Both mounts do not require riding skill as they are considered spells, so Warlock players save quite a bit of gold when it comes to mount costs compared to other classes (Paladin players have similar class mount questlines).

After a Warlock player purchases the J'eevee's Jar, Xorothian Glyphs, and Black Lodestone needed for the Dreadsteed of Xoroth quest, they can help out other Warlock players by reusing the same summoning reagents, saving . The Warlock with the summoning reagents will need to travel to Dire Maul West with the other players since the summoning reagents are BoP.

Earning the Warlock Felsteed Mount at Level 40Summon Felsteed

At level 40, the quest Summon Felsteed will become available from the Warlock trainers in any major city (Stormwind, Ironforge, Orgrimmar, Undercity).

Seek out Strahad Farsan in The Barrens at the goblin town of Ratchet. He can be found on the northeast side of the town near a tower by the cliffside.

After completing the first part of this questline, speak to Strahad Farsan to start the second part of the Summon Felsteed questline.

Upon completing Summon Felsteed you will learn the Summon Felsteed spell, saving .

Earning the Warlock Dreadsteed Mount at Level 60Mor'zul BloodbringerMor'zul BloodbringerBurning SteppesPart 1a: 'Rage of Blood' quest chainTip: Both of the Part 1 quest chains can be completed alongside one another, so in the interest of saving time it is recommended to do both of them while you're inWinterspringandFelwood, before returning toBurning Steppes.

After speaking to Mor'zul Bloodbringer to complete the quest Mor'zul Bloodbringer, they will give you the quest Rage of Blood which will lead you to Winterspring to collect 30 Raging Beast's Blood. This blood comes from any of the owlbeasts in Winterspring, which tend to congregate at the Hidden Grove, Moon Horror Den, and Owl Wing Thicket.

Once 30 Raging Beast's Blood has been collected, return to Mor'zul Bloodbringer to complete the quest Rage of Blood which will lead to the quest Wildeyes. Simply speak to Gorzeeki Wildeyes nearby to complete this quest.

Part 1b: Lord Banehollow quest chainTip: Both of the Part 1 quest chains can be completed alongside one another, so in the interest of saving time it is recommended to do both of them while you're inWinterspringandFelwood, before returning toBurning Steppes.Tip 2: Have at least before traveling to Shadow Hold. Tip 3: It may be necessary to purchase multipleShadowy Potionon a PvP server, as the effect expires upon death.

Start up the quest Lord Banehollow from Gorzeeki Wildeyes and purchase at least one Shadowy Potion from them, as this potion will be required to speak to Lord Banehollow and Ur'dan. The Shadowy Potion grants the buff Taint of Shadow, which lasts for 20 minutes and allows you to navigate through Shadow Hold unimpeded (other than a few hostile slimes).

This quest will lead you to Jaedenar's Shadow Hold in Felwood, although keep in mind that there are two underground mini-dungeons in Jaedenar - the Shrine of the Deceiver is by the front, and Shadow Hold is further in the back by the corrupted moonwell.

Navigating to Lord Banehollow can be quite difficult and take some time as Shadow Hold is fairly large and maze-like. Once Lord Banehollow has been located at the end of Shadow Hold, speak to them to complete the quest Lord Banehollow and start the quest Ulathek the Traitor.

Ulathek can be found in a hovel on the eastern side of Shadow Hold (reference the map above if needed). Once they've been slain, loot the The Traitor's Heart and return to Lord Banehollow to complete the quest Ulathek the Traitor.

Start the quest Xorothian Stardust from Lord Banehollow. Thankfully Ur'dan is nearby, so speak to him and purchase the Xorothian Stardust for .

At this point you are free to leave Shadow Hold, so return to Gorzeeki Wildeyes in Burning Steppes to complete the quest Xorothian Stardust.

Part 2a: Bell, Wheel, Candle, ArcaniteTip: If possible, acquire all of the trade materials and crafted items in advance to save time and inventory space.Imp Deliverycan also be completed alongside this quest chain.

Start the quests Bell of Dethmoora, Wheel of the Black March, and Doomsday Candle from Gorzeeki Wildeyes. This set of quests is relatively straight-forward and just involves acquiring trade materials and crafted items, although it can be challenging if you want to take a more frugal approach. Fortunately all of these items can be traded or purchased from the Auction House.

For the quest Wheel of the Black March, you will need to acquire 25 Dark Iron Ore (requires Mining) and 6 Large Brilliant Shard (requires Enchanting). The Dark Iron Ore can be mined from Dark Iron Deposit in Blackrock Depths and Molten Core. As for the Large Brilliant Shard, these can be obtained from disenchanting level 55+ Rare items (although level 50+ Rare items can yield them as well).

For the quest Doomsday Candle, you will need to acquire 35 Black Dragonscale (requires Skinning). The Black Dragonscale can be skinned from any level 50+ black dragons, with elites and higher-level dragons having a higher chance to yield them.

For the quest Bell of Dethmoora, you will need to acquire 10 Elixir of Shadow Power (requires Alchemy to craft). The Recipe: Elixir of Shadow Power can be purchased from either Algernon in Undercity, or Maria Lumere in Stormwind City. The Ghost Mushroom can drop from certain monsters and nodes can spawn in certain zones/dungeons (such as Maraudon and The Hinterlands). In total you will need 30 Ghost Mushroom (requires Herbalism) and 10 Crystal Vial, although if you only have Herbalism you can enlist the help of an Alchemist to craft these potions.

Once the above three quests have been completed, Gorzeeki Wildeyes will offer the quest Arcanite. For this quest, you will need to acquire 3 Arcanite Bar (requires Alchemy to craft). The Recipe: Transmute Arcanite can be purchased from Alchemist Pestlezugg in Tanaris, and in total you will need 3 Thorium Bar and 3 Arcane Crystal. If you only have Mining, you can enlist the help of an Alchemist to transmute these bars.

Part 2b: Imp DeliveryTip: The Bell, Wheel, Candle, and Arcanite quests can be completed alongside this quest.Imp DeliveryGorzeeki WildeyesScholomanceWestern PlaguelandsRas FrostwhisperImp in a JarJ'eeveeScholomanceGorzeeki WildeyesBurning SteppesPart 3: Dreadsteed of XorothTip 1: Enlist the help of another Warlock player that has already completed the Dreadsteed quest chain and has purchased the summoning reagents, as they can be reused. This will save .Tip 2: Stock up on Soul Shard, as the Black Lodestone requires them to restart a failing power node (the Bell, Wheel, and Candle) during the ritual.

After turning in the quests Imp Delivery and Arcanite, Mor'zul Bloodbringer will offer the final quest Dreadsteed of Xoroth. Gorzeeki Wildeyes now sells J'eevee's Jar for , Xorothian Glyphs for , and Black Lodestone for - these summoning reagents are required to complete this quest.

Once you have the summoning reagents (or someone willing to use theirs), travel to Dire Maul West in Feralas (which will require the Crescent Key). To access the Prison of Immol'thar, you will need to kill Tendris Warpwood and de-power the five pylons in the instance which are surrounded by hostile Mana Remnant and Arcane Aberration. Upon gaining access to the prison, kill Immol'thar (located at the center of the pedestal).

Thankfully the Bell, Wheel, and Candle provide helpful bonuses during the summoning ritual. The Bell of Dethmoora restores 150 health and mana to any Warlock players in the party with the Ritual Bell Aura, the Wheel of the Black March protects all party members with the Black March Blessing by absorbing 100 damage from every attack, and the Doomsday Candle burns all hostile creatures for 250 fire damage every second. Recharging a ritual power node requires the Black Lodestone and costs a Soul Shard, which also has a 3 second cast time that is interrupted by any damage. If all three ritual power nodes become inactive, the ritual will end and must be restarted.

To begin the summoning ritual, use J'eevee's Jar in the center of the Pedestal of Immol'thar.

J'eevee will place the Bell, Wheel, and Candle out in their positions and form the Circle of Greater Summoning. This sequence will last about six minutes, spawning groups of non-elite Xorothian Imps and an occasional elite Dread Guard. The ideal strategy is to keep all of the ritual power nodes active (especially the Wheel and Candle) to quickly eliminate the imps so your group can focus on the elite Dread Guard that periodically spawns. Warlock players can use Subjugate Demon and Banish on either of these demons.

Once nine runes appear around the border of the circle, the demons will disappear. This downtime can be used to drink, re-buff, and heal up, and recharge any inactive ritual power nodes. Once your party is prepared, use the Xorothian Glyphs to summon the Xorothian Dreadsteed. At about 50% health, a dreadlord named Lord Hel'nurath will spawn. Thankfully the mechanics for this encounter are relatively simple, so once the Xorothian Dreadsteed dies, a Dreadsteed Spirit will spawn. Simply kill Lord Hel'nurath, then speak to the Dreadsteed Spirit.

Upon speaking to the Dreadsteed Spirit, you will be able to complete the quest Dreadsteed of Xoroth which will grant the spell Summon Dreadsteed.

Why does it say you need 35 Black Dragonscales when the quest says you only need 3? Can someone confirm if you need 35 or 3? Thanks

Guide not updated yet, but as of October 7th Dire Maul will be released on October 15/16 and will be separate from Phase 2. Dreadsteed should be available at this time.

How many Elixirs of Shadow Power and Arcanite Bars are required? This guide states 10 pots and 3 bars, but the individual quests state 2 pots and 1 bar.

Completed the quest today and both the Lodestone and Glyph are gone from my bags, only got the Jar left. Guess that it isn't enough to help someone perform the ritual, right ? Can someone please confirm ? I'd like to help some fellow warlocks x)

I first did this back in Vanilla and had a blast, but decided to be a bit more prepared this time around. I thought I'd share my notes in case they might be helpful to anyone else. TL;DR at bottom. Cheers.

You might want to get raid gear to do this, did this at fresh 60 and oml the ritual itself is hard as full group of fresh 60s

Tested in classic TBC pre-patch, you do get 150 riding skill when completing the quest.

I used this guide, and felt rather stupid for buying all the 32 scales, 2 arcanite and 8 elixirs that I ended up not needing

vendor price for the dust remained at 150g and the vendor prices for the summoning mats are also the same.

Completed this quest chain 28/06/2021, Post BC Launch, here's everything you need to know!

Mats Required :

2 x Elixir of Shadow Power
6 x Large Brilliant Shard
25 x Dark Iron Ore
3 x Black Dragon Scale
1 x Arcanite Bar.

When you purchase Shadowy Potion off of Gorzeeki Wildeyes it's 6g for 3 x Shadowy Potion. I completed this at lvl 65 and ran past everything in Jadenaar anyway, literally only needed the potion to talk to Lord Banehollow so probably only need to purchase once.

Xorothian Stardust is still 150g so make sure you have that before you travel there.

Confirmed as well, once you complete this quest you DO get the Journeyman riding skill.

Having done this and the Paladin mount quests back in Vanilla, I gotta say, I was extremely disappointed that the exceedingly easy Druid/Shaman forms were able to be used in Shadowlands the Maw. But the, at the time, much harder to get Paladin/Warlock mounts were locked off because LOLGenericmount.

i am a little confused. at 30 you learn the mount but at 40 i got a quest for it. i thought it was removed and what would the purpose of doing the quest for a mount you already learned 10 levels ago?

No more pain in a**, i did my trainers mount for 540 g ( have honored with Orgrimmar ) and mount for 90g, so together onIy 630g and have 100% mount, and no need to do that terribIe quest. Good Iuck.

For anyone who didn't read the guide completely (like me initially), this involves going to Scholomance as well as Dire Maul West. I got all the mats and did everything in the chain then realized there are almost no groups nowadays who run Scholo and practically none who run DM West (on my server).

I was able to get some kind level 70s to help but if you don't have some level 70 friends who are willing to help, it might not be worth doing this quest.

Start the quests Bell of Dethmoora, Wheel of the Black March, and Doomsday Candle from Mor'zul Bloodbringer.

Completing Wildeyes with Gorzeeki Wildeyes unlocks then, but then you need to turn around and pick up the next 3 quests from Mor'zul. My camera was zoomed in close enough that I couldn't see Mor'zul and his exclamation mark, so it was confusing.

Just finished this on SOD.

Mats are not at reduced price, back to original. 35 Black Dragonscale 10 Elixirs of Shadow Power, 3 Arcanite Bars.

PSA - You cannot click the bell, wheel or candle while tanking mobs. You cannot do this quest as a warlock tank, it must be done while dps.

Hopefully blizzard fixes this soon as its feels really bad to get there and start the event with a willing group and then fail it because you can't click the items.

For Season of Discovery, you can do this as a tank warlock (But it is far from easy).
You will need a tanky DPS or another warlock using the meta rune.

Defeat the demon boss of DM West, then have your group be ready as you release the imp.
This will begin the waves of enemies which will attack you, these waves will come faster and faster, and you will be at high risk of being overrun and killed.
If one of the relics deactivates, you will need your off tank to tank one of / the felguard off of you and for your group to kill the imps, this will allow you to relight the relic.
Having another warlock with banish works well for this as well.
Paladin BOP is amazingly good at allowing you to drop all aggro, just make sure your healer know this is about to happen. Keep in mind however, just because you're immune to damage, the attack of any mob will still interrupt your attempt to relight the relic, even if you're immune.

Only the person who bought the 50g lodestone can relight the items. If you are successful and survive the waves, all of the demons will disappear once the last rune (no 9) is active. Take this time for everyone to drink up and rebuff, it is easy mode from here.
The boss hits hard and the horse does a knock up and back, so be careful as the fall dmg can kill, it can also charge at random DPS.

I do not advise trying this with a group who are not all lv60. It is possible (we did it), but not recommended.
If you can do this as DPS, do so, it will be so much easier, if not, get yourself a group who knows this will happen and will try and accommodate your needs.

I recommend having no fewer than 20 soul shards in your back when beginning the ritual.

Just did this on 20th Anni server. You don't need gold or the items. Just find a warlock who just did the quest, go there and talk to the horse. I entered via DM north library since DM West had respawns.
