I had a friend make this for me when i was level 72 since he was leveling up his leatherworking, but since then i've gotten Screeching Cape from Violet Hold.

The screeching cape provides more defense, comparable str/stam and more expertise for a bit less armor. I don't think this is worth making from a prot warrior point of view.

For a tanking druid, this cape is an excellent choice, due to the bonus armor. Even for other tanks, I would argue this would be a decent alternative to the Screeching Cape simply because it would be easy to find a LW to make it for you.

For those of you coming off of epic BC items, this cape is roughly comparable to the badge item: Slikk's Cloak of Placation, which I have. Differential stats:

Tormented Skies:
11 Sta
31 Str
8 Defense

Slikk's:
9 Armor
25 Dodge

I would argue for using Tormented Skies over Slikk's for the extra DPS output for those mid-70 level instances and group encounters -- don't really need as much damage mitigation and avoidance at these levels, IMO.

I also just picked this piece up as a druid tank. Even though blizz is cutting our armor multiplier from back items (along with rings, trinkets, and they'll eventually be getting rid of the armor stat on feral weapons), it's still a great piece and relatively easy to get made for you.

I paid 40g for mine last night. I farmed the crystallized elements in the Northern area of Borean Tundra (just West of the Northern most FP), and the Leather worker provided the leather. Not a bad deal imo.

This has more armor than the Screeching Cape, and would be ideal for tanks who haven't got the Cape yet.
Fortunately, I got my Cape first run, so I never needed it (needed the Cloak), but a feral/resto druid friend of mine uses the Cloak. =D
