I got a little upset when I saw there weren't very many entry level 80 tanking items with Shield Block Value on them. My threat actually dropped upon getting into 80s instances because it was so sparse.

This is a good neck to grab to hold you over 'til you start getting epics from heroics/badge vendors/raids to help keep your threat up.

Drop rate isn't too bad even on normal. It's actually not hard to obtain.

Given the strength, stamina, and defense rating, this is actually a decent starter DK tanking item. Yes, there is worthless block value on it, but block value doesn't shift the item level much, and there certainly isn't a surplus of DK tanking necks dropping on normal mode.
Besides, block value isn't very valuable on bosses to anyone, and that's the important thing to be geared for. Don't "lol block" at it if you're a DK trying to get geared, you probably won't replace it until you're well into heroics or spending a couple K gold.

Something realy funny happened today to me. :D I bought it on AH, and when I was helping in Gundrak to my guildies few minutes later pendant dropped after first boss encounter, first pack of mobs after the fight. Its quite cheap at ah (40g at my server), but if you realy dont want spend ur money on AH BoEs its realy possible to farm it. Good drop rate.

Get this if your starting prot war pvp, good stats plus the 87 shield block value is great for a low cost AH item. Got mine for 35g.
