Just done on Heroic Mode, Illidan Server (Not the first, I know. But the first strat!)

Skills:
Intimidating Shout: AOE fear, should be fine except that it's an aggro wipe.
Mortal Strike: Hit our feral druid tank for about 6k
Regular attack: Hit our tank for about 4k
Exploding Shot: Ranged attack for about 1-3k, does a stun effect for about 5 seconds.
Whirlwind: Was one-shotting cloth wearers. Can be avoided by moving out of range. Just make sure that you are out of range in a bubble...he was standing on the stairs and one-shot our priest, who was above him.

Setup:
Easiest way to do this is with all ranged. Have your tank with him in the area below and place all your dps and healing up on the ridge, where the stairs are.

Fight:

Have your tank keep him below where the prisoners are. When he does his Whirlwind, make sure the tank runs out. When he does his Intimidating Shout, he will wipe aggro on the tank and go after one of the other members of your group. As he reaches the top of the stairs, jump down and run at the tank to let the tank taunt and regain aggro, then run back upstairs and resume DPS. Pretty easy fight if everyone is on their toes.

1 Priest (Holy)
1 Paladin (Holy)
1 Hunter (Marksmanship)
1 Warlock (Affliction)
1 Druid (Feral)

Duo'd with a feral druid and holy pally, holy pally was really geared from kara and gruuls but we did it about 10 times to get myself two tanking rings

I set off the bombs (Night elf and 3/3 of the MoD like talent) Just wait till the mob you want pats farthest away from said bomb and put it off and then restealth and do others. After all are set goto the arena like stadium place have your pally drop down and pull the 2 pats of a rifleman and dog after both pats are dead go behind the 3 houses and after the third house take a right and wait for Lieutenant drake to pat their pull him back and wail away.

I really wouldn't think this guy is bypassable, since the only way out of the orc prison camp, is up the stairs, which Lieutenant Drake walks down anyway. So, unless your whole group can stealth past him as he's running down, you must fight him

I just tried this guy solo on normal mode, using Eyes of the Beast to kite the mobs out of the houses, set charges, FD and that 5 times.

Drake spawns and all the mobs that werent killed ( in my case every single one ) group up near the stairs

I pulled him and got ready for a kite, but surprisingly he hit me with Exploding Shot, an ability of which I thought he only did in Heroic.

Well my hunter is 66 so it couldnt have been heroic,
good luck on solo'ing this guy, and to save you the effort, just get a group for him.

The solo tactics take time to get right

just ran it on normal mode tonight, and i got hit w/ an Exploding Shot.

not sure if it was a bug or what, but i got stunned, and looked at my debuffs and i had an "Exploding Shot" debuff there that stunned me for a few sec.

I have a hunch that Lt. Drake is in fact an Infinite Dragonflight agent in disguise..

His aggro line: "I know what you're up to, and I intend to put an end to it.. permanently." Aside from the awkward use of the word permanently, his words suggest that he knows that there was going to be an attempt to free Thrall, despite us popping out of the future timeline without any prior warning. This would suggest the possibility that Drake, notice the dragon-themed naming, was sent there by the Infinite flight to interrupt the timeline in which Thrall was going to be freed.

Also, when he dies he says: "Thrall must not go free!" Almost as if he's already aware of what is going to happen should Thrall be released, which is unlikely foresight for some grunt tasked to guard an orc in a cage.

If you think him being a humanoid boss contradicts this: The fact that some if not many of the humanoid figures that attack you in Old Hillsbrad are actually Infinite dragonflight agents in disguise, is revealed when the Epoch Hunter makes his entry at the end of the instance. Notice how a few human guards walk out of the nearby buildings and reveal themselves as Infinite Dragonkin.

Finally, at the end Epoch Hunter says: "I had hoped to achieve this with a bit of subtlety (by stopping the heroes with disguised Infinite agents alone?), but I guess direct confrontation is inevitable." The Epoch Hunter, similar to Lt. Drake's warning, proclaims: "Your future Thrall, must not come to pass."

Oh well, just my 2 conspiracy cents.

I was farming for the Lightforge Armor boots and I had to kill Lieu. Drake about 7 times (85 prot pally) before they dropped. It's a funny fight because at my level you don't have to kill all the trash and pats to do the mechanic to trigger the boss (the boss triggers when you use your explosive given to you by Erozion the dragon after you enter).

I took my dragon to the hill just in front of the keep. The route I took was I went over to the first guard and instead of going across the bridge and down the stairs the typical way, I just rode over the wall (not pulling any of the mobs around the bridge) and jumped down onto the lower level, and went to the furthermost LEFT (west) building and zerged the powder keg, killing whatever was around me at the time. Then I went to the 2nd to left building (heading east, toward the long staircase) and zerged that. I ran past the pack of four mobs between the east and west sections with no pull. Then I zerged the remaining 3 powder kegs with the same strategy.

One funny thing is that the riflemen were always able to put scatter shot on me and I'd wander, dazed and confused. Which I think is funny since most of the time they miss me on their other shots. It was annoying though. So it wasn't a 100% I Win button being 85%.

So then Lieu. Drake comes down when the buildings get on fire and the orcs wander out into the open areas. At this time I don't even know or care if there's pats (sometimes there were riflemen with dogs, because I didn't care if I had cleared them).

The funny part is, Drake's a warrior, he's dressed in a typical Stormwind Guard looking suit, so you figure that out, and if you saw him do a whirlwind-type move, you get the hell out right? So when I got the symbol of Explosive Shot over my head and was dazed, I figured I had left some trash and was getting it from behind. Nope, it was Drake! I just found it funny that a nonhunter boss has this random spell and it actually stuns you at 85. I love it when Blizz combines different spells like warlock spells plus a shammy spell and you just gotta love it.

To sum, I did get my boots on #7. I got 2 cloaks, 3 ravenwing shoulders, and 1 really awesome black cloth skirt with skulls. Perfect for spriest or lock. And I uploaded my data as well. Have fun using my guild to Lieu. Drake.

I noticed his armor looks like the Imperial Plate transmog set. But what helm is he wearing? Is it available ingame for players, or just something special made for him?

I've been farming for the kilt on this guy, seems to be a pretty rare drop. He loves to drop the cloak, rings, and pauldrons a lot.

Heroic version:

Whirlwind: hits for about 6k on rogues, you are able to get out of range before it hits though

Stun: ranged stun on person with aggro if they are more than ~8 yards away

Hamstring: hamstring

Mortal Strike: hits for about 6k on bear tanks

Fear: small AoE fear

He does no magical damage so use amplify magic. Is tauntable.

Had a preist, shaman, feral druid, and 2 mages. shaman dropped totem to break his fear.casters stayed up on walls to dps him down,n heal tank. best to bring some pots for the tank. give yourself as much hp as possible. as he hits like a truck, even fully healed tank can be easily 2 shotted.

He drops a nice tanking ring tho, with 170 armor, about 20 stamina and defense, cant remember the name tho.

oh and thanks for the heroic info, will defo stay out of the way for his whirlwind^^

Just managed to duo this guy on Normal Mode with a 70 Feral Tank (me) and a 70 Arms Warrior. The warrior is in blues and some epics (mainly pvp). Taking the mobs of four wasn't too much of a problem, just focus fire one by one and hold all four. For the boss himself, we just burned him down and when I needed to heal (near the end) the warrior mocking blowed and I healed up and went back in.

Every PUG I've been in on heroic has gotten their %^&* ruined by this first boss of the instance. From a DPS's POV, there are two critical things for the fight: the healer needs to be on top of their duties and the tank has to break the fear/stun asap and reestablish aggro, or you're gonna wipe fast. I've yet to complete a daily when this place is the instance.

Yep easy fight, but for the record, this guy can kiss my ass :) 7 runs straight, that Kilt has dropped, i'm sick of seeing it, I hope I never see it again, I might find out where the game developers live, and then break into their homes, and kill their firstborn child if that kilt drops again :)

Unfortunately for me each run I've done he's dropped the Iron Band but kudos to the tanks that got it.

Still no upgrade for my damn ugly cloak...
