It takes an average of just over one stack of Cinderbloom to mill up one Inferno Ink (1 1/3 embers, plus 5 1/2 blackfallow ink per stack, so if you mill 10 stacks you'll get 9-10 inferno ink after trading in the blackfallow)

Which on my server, at 140 gold per stack of Cinderbloom, means I lost about 15,000 gold getting my skill to 525.. hmm..

Those who are looking for a quick and cheap way to farm this, try flying a route around the grassy areas of Uldum. Whiptail is extremely common in that area and has the best droprate for Burning Embers along with Twilight Jasmine (which is now a huge pain to find after its spawns got nerfed).

It's recommended to not do this in peak hours though, because the area is usually overfarmed then, but it's practically deserted in the evenings and mornings.

You can also trade in ten of the Blackfallow inks for one Inferno ink at Jessica Sellers in Dalaran if desperate. The cheapest way to level after 505 skill is to do the Forged Documents quest daily, but it has a 24 hour cooldown. Still, if you don't mind waiting two weeks to max skill (on your alt or what have you), it isn't bad.

like riverstyx said, the best rate for infernos are whiptail but i found farming tol barad swamp is better then uldum, the spawnrate is crazy and you can just farm them while you que for attacking tol barad...everyone else is focused on winning you can just farm herbs...since your gonna lose anyways it's a free 75 honor and an unfarmed zone for about 30 minutes...it's like a bonus stage!

The best way is still making the ink yourself;) Just grind Whiptail. If you don't want to grind you can always buy it from AH ;)

Next steps depend on your server economy. As for me (EU-Auchindoun/Alliance) the most profitable is to turn all Ashen Pigment I got into Mysterious Fortune Card.
Cards are sold for 12g each making 10 Blackfallow Ink worth about 115g. And stack of Whiptail can be purchased for 100g. Ofc it is a lot of running from AH to mailbox and back. But you can earn money this way making subj :)

Here are the results of a bit larger sample of milling than others have posted: Ultimately my ratio was 1.68 inferno ink to 1 stack of whiptail. This assumes you trade all your blackfallow ink for inferno. For Darkmoon Card purposes you would need 10/1.68 = 5.95 stacks ~ 6 stacks of whiptail and 30 volatile life per darkmoon card created.

Details of Milling Operation:

570 stacks of whiptail milled

1230 burning embers =
615 inferno ink from Burning Ember

6869 ashen pigment =
3434.5 blackfallow ink =
343.45 inferno ink from trader

total inferno ink = 958.45

ratio of inferno ink to stacks of whiptail =

This thing sells on my realm for 6g / piece....Blackfallow ink sells for 12g / piece.

You can trade 10 blackfallows inks (120g) for 1 inferno ink (6g)....which means this is absolutely useless thing and i have no idea how what to do with it....

Anyone knows what's the best way to make profit from this? Cuz selling it on AH for 6g seems rather crazy...

You can bleed surplus Inferno Ink off by crafting the Etched Horn. Have a goblin character buy the horns from the vendor for extra profit. Disenchant the horns and sell the shards.
