When I got the guards to kill it I couldn't loot it. But I managed to solo it at 67. I summoned it just outside of Area 52 and you want to counterspell it and get him to start casting his shadow bolt thingy. When he does run inside to Area 52 out of sight we will stop casting it and go after you. You can hit him with some instant spells and do the same thing when he starts to cast it again.

It's really not that hard.

Easier for Arc mages, as Slow https://www.wowhead.com/cata/spell=31589 completely screws their ability to do damage. LoS if needed, keep him slowed, and use counter spell liberally, and it would be pretty easy to solo. I used the A52 guards to help, but I'm pretty confident that, even at 67, I could solo one with some pots and a little luck.

there really is no loc... you use the beacon to summon it anywhere in neitherstorm.
Was a pretty easy solo for 70 mage. just be quick and try to interrupt casting.

i could solo him after many tries. he has a 1.5sec cast spell that deals 800damage (arcane) and a 3sec one that deals about 3k (shadow).
he also has 12k hp and melees for ~850. he focuses on casting, not on melee.
