For those who are familiar with this quest, you can just let yourself die pretty much instantly after you pick up the quest. My reccomendation is dying by the mobs that spawn and automatically aggro you, not killing yourself on purpose.
I tested it, and the first 5ish mobs that were attacking me killed me and I completed the quest.

You die. You are supposed to die. The Quest you get after that, well... no use in warning you that Thrall calls you useless.

Okay I've tried this twice now. I die as expected, a quest thing come up in my Objectives. Before I can click on anything, it goes to a loading screen and then I get disconnected from the server.

When I log back in, I'm at "The Maelstrom" with Deathwing there. There is nothing I can do. No one else is here. No quests, no turn-in's, nothing.

The first time I eventually hearthed home, went back to the Twilight area, abandoned the quest and flew down into the octopus thing. This let me start the quest again; however now the same thing has happened.

I'm typing this and will report to a GM as I wait for my hearthstone to cool down so I can at least get out of here.

Edit update: After speaking with a GM, it appears it was an add-on, most likely "Auctionator" that was causing the issue. After removing the add-on, it finally worked.

I was about to die and got fed up so I just minimized the window and checked a few emails. When I opened it back up I was sitting on a rock alive and in the Maelstrom. Words can not describe my confusion.
