in BRD is no longer rare. Lord Roccor, the golem guy (forgot his name), etc...

This guy is a rare spawn. He appears on the threshhold of the Coffer Room. If he is not there, there will be three dwarf guards instead. If he *is* there, he will be accompanied by his dog, Verek.

Unlike most of the other demon dogs in BRD, Verek is *not* particularly sensitive to stealthed characters. On stealth runs, this duo is easy to distract and sneak by. Once past, you can pull them into the coffer room and kill them. The dog is stunnable, Stilgiss is not.

Stilgiss is a frost-crazy mage. He will frost nova you and frostbolt you regularly, so be ready to be rooted and slowed. He's not particularly tough, but he pumps out a lot of damage. The same is true of Verek.
