To Clarify a bit go back to Go'Bolar quarry after you get there look back towards the road you came in on and you will see a gnome standing atop a platform,even though you cant speak to him as soon as ya walk up on the platform an aircraft will land,hop on the aircraft and you are on your way.hope this helps some.

I had to complete a few quests starting with Sgt. Bahrum at Helm's Bed Lake. Since i was already 31 they were very quick and it also helped my rep.. Prior to doing these I could not board the airship and ran around trying to do every quest until I found the right one. Once you get to the airfield there are a few quests also. The dropping bombs one is fun and you still get the same amount of rep as a lower level.

Some of these posts can be a bit (unintentionally) misleading. You can't just hop onto the biplane to the airport; you have to trigger that by completing 3 or 4 quests at Helm's Bed Lake, after which it's painless.

Either that or just fly in on your flying mount...

You have to mount a plane that is back at the quarry. Just to the left of the inroad is a platform with a plane to take you to the airfield. You will find Commander Stonebreaker on the other side of the airstrip after you land.

To clarify for people with MOUNTS already, you can just fly there and talk to the npc, the airplane ride is not required.

[According to the plans you captured, the Dark Irons are planning a large-scale attack on the Ironforge Airfield! The council has moved most of our forces down into Dun Morogh to deal with the instability brought by the cataclysm, leaving our defenses weakened at the airfield.

We need a way to get you to the airfield quickly. Take the road back west toward Gol'Bolar Quarry and find Mathel Rustwrench. He should have a flying machine you can use. Go!]
