Anyone know for certain where to find this?
It was reported that you needed to search the catwalk in BWL prior to the Vael fight for a dead or dying gnome.
My guildy with the quest couldn't find him

Drops off the goblins in Blackwing Lair. Some of them (4?) can be killed before the Vaelestrasz event, the bulk of them can be found in the area behind Broodlord Lashlayer.

if you run in quickly before talking to vael, you can kill the goblins that may drop the ore and hourglass sand (for chromag fight).

anyone who thinks this is a quest that you get the mats on your own is obviously not running hi-end instances, certainly not with a good guild. the point is that to advance through the end-game instances, its gonna help (if not be necessary) that your guild is geared up. same comments about flasks - someone might get the mats and use it for themself, but they are really designed for use in a collaborative effort....

Ive got the quest for thunderfury, i got everything except some ore to make the elementium bars.

Zunyr, how do you actyally reset/bug the technicians without needing to do a wipe?

Wife mined one of these out of a fel iron deposit in Hellfire Penninsula the other day. I'm sure the drop rate is horribly small, but BWL isn't the only place to get this anymore.

I know all about where he (Krixix) is, who he is, what he eats for dinner, what is wife's name is but please - Tell me about how many mobs / run in BWL that has a chance to drop elementium ore, Where they can be found (I've heard some are in Vaelastrasz' room, do they drop?)
I want to know because my guild just stepped up in BWL (Razorgore going down anytime now :P) and we have both bindings ready on our MT. How much further will we have to go before we can craft that awesome blade...

Can you still farm the technicians after Firemaw? Or has resetting them by wiping so you can farm them been fixed?

we had our hunters sprint into vaels room & use multishot. that way we could aggro some before they could run :)

If you really want/need the ore bad enough and the few pieces you get per clear aren't good enough, then do this. Most learning guilds clear the first night thru Broodlord, and all those traps and mobs upto the technicians will no longer spawn. You can now do the pulls from Firemaw's room which contain quite a few technicians(they wont run since they have backup now), and everytime you wipe, no matter how many you kill, they all respawn. SO, with the setup on BWL, it's possible to run in, kill the tech's, and attempt to bug the rest out or zone out. Make sure you loot before you do. It's not uncommon for us to get 5-10 ores a night while learning Firemaw.

The Smelting Plans are a drop off of Master Elemental Shaper Krixix, who is in BWL with the Goblin Technicians after the gate behind Broodlord Lashlayer.

Elementium Ore drops off of the Goblin Engineers, and Krixix himself.

It seems like alot of people are still clueless on how to learn this; Krixix is in BWL just before Ebonroc. He is mindcontrollable, in his MC state you get a spell called "Smelt Elementium" Target the appropriate player and hit the spell and violla, you can now smelt elementium. Krixix spawns with 3 level 63 mobs, sheep krixix for the fight, deal with the adds and teach someone smelt elementium.

Just a note, you do need the BARS for the Thunderfury quest, but you only need the ORE for the AQ quest.

You can also find elementium ores in Uldum, just have to skirt around the more desert area
