Hey everyone, as you may already know I've compiled a list of the best Volatile and Embersilk locations so I decided it was time to get on with making some Savage Leather & Blackened Dragonscale Farming guides. So, below you will find the best places I've found to farm for Savage Leather and Blackened Dragonscales. These actually gave skillups in leatherworking for combining into normal leather from 431 up to 448 (then i ran out of scraps).

Anyone knows how far you can do that? That might make these things worth farming over normal leather..

Points stop being awarded at 450 LW. If you look at the "Reagent For" tab it shows orange at 425, yellow at 435, green at 442, and gray at 450. Hope this helps because I was actually coming here looking for that exact answer =D

I farmed scraps in Sethria's Roost. It'll be faster if you have the quest and the item to kill the juggernauts. They respawn quickly but if you've already done the quest you can skin other players' kills along with the normal dragonkin.

If you're specifically after scraps, go to Mount Hyjal, northwest corner, where the bear cubs are trapped in the trees. There are 6 Pacified Grizzly Bears that spawn within 100 yards of one another. They instantly respawn when there are less than 3 alive, and they are low enough level to drop scraps quite frequently. I farmed out 5 stacks of scraps in 30 minutes, and a fair amount of savage leather on top of that (84 hunter leveling LW).

These are great for Leatherworking being leveled post-Lich King as they the first type of leather you will be getting from Cataclysm mobs.
The best method of farming I have found is the bears in the Whistling Grove west of the Grove of Aessina (Northwest corner of Hyjal, where the bear trampoline toss is). There are eight that spawn in a circle around this small area. What makes them amazing to farm is that once you've killed the majority of them, they will force respawn. So no matter how fast you kill them, there will always be a living one less than twenty yards away. One thing to note is that once you've unlocked your Molten Front dailies in that area, they will no longer spawn and are replaced with the inferno dogs.

So far, the best place I've found is right outside the ship where you land in Vashj'ir. Once you do the quest to get your Sea Legs, the Splitclaw Skitterers are a great source of scraps. If you can take a couple hits or aoe, they are easy to gather up in groups of 4-8 for fast killing. Since they're also a quest mob, they have a quick respawn timer as well as being extremely prolific all across the initial questing area.
