She is found on the north side of the lake, when you have talked to her you will see why it says east.

She is found north of the lake as mentioned before, and once you talked to her and entered her world, go back to the east part of the lake to talk with an NPC who's name I forgot. But a level 30 NPC. That's where you complete the quest.

I had the hardest time finding her and I looked every inch on the shore. To attempt to fix, I abandoned and picked it up again. Found her then. If you are curious or have trouble seeing her to /target Spirit of Kalytha

I can't find her. While searching, the ring buff disappeared. I still have the ring in my bag. What's going on?

The Spirit of Kalytha is located on the north side. Type in /target spirit of kalytha and it will guide you to her. Once you enter and view the world through her eyes, head east until you find the Archmage Selwyn. Speak with her. She'll give you a quest which brings you out of the 'other world'. Easily done.

Serious continuity error on the vision of the past: the Rocketway is there 10,000 years ago, when it wasn't there just 4 years ago.

I found this one really confusing. Thanks to all who've posted - I could never have done it without you.
To sum it up:
1. The directions in the quest are a lie. The Spirit of Kalytha is NOT located on east of the lake - she walks around a bit on the Northeast side, around 36,72.

2. You can only talk to her if you have a buff that looks like a ring (which you got from the quest)

3. The quest text lies again when it says "Speak to the others....." If, after you've talked to Kalytha, you run around trying to speak to the ghosts, it's possible you'll run right out of the phased area (like I did) and get killed,have to run back, and then figure out how to get the ring buff and find Kalytha again.

4. After you talk to Kalytha, just head directly south along the east side of the lake. At around 37,74 you'll see a dude standing in a shaft of light. That's Archamage Selwyn, and he's your turn-in for this quest and gives the next step in the quest line.

She's also not directly on the shoreline as the quest implies. On the north side of the lake is a sort of stone pavilion on the top of a small hill. She pats in a very small area on the top/far side of the hill.

Description

The runes on this ring you found are still legible: it was given to "Kalytha" when she was granted admission to the Academy. With the right spell or two, this personal trinket of hers is the gateway to her soul.

Take the ring back to Lake Mennar. Kalytha's spirit should now be visible to you on the shore of the lake. Touch her and the ring will allow you to see the world as she sees it, forever reliving her final hours. Probe her mind, <name>! Speak to the others and learn the secrets of Lake Mennar...
