Lovely belt, but as a caster 2/4 epics from this boss are very nice for a cloth wearer (wand + belt. belt is even nice for a moonkin.)

However after running the instance nine days in a row only this belt has dropped.

After about the 5th time the guild tanks all started lining up to go with me, and not to disappoint them I had the good fortune of seeing the belt drop 4 more times in a row.

Have no idea how you can say this is better than https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=39759. Less dodge but you have parry and hit. And if it wasn't enough, you have a BLUE socket with def bonus, so just stack your +24sta in there and you've got yourself a +1240hp belt with a +6 def bonus belt.

Even the emblems belt https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=40689 with +24sta stone is better imo. Wins on everything but dodge. I rather have parry than dodge, definetly.

Yes, the belt is worth the runs as it is very good, but seriously, i don't know why.

Only thing you can say about it is that it's probably easier to get it. Which isn't exactly true, already killed anub'arak 7 times and still no drop.

Tanks - crit immune > stamina > mitigation > avoidance.

Keep that in mind.

IF a tank needs to parry to sustain high enough TPS... something is wrong and its not in the gear..

parry is one of those stats we take because its there.. honestly I cant find any site/ forum etc that will tell you to "stack parry" why?

because a parried blow sends the next one at you faster. its okay for what it is.. but in the scheme of things dodge will trump it anyday.

now that crushing blows are not a concern paladins at least will take parry to be block capped.. even then I dont htink we'll be gemming for it ever.

Id even be surprised to see DKs gemming for parry..

For Pure avoidance I would agree with you in most cases.

In terms of how effective parry is as a general stat, I would say it's quite a bit more valued for Death Knight tanks.

(a) this effect is more pronounced with slower melee weapons, and (b) weapon-based threat is generally not significant enough for this to make much of a difference

For point A. We generally tank with a 2H weapon and thus this mechanic will benefit us due to their inherent slow speed. Furthermore, abilities like Rune Strike, which are on next attack will benefit from this slightly, as they will strike the target more quickly increasing TPS.

For point B. That statement doesn't exactly hold for us. Since we are essentially DPSing for TPS as we tank weapon-based threat is quite important, more so for Blood tanks, since they use more melee abilities than any other spec.

You parrying speeds up your own next swing, not the bosses next swing.

Only partially correct. When you attack more often, the boss will also have more chances to parry and hasten his attack, unless you are expertise capped for parry. That way your parry can increase the boss' damage indirectly.

I just got this belt and put an eternal belt buckle and +24 stam gem in it. Not sure if the gem was the right choice or if I should have gone more avoidance? Any help in this would be greatly appreciated.

If you are starved for avoidance/mitigation in a certain area (dodge/Def etc..) then gem it accordingly, but no one will tell you that you did something wrong by gemming it with stam.

Easily the best tanking piece of gear in heroics for plate tanks. Still using it while tanking 25m Naxx.
