Mage/healer isn't exactly optimal since you'll end up meeting half a billion drain / outlast teams and lose the mana war. Rogue is a good partner, plenty of CC and both can take care of themselves, and you won't have conflicting DRs. Another frost mage can work, but requires more skill than mage/rogue (more co-ordination and keeping track of DRs). Also, if you can find a skilled retribution paladin they are well worth a try.

Lock could actually work if he's destro... a perfect coordination of cc is required though.
Also that build question - you may want to try something like this

- it's a very high dps with shatter combo (nova, silence, instant frostbolt, instant, instant, cold snap, nova, one more time...) BUT you definitly lack survivability with it.

In S2, affliction lock + frost mage was a pretty good working combo, I wasn't very geard at all cause S2 came 6 weeks after I hit 70 on the mage, and I was still learning the class. We got warrior teams down pretty simple, but there was always the druid and sl/sl lock combos (most $%^&ing lame setup ever) which beat us pretty much every time. We got up to rank 9 as best until we most likely gave up when dropping to rank 25...
Now in S3 the very best combos for mages is rogue or SP.
