This bag was designed with 3 slots of rewards :

1. first slot will be always gold, normally about 6-7G

2. second slot will be fishing related,

I can confirm everything on this list except for the lock and the statuette comes from fishing treasures.

I also have seen the Recipe: Captain Rumsey's Lager and Razor Sharp Fillet Knife

sadly no pieces of the "noble's set" or the 2 ring :(

There is also supposed to be a +3 fishing line.

On Live today, my Fishing Treasures bag had 4 slots (in order):

Gold
Recipe
Fish Hooks
Gray Vendor Trash.

Perhaps the 4th slot is a "bonus items" slot to get the greens/blues from.

My alt did the quest and got (in order):

Truesilver Line
Fish Hooks
Gray Vendor Trash
Weatherbeaten Journal (My only alt who didn't already know it).

Looks like there are 5 slots, but the fifth could be reserved for the journal, which you won't see if you already know Track Fish.

It looks like it's more appropriate for:
Slot 1: Gold
Slot 2: Chance at a Rare Item (Fishing Hat, Recipe, etc)
Slot 3: Fishing-related item (Fish Hooks, Elixirs)
Slot 4: Gray Vendor Trash or the white "surprises" mentioned above
Slot 5: Journal if you don't already know it.

I just got the Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat (https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=33820) from my bag of treasures today, first time doing the fishing daily. :)

I posted the below on the other Bag of Fishing Treasures page (for some reason there's two). There's a little more info in it than the above post.

Each Bag of Fishing Treasures contains around 7g (increased since 14 February), a regular treasure, a minor or junk item, and rarely a "notable" treasure.

There are two regular treasures, one of which seems to always be found in each Bag of Fishing Treasures:

1-3 Elixir of Water Walking
"Allows you to walk across water for 10 minutes." Classified as a Guardian Elixir. Requires level 24 to use.

4-6 Sharpened Fish Hook
Like the Aquadynamic Fish Attractor, it requires a fishing skill of 100+ and lasts 10 minutes.

If you do not already know the Find Fish (pool tracking) ability, it is possible to get a Weather-Beaten Journal as a reward.

Notable treasures are far less common:
(The majority of Bags of Fishing Treasures will not contain any of these items)

Bucket Pets:
Baby crocolisk non-combat pets.
Chuck's Bucket, Muckbreath's Bucket, Snarly's Bucket, and Toothy's Bucket.

Eye of the Sea
Unique-equipped blue gem, giving +15 stamina.

Recipe: Captain Rumsey's Lager
The recipe allows the cook to make Captain Rumsey's Lager, which when consumed, increases fishing skill by 10 for 3 minutes. This skill bonus stacks with existing bonuses from lures and gear. That means the maximum possible effective fishing has risen from 527 to 537. The lager requires a Skin of Dwarven Stout and a Flagon of Mead to brew 5 drinks. The lager's raw materials are all purchased from vendors, at a cost of about 16s each. The recipe requires a cooking skill of 100 to learn, and binds when picked up.

Spun Truesilver Fishing Line
The line is used in the same way as High Test Eternium Fishing Line: Apply it to a fishing pole to permanently give that pole an extra +3 bonus to fishing skill. Spun Truesilver Fishing Line does not stack with High Test Eternium Fishing Line. Apply one or the other.

Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat
Cloth hat which gives a +40 Stamina bonus, +40 Spirit bonus, and +5 to fishing skill (changed 27 February). It is used thus: "Attach a lure to your equipped fishing pole, increasing Fishing by 75 for 10 minutes (10 minute cooldown)". In effect, a reusable +75 lure, with the same fishing skill bonus as the Lucky Fishing Hat. The hat binds when picked up.

The 2 Ring is rumored to be found within a Bag of Fishing Treasures.

Valuable minor/junk items include:

Ancient Coin - Sells to vendor for 25 gold.
Gold Wedding Band
Noble's Monocle/url]
Antique Silver Cufflinks - Sells to vendor for over 11 gold.
Beautiful Glass Eye - Sells to vendors for 18 gold.
1-3 Jaggal Pearl
1-4 Mote of Water
Shadow Pearl
Silver Statuette - Sells to vendor for 15 gold.

There are probably a lot of other less valuable minor/junk items found in the bag. For instance, I got the fillet knife in my first bag which sold for around 4G.

Just got Truesilver Spun Line and Eye of the Sea both in one bag, so if there is a set number of slots with set items in each, those two do not share the same slot.

It's worth mentioning that the pet buckets can't actually come from this item.

There's two bags of fishing treasures. One is this one, and you can get it from the Bait Bandits (blackfin darter), Felblood Filet, Shrimpin' Ain't Easy, and The One That Got Away (Nagrand mudfish) quests. The other one is also called "Bag of Fishing Treasures", but it can only come from the Crocolisks in the City quest. Only the bag from the crocolisk quest can have a crocolisk pet.

The baby crocolisk pets are not available from this bag, but its twin, which is only rewarded from the "Crocolisks in the City" version of the fishing daily. This particular reward bag does not carry the crocolisk pets.

To be honest I think they might have increased the drop rate of the Lager and the Journal because the first time I did the quest I got both. Or I may have just gotten lucky, but either way I was happy :P.

just great.... i look up the rumsey recipe and i didnt expect it to only come from a damn fishing quest. guess i'll never get the chef title.. fishing is the absolute most BORING skill to lvl. thanks a lot blizz. i got the chocolate cake recipe from a mammoth in borean. i have never gotten a recipe from the cooking dailies in dalaran. is it even possible?

Today I looted my third ... THIRD weather beaten fishing hat. I can't for the life of me get the Truesilver line. It's driving me crazy. Three hats (two of which are useless as I can't auction them) with a lower drop chance and I can't get one line? Only reason I continue to do the quest and can't loot it.

Just did this for the first time for a laugh, I went to Ironforge (did the Stockade achieve while I was there) got the croc, turned in, and opened my bag, and I got a lil pet, called Snarly, a little three legged crocodile. hes awesome.
