Best way to get this:

Get all the dwarves rares from Eastern Kingdoms plus the troll sword and the two fossils rares while you're doing the dwarves.

Then switch at Kalimdor (you should be at least 450 for Uldum digsites to spawn) and get all the Night Elves artifacts. While you get all the Night Elves', you should be able to get 2 rares from the Tol'virs.

After that, go to Outland and get every Orc and Draenei rares, which is fairly easy. After that, get the Vrykul epic from Northrend, which is pretty easy to get too.

I don't recommend getting more Tol'vir rares since there are too few digsites, same with the Nerubians.

I'm currently 19/20 and it took me about 40 hours or so, maybe more. I kinda lost my mind at this point.

With patch 4.1, Professor has become considerably easier to obtain, since several rares were added.

There are several items that are very difficult to obtain, especially the ilvl 359 epics such as the Dwarven staff, the Troll 2H sword, the Tol'vir one-hand sword, Tol'vir mount, as well as the Fossil shield.

It is actually possible to get 20 rares without killing yourself looking for one of these. The full list of rares is available here by race, so I have not included links for each of the projects below. The rares you can obtain fairly easily include:
Fossils: Fossilized Hatchling, Pterrordax Hatchling, Ancient Amber and Fossilized Raptor (4)
Night Elf: Druid and Priest Statue Set, Kaldorei Wind Chimes, Highborne Soul Mirror, Bones of Transformation, Wisp Amulet, Queen Azshara's Dressing Gown (6)
Dwarf: Chalice of the Mountain Kings, Clockwork Gnome, The Innkeeper's Daughter (3)
Troll: Haunted War Drum, Voodoo Figurine (2)
Orc: Headdress of the First Shaman (1)
Draenei: The Last Relic of Argus, Arrival of the Naaru (2)
Vykrul: Vrykyl Drinking Horn, Nifflevar Bearded Axe (2)

Total: 20 rares

At the same time, if you have been collecting these rares, it is also likely that you have come across some of the rares below as well. I have had mixed experience digging up Tol'vir rares, so it is difficult to estimate the difficulty of digging them up. Nerubian ones can be really rare, so I have put these as optional ones you may come across anyway.

Given what you've probably gone through to get this, a better achievement name would be:

Seeing as how all of the achievements in this line were Indiana Jones references, I think the title awarded for the best one should have been, "Top Man". Oh well. Maybe a future achievement.

This title is not a reference to any movie or music or anything. It's an exact replica to how professorship works in academia.

In academia a full professor (usually just called a professor) is someone who has earned tenure as well as establishing themselves as a researcher with significant impact in their field. Much like how this achievement requires you to obtain a great deal of artifacts before you obtain the title. A lot of times people with full professorships have the name of some random person who was significant in the college. My advisor was the David M. Reese Professor of Information Science (and I guess if you google that you can find out who he is) just as an example. Full professors also boast usually the most amount of funding as well as an army of grad students to carry out their research endeavors.

Academic Positions
Assistant Professor - You are new, you have not proven yourself yet.
Associate Professor - You've proven you can do novel research, but do not have the experience for full professorship. You get tenure.
Professor - You do novel research, have tenure and basically do whatever you want. Chances are good professors at this level don't actually do the research but manage their army of graduate students. (Much like my PhD. Advisor did.)

For those curious what tenure is. Tenure means they cannot fire you simply because they do not like the work you do. This is a system that allows people in academic research to research things that are not popular. This doesn't apply to things that are unethical (IE, You want to study what happens if you give kids AIDs.) More information here.

There is a level 85 night elf druid on my server (eitrigg) named putricide. And he has this title... I wish i could fly around named as an icecrown boss. But i do have a character named dora who has 78/80 exploration points. Another funny one was when i was in wintergrasp, i saw a level 85 dwarf hunter called salty gunslinger

The sad part is, unless there's a specific item you're looking for (I.e. thr Tol'vir mount like me), there's not a lot to do in archea after this. Maybe finish up a few of the set achievments, but otherwise you're done until they put in new achieves or items.

HNTD has given wrong information about the rank of assistant and associate professor.
Instructor is the first academic title. It is not listed as a title in WOW. Not all faculty start with this title. The advantage of this title is that the clock on your tenure does not start with this title. An instructor does not require a doctorate degree.
Assistant Professor is the next academic title. At most Universities the majority of faculty start with this title. At most Universities this title also requires a doctorate degree. The clock on tenure begins with this title.
Associate Professor is the next academic title. This is the most difficult title to obtain because it gives you tenure and the review process is extensive.
Professor in most Universities is very easy to obtain after you have become associate professor. All you have to do is stay out of trouble and be there long enough. Harvard (and I am sure others) is an exception to this where professor is granted to very few and is the most difficult to obtain.
Professor Emeritus is granted to distinguished retired professors that still participate in teaching events.
Only some professors have titles with another name in it such as the James Dean Professor of Internal Medicine. This distinguishes them from the lesser professors without another person's name in their title.
WOW follows the correct academic line: Assistant professor->Associate Professor->Professor.
