This leather ball can either be made with heavy leather and fine string, or bought from from Flik at the Darkmoon Faire, the young orc who chases around his frog. This ball can be tossed to other players, who get a message that they got the ball. The item appears in their inventory, and they can click it to throw it back to the person that threw it to them.

If you ever recieve a leather ball, make sure to throw it back!

Run to a busy flightpath (Stormwind) and throw at the people that are taking a taxi to somewhere else!
Watch as the little ball flies away.

You cant trade gold with trial accounts, but you can throw this to them and they can sell it for 5c at vendors. Good if you wanna help a friend out :)

It might want to be noted that throwing these balls does not use the global cooldown, so a druid could make a macro to use a ball, then cast flight form, allowing you to throw and continue to fly uninterrupted

Yeah, leather balls are fun to throw! I have them macroed on my 3 raid healing toons, throwing a leather ball everytime I 1)cast riptide 2)PW:S 3)Holy shock. Fun you say? It was fun until Blizzard BANNED MY ACCOUNT for 24 hours. Reason: Thrown excessive amount of Heavy Leather Balls. Seriously Blizzard! Banning an account for using an item the way its meant to be used? Get real! If throwing them violates the term of agreement, why is it in the game? These items along with other throw-able items are perfect for slowing down pesky banker competition.
Whilst they're AFK or running or at the mailbox collecting their auctions you just undercut spam throw these!
Works best with a friend banker/player helping out :P

Ask a guard if you're not sure. It's Finespindle's Leather Goods, on the circle of The Great Forge. It cost 20s for the pattern. He doesn't always have it. It's the supplier, not trainer.
The ball itself will only sell for 6 copper to a vendor. I heard if you throw it to a certain child in SW, it starts a quest. That's what is rumored on PVP...

I'm going to check it out now, and will reply again with my findings.

I've been told by one that the ball does not actually disenchant into some of the items in the massive list above. I'm at the proper level to get this recipe and make several and I have two high-level enchanters in my guild that are drooling over these if they do, in fact, disenchant into such a variety of items. Can anyone provide a solid confirmaton for or against this list?

So, 3 friends and I were bored in AB, because we were losing, and all we needed were the marks, so we ran into a corner and threw these around in a group of 4. In the process, we were threatened over 3 different games to be reported, because we said in BG chat that BALL PLAYING IS SERIOUS BUSINESS.

Not much use for these except to throw them around just for the hell of it. Kind of a cool addition though. Our server's leatherworkers went crazy trying to figure out where you learned it, but I was one of the first to find it...hehe. A person could've made a few gold at the very beginning by buying the pattern from the vendor before anyone knew where it was, and then selling it at the AH....damn, why didn't I think about that earlier...LOL.
