Hi there,
I just turned 70 with my priest the other day. I want to heal in instance/raid/BGs, but as standard WoW it can be hard to keep up on who needs healing, where etc.
Any1 who would suggest some Mods?

Grid :

Clique :

Pitbull :

ZOMGbuffs :

First off: you don't
necessarily
need any mods to heal efficiently. However, people swear by healbot and grid/clique.
I use visual heal
, which helps to limit overhealing. I like Quartz as well, it gives a casting bar which shows how long the spell has till completion.
visual heals part of pitbull unitframes. And its something that you wont see if your healers are using healbot.
healbot is bad.
doesn't communicate healing data to any other mods like grid does.
automatically chooses spells for you(at the wrong time and badly)
buggs out when pets are introduced mid fight
looks ugly
doesnt position itself properly
takes too much cpu for one mod
Only has single key/mouse combos.
doesnt have profiles for key combo setups
Only works for healing, doesnt allow you to click on enemy unit frames.
Seriously, I used clique and oUF (with its raidframes) at one point....so awesome and cpu efficient.
And if you want to say that "oh but healbot is good for buffing" then use ZOMGbuffs...healbot cant tie the mousewheel to all your buffing.
With ZOMGbuffs, i roll the mouse wheel out of combat and all my buffing is done. It also communicates with paladins using pally power (for those healing paladins out there).
I use grid/clique and man it is so easy to heal with it.
Clique is also far easier to setup key/mouse combos than healbot, as it operates from your spellbook. Where as with healbot you have to type in the name of the spell....which is frustrating when your tuning it during pulls.

I'm a big fan of xperl myself. I tried healbot for awhile and found it...wanting. Too many bugs and has a nasty habit of changing your spells. I've not tried the grid/clique myself, but just my two cents.

Here's another vote for Grid -- I would be
very
cranky if I had to do without it. It's awesome. Pitbull is nice too, but not as crucial for me personally. I'm not a fan of Clique, although I'm probably in the minority there.
Another one that people haven't mentioned that I absolutely love is
Quartz
. It's a casting bar mod that monitors your latency. Basically, there will be a red portion at the end of your cast bar. The longer it is, the more you are lagging. This is awesome for two reasons. First, you can start casting your next heal as soon as your cast gets into the red portion of the bar and your spell will cast normally. Second, if you are canceling out of casts when they are not needed in order to conserve mana, you have to do so before you reach the red portion, otherwise the cast will finish anyway. It is a much more accurate way to time your heals in both cases than simply relying on the default casting bar or your character's casting animations. It has a lot of other nice features too, but this one is why I can't live without it.

Must say /surprised at this
1. It does sync with other healbot users and sometimes can sync with other mods (usually need an extra addon to pull this off)
2. Turn off smartcast, fixt
3. Only bug I've ever had with mid-fight pets was it didnt add them to the list or their nameplate was blank, not generally going to heal the pet anyway so who cares.
4. Soooo click it and move it ? This is too hard for you?
5. I've never had a problem with its cpu usage, but this is a point relative to what system you're running so maybe it is for you.
6. I know I've never needed more than 20 spells linked into healbot!
7. Set it and forget it is one of its positive points
8. So tab to them....It is a HEALING mod, why on earth would it target enemies for you
It's looks are configurable, it's easy as can be to set up and the gui is actually understandable!
Oh...and really, take the time to set up your mods before heading to raid...thats just common sense.

It's all about preference. Some like the mom, some like the daughter, I usually... ermm, anyhow, what I'm trying to say is - try out both healbot and grid / clique. I like healbot, turn off smartcast and set up my mousebuttons with how I want them. But, important to note on my part is that I'm only an emergency healer, in the form that I have a feral druid, a ret and/or prot pally and a shadow priest.
ZOMGbuffs is awesome for buffing btw. Just awesome. Allthough healbot has a buffing component, I turn that off and use ZOMG instead.

I have got a build for 80 lvl priests(players on 70 lvl lets ignore points in discipline :D)
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=bVhbzZcxtccMqiuVIst
I know that many talents in discipline tree are missing, but this is only for main healer-other priests can take divine spirit etc.

why does everybody use grid+other mods when xperl does everything it does and so much more?
because xperl doesnt do what grid does, xperl forces you to create and drage out individual groups for each group in your raid. Grid will autosize itself depending on the amount of people in your raid.
xPerl also does not provide most of the features pitbull does, like visual heals.
My UI:
https://photos-2.getdropbox.com/i/o/ReBLPam8L0TqHGu9wgaK0JPAbmZSUe4j4GttaidojlE#2
focus target is on the right, target of focus further on the right.
my target is on the left but i rarely target people.
3. Only bug I've ever had with mid-fight pets was it didnt add them to the list or their nameplate was blank, not generally going to heal the pet anyway so who cares.
Heroic Mechnar, when you have a warlock and the idea is to heal the enslaved demon.
4. Soooo click it and move it ? This is too hard for you?
I'm talking about new frames introduced mid fight and the tooltips, both of which will appear off screen and might only re-position itself after combat.
Manually moving this mid-fight in black temple is not ideal.
I have also had the entire healbot frame stuck to my cursor....leaving me unable to use the thing until the fight was over.
6. I know I've never needed more than 20 spells linked into healbot!
Then you haven't used downranking and/or are not a healing priest.
But the downranking issue is moot now since lower rank spells cost more mana than your highest rank now. /cry
8. So tab to them....It is a HEALING mod, why on earth would it target enemies for you
This is my point, clique applies to all classes and scenarios, heck you can set it up to work for your bank alts or your disenchanting alts. And tab targeting is far from optimal. especiallly when i have my tank set as my focus target..i could just right click on the focus target unitframe to apply a damage spell.
shadow word death comes to mind, and as a shadowpriest i would be looking to finish off mobs to take advantage of spirit tap. not something you can do as easily when your tab targeting.
I would also only need clique on my mage for removing curses such as the ones in sethek halls that reduce the tanks ability to generate threat thus reducing the ceiling of my potential TPS before i pull aggro.
healbot gui is actually understandable!
That's highly questionable. i find the gui config to be illogical.
Oh...and really, take the time to set up your mods before heading to raid...thats just common sense.
people who say "it sucks when you're tweaking it mid-pull" you shouldn't be screwing with your mods mid pull
...
That said, turn off the "smart cast when out of combat" option, because, as someone stated above, yes, it is stupid, and usually doesn't do the thing that I intend.
Few things....when i said during I really meant between pulls. It is not fun to find out that the key/mouse combo you have setup prior to a raid isn't working for you during a raid.
When i was using healbot, i found it took too long to reassign my bindings, which ended up annoying my raid and often induced the tank to run into a death pull out of frustration.
unless you have a real scenario to test it in then you will end up having to change your setup. clique makes this process far easier than healbot.
"smart cast when out of combat" is for buffing. The portion of healbot i disagree with is the auto choosing of spells within combat.
You can certainly setup your key combos prior to combat, but i assure you that you will want to change these after you use them for the first time...maybe your initial choices weren't so good...on the fly tweaking is far easier with clique
and my last pet hate of healbot users....it does not communicate with users of : visual heals/pitbull or grid.
xperl doesn't even have a incoming heals estimator
I have no idea what version of healbot you are using, but that sounds NOTHING like the mod I use called healbot.
...
Hmmm.....
Then sir you are not using the healbot everyone else is using or you haven't bothered to look at the config screen of healbot.
these two points are obvious to anyone who has used grid & healbot :
Only works for healing, doesnt allow you to click on enemy unit frames.
doesn't communicate healing data to any other mods like grid does.
In this screenshot, on the right is the text fields you use to enter the spell names that you want tied to the keys/mouse buttons..
http://s.wowinterface.com/preview/pvw16619.jpg
Notice it doesnt let you make a combo like : shift + ctrl + left mouse button
Lastly, I prefer my mods to be seperated into the core components, one for buffing, one for the frames, one for the clicking & one for the notification to raid party.
Lumping all these in one prevents me from turning either one off on any of my toons that don't require all or any of these functions.
This is called bloatware.
edit: I looked at healbot again, and nothing has changed since i last used it.
It's still difficult to configure, ie, you still have to type in the name of the spell to assign to a key/mouse combo, the layout setup is convoluted and non-logical
not friendly to people with only three button mice
still auto-chooses healing spells in combat
still won't place the tooltips on mouse over of its unitframes properly
because it doesnt allow for multi key combos, you are limited to decursing out of combat or replacing a healing spell with a buffing/de-cursing spell
still slow or won't to update its unitframes when a pet or party member joins raid or group
still doesn't communicate healing data to non-healbot users
still chooses to obfuscate the healing bar and player name with buff/debuff icons
still opens the config menu mid fight when you misclick onto the healbot frame
still takes up large amounts of space
and lastly, still doesnt provide support for peforming harmful actions on enemy unitframes, ie it only works on it's own unitframes
I made a post here
www.lightnatured.com
at which i explain and provide screenshots for more explainations

Add my vote for Grid & Clique. My mouse is only 4 buttons (left, right, mousewheel, thumb) but using key combinations I was able to bind every one of my heals, plus dispel and abolish disease. I use ag_unitframes because it's
much
cleaner looking than Xperl, I've even convinced my roommate to switch from Xperl to AG.
I've bound my mousewheel button to Action Bar 5, slot 12 and dropped this macro in there:
#showtooltip
/cast Power Word: Shield;
/cast Mass Dispel;
/cast Power Word: Shield;
With this macro I set the tank as my focus and I can click on anyone I want (or hold alt to self-cast) to give Power Word: Shield to a party member, or hold shift to give it to the tank, and it's always nice to have a Mass Dispel at the ready. All of this is controlled using my mousewheel, even though my mousewheel is
also
bound to several other spells using Clique — it just depends if my pointer is hovering over a group member in my unitframes or not.
Also, a custom Penance macro which I've bound to Shift+Right-click in Clique, which will attempt to use my trinkets whenever I cast:
#showtooltip
/castsequence 14, 13
/cast Penance;
This comes in extremely useful while solo questing and group healing. Binding Penance to Shift+Right-click in Clique was good, but I wanted it to use my trinkets whenever they were available, which is why I made that macro. The part
must
be included because sometimes I'd be targeting a boss and try to Penance my tank and it would cast it at the boss instead, then I'd realize why he wasn't getting healed...
