There are many dying berserkers in the area. I got mine at 68,69. If you see dying soldiers and not dying berserkers keep looking. They are sure to not be far away.

I'm having a problem with this quest; I end up flying around looking for dying soldiers, and when I speak to them the only response I get is:

"Uhnhh... Don't.... bother with me.
I am... finished..."

.. and nothing more :/

I've tried talking to them several times, dismounting before talking, relogging, and so on and so on, but nothing seems to work. The weird thing however is that I managed to pick up one of the quest which this quest opens....

It's fact that the Thrall is trying to change the ways of the "old horde", though it won't be easy.. nevermind to say that warsong clan don't obey him.. but anyway it's also fact that the new horde isn't much different from the "old horde"

anyway:

-His dad was killed by a friend of Stormwind, that just happened to be allied with the Horde.
-Stormwind was burnt to the ground by the Horde.
-Lothar had to take him, Lothar became his new father figure.
-Lothar was killed by the Horde during a diplomatic mission where no hostilites were to be present.
-He was going on a diplomatic mission to meet with the Horde and try and bring peace, but eventually ends up being a slave and used in deathmatches.
-He still remained calm, he was still trying to remain nice.
-Horde slaughter the Alliance in Northrend "just cuz".
-Forsaken destroy the entire alliance regiment and slay Varian's best friend at the Wrath Gate.
-Varian wants revenge, Thrall says "Na bro, i'll do it k holmes?" and pretty much leads the rage to build.
-Varian enters the Undercity, sees humans being tortured and experiemented on and sees how the once proud and glorious kingdom of Lordaeron has fallen.

Any reasonable being would've acted sooner.

and no, it's not things of the past, horde do such things every day, even after jaina (omg i hate her..) helped the horde with the death of her own father..

First of all, yes, i agree Thrall is trying to amend what the Old Horde had done. But to be honest, the Alliance hasn't really done much to deserve our unconditional obedience and respect :|
Yeah, when the Old Horde came through the gates, they laid waist to everyone.. but that was in the blood haze of the Burning legion.
Then the battle continue on... And Warsong was one of the clans that preferred to see the Alli dead than to try and amend old wounds.
Yet what did the Alliance do? Make camps to capture and break the orc's spirits in very inhuman ways. Keeping them as animals. Not all of them were as "lucky" as Thrall was.
Who would really want to Ally themselves to ppl like those?
But I digress....

Something about the reasons you stated bothered me to no end....
-Yeah Varian was on a diplomatic mission... but when Rehgar Earthfury found him fighting off that croc, Varian didn't know who he was.. he had amnesia. Yeah, Rehgar trained him for battle in the arenas. But he never treated them (Varian, Broll, nor Valeera) as farm animals.
And when they were brought to Thunderbluff, Rehgar let them go into the Pools of Vision, knowing that he'll remember who he truly was and what he had to do... and that Feather? Both Rehgar and Hamuul (the elder druid who gave it to him) knew what it did. The orc let him choose whether to stay as a Gladiator champion and continue gaining riches, or actually going and fulfilling his true calling. Tell me, if he was such a slave, do you honestly think the Shaman would've let the druid give them a hippogryph feather so they could escape? yeah. (http://www.wowwiki.com/Varian_Wrynn)
-The Wrath gate was as much a loss for the Alliance as for the Horde as well. Just in case you're partially blind and slightly tard, the son of Saurfang also died. Many Horde and Alliance soldiers died. It was Putress' and varimathrass' fault. Not -the Horde's fault. Just to make that clear.
-And the Undercity event? We were there killing off Varimathrass, the real reason why the Forsaken had been split up and Sylvanas and many good Forsaken almost lost their lives. And many did not make it. So don't come here QQing about "Horde being the bad guys". We have reasons to be called 'bad guys'. yeah. And so does the Alliance.
-And you may have your reasons to hate Jaina. but she and thrall are desperately trying to find a 'happy-medium' in which the horde and Alli can be comfortable with.

By just simply utilizing the jelly located to the north of your heart, you'll know that the Scourge (and maybe the Burning Legion if they're still around) is the biggest threat now.

If by "all bgs" you mean "Warsong Gulch". Arathi Basin, Eye of the Storm, and Strand of the ancients are all neutral areas that both factions are trying to capture, and Alterac Valley is an alliance invasion for their "imperialistic imperative".

If anything, this quest illustrates the difference between the Alliance and the Horde. Here's what the Alliance sees when they talk to the dying soldier:

We attacked under cover of a blizzard....
The Scourge were caught off guard... our victory was certain....
Then... from behind us... the Horde came from nowhere.
They cost us... everything....

Here's what the Horde see when they talk to their dying berserkers:

Gathering... information.... on the Scourge.
Alliance forces appeared...
We took cover - waited until they attacked the gate,
then, we hit them from the rear.
Pinched between us... and the Scourge... it was too much for them...

Both quests have you kill the dying Alliance.

Now let's look at the turn-in dialogue. Alliance:

This area in my opinion, is the worst place to quest in Icecrown and if not all of Northrend. The agro range on the hulking abominations is ridiculous, and you have raised ally aimlessly running around, and minions that seem to come out of nowhere. Add all that and the fact that the place is so crowded, you have instant death every time you aggro one thing. and if you haven't noticed yet im just venting

You can boast about ambushing the alliance all ya want, but it doesnt change the retardation of it. Hmm...we are up against someone that can bring the dead to his side thus creating a never ending supply of minions for himself while the Horde do their little happy dance for killing a group of Alliance which increases the workload of defeating the Lich King and inevitably those dead, now turned ghouls, killing future Hordies and Alliance later. Hell, I'm a Horde and I think this was stupid on the Horde's part. Not to say I won't complete a quest to kill 5 Allies that are dying anyways for some easy gold...hehe.

Go complete the Wrath Gate chain in Dragonblight and watch the Cinematic, then participate in the battle for the Undercity. THEN you will understand why the Horde attacked the Alliance from behind, instead of helping them fight the Scourge.

**** DO NOT READ BELOW if you dont want to find out what happened at the Wrathgate event in Dragonblight... ****

Both sides were at fragile alliance with one another during the War against the Lich King, so they attacked the Wrath Gate together in order to break into Icecrown.

While the fighting was happening Putress (a Renegade Forsaken under the command of Varimathras) bombarded both sides and the Lich King, killing many Soldiers from both sides in the process.
Everyone had thought the Forsaken had betrayed the Horde, until you head back to your main city and hear the real story.

Sylvanas and all of the "Good" Forsaken were kicked out of Undercity, and Varimathras/Putress' Forsaken had taken over.

Thrall understood that the Forsaken didnt betray the horde, but instead was just a group of renegade forsaken.
Varian (the Hot headed Alliance King) was too ignorant to understand that it wasnt the Hordes fault for killing many Alliance Soldiers at the Wrath Gate. Alot of Horde soldiers also died along side the Alliance.

Blinded by Fury due to his good friends Bolvar Fordragons death, he layed Seige on the Undercity to reclaim it for the Alliance, and to kill Putress.
Unkowningly to Varian, Thrall and Sylvanas were planning the same idea, which was to reclaim Undercity for the Horde, and to kill Varimathras.

Both factions raided the Undercity from opposite ends, Horde killing Varimathras and Ally killing Putress, Varian charges into the Throne Room (Where Vari was hiding out away from Thrall and Co.) and exchanged some harsh but pointless words to Thrall and Sylvanas.

Varian then re-declares War, and with a few Soldiers he foolishly charges in to try and kill both Thrall and Sylvanas by himself, but before he would of gotten himself killed out of spite, Jiana ports Varian and his troops away back to SW.

Saurfang then enters the room and has a chat with Thrall, and Thrall mentions that the treaty between Horde and Ally is well and truely broken, and they are back to where they first started. At War with eachother.

So what being horde means you're a honorless cheap ass b1tch? Doesn't really seem to be horde style. I was kinda pi$$ed when i did this quest cause horde has always come across as the nobler of the 2 factions since they were freed of the blood curse.

They were just taking advantage of the moment, honorable/noble or not.

If you were at War with another faction, and you saw them completly defenseless and preoccupied and that was most likely the only chance you would have gotten, would you take the 'honorable' way out and leave them be, only to have the possibility of them coming back and getting you in the end. Or would you take the 'cheap' way out, and tacticaly kill them before they have the chance to strike you back.

May not be honorable for the Horde, but in a war you would most likely do anything to have your faction come out on top.

The utter selfish stupidity of the horde you mean? Not only did they screw over both sides (the alliance in the short run, you in the long run when your dead recon team comes back to bite you horde in the @%$), they did their assault wrong! You're supposed to wait until AFTER one side is victorious THEN assault the weakened forces. I have a horde character, and right now, I'm wondering how I can defect to the alliance after this fiasco.

Totally agree with BFGfreak on this one. In a conventional war, yes, people would probably do something like that.

@Direfen92 - BUT NOT WHEN YOUR MUTUAL ENEMY HAS THE ABILITY TO RAISE THE DEAD, thus adding to their troops, (who require no upkeep whatsoever, if I might add)! In addition, you still have the gall to backstab someone and call it "glorious/honorable"?

I raged over this quest so hard, due to the sheer stupidity of it. I'm both Alliance and Horde, so I've seen my share, but this takes the cake.

Also, what's up with giving captainship of valued assets, say, like 2 unique airships and then have them to endlessly skirmish over the middle of Icecrown when they could be pewpewing Scourge instead with that firepower?

Last, but not least is, WHY aren't the other race leaders doing anything to defuse this conflict? Tyrande/Velen/Magni could do alot to rein in Varian declaring war. Also, Garrosh undergoing a total character switch, from the emokid from Nagrand, being openly defiant and increasingly critical of Thrall just doesn't make sense to me. Where the heck are Vol'Jin and Cairne?( I won't even mention Lorth'remar/ Mekkatorque). Only time any of them even have a use is when they come out and tap the keg during Brewfest.

Hell, Blizzard is just focusing on 3 and a 1/2 leaders for character development (Varian, Thrall, Sylvanas and Garrosh, in that order) and neglecting the rest, which imho is a mistake given that Northrend provides so many storyline hooks that concern other races (e.g. Taunka joining the Horde; Ulduar for the dwarves, etc.)

You guys forget that the warsong clan are very warlike, they just want to kill everyone and dont think about the consequences.

Thralls horde is more peaceful and only sent the warsong clan to northrend when angered by the attack on Orgrimmar.

I have the feeling theres gonna be some more tension between warsong and the rest of the horde in the future. (Thrall and Hellscream have already fought before.)

I wouldn't expect anything less than this from a faction that names its capital in honor of one of the most hated war criminals in history (from Alliance point of view). Orgrim Doomhammer was responsible for taking up the genocidal campaign against the Alliance while NOT being under the ifluence of demon blood. He is reponsible for countless deaths, and the Horde praises his as one of their greatest heroes.

It's like the Germans naming their capital in honor of Adolf Hitler after World War 2. Honestly...way to rub it in the Alliance's face.

but the forsaken have many reasons for their "experiments". it says in lore that not only are some of them trying to find a "cure", but that most of the forsaken are allied with the Horde out of nessecity, not loyalty or values. they would be just as happy to "play with trolls, if they (rightly) belived we could give them a steady control to work with.

Go back and play Reign of Chaos and in the Orc campaign go to chapter 3- Cry of the Warsong. It pretty much show their true nature. Hellscream may have cleansed all of the Orc's blood (at least Orcs outside of the Warsong >_>) but nothing seems to have changed within the Warsong Clan...

This quest may not have anything to do with the lore and what would 'actually' have happened. It may be a reference to the Gankers who would wait till you were in a fight and then come kill you...or worse damage you and then stun you so the mob killed you; granting them honor and you a durability-death.

I really do not like the path Blizzard is taking this game; both factions (story-wise) are starting to act like the 'kids' that play this game.

And I'm continually astonished by the fact that Alliance players can't bloody well seem to read. There are as many if not more comments from Horde players condemning this action, right here on this very page. I'm a Horde loyalist and I despised this quest, there was nothing honorable or glorious or even intelligent about it; it was a pure Leeroy move straight out of the Garrosh Hellscream Handbook on How To Lose Wars. If he were as clever as he is trigger happy, the Alliance might actualy have something to worry about; fortunately for you, he does the majority of his thinking with his axe.

But that's not the point. The point of this quest is not to turn WoW back into the two-dimensional White Hats vs. Black hats scenario that early RTS Warcraft was, and people on both sides who are trying to argue that the Horde is evil/the Alliance had it coming are all missing the point. The purpose of this quest is to show the growing schism within the Horde. Garrosh's mindless, bloodthirsty attitude is capturing the hearts and blades of orcs dissatisfied with Thrall's vision, and threatening to undo all of the good Thrall has done for the past seven or so years. Looking at this as an isolated event is short-sighted regardless of which faction you play, but it's especially ignorant for Alliance to do it, because you aren't privy to seeing the pattern of bloodthirsty Garroshian orcs vs. mindful Thrallish orcs that's been playing out ever since Warsong Hold in Borean Tundra, and arguably since the pre-Wrath event in Orgrimmar. There's been a distinct theme of power struggles between old attitudes and new ways of life going on throughout this whole expansion with the Horde, and it's been as important a story thread as the actual fight against the Lich King. You see it again and again, in places like Agmar's Hammer and Conquest Hold. What happened at the Broken Front is yet another example, and Korm Blackscar represents the very worst of that Old Horde mentality, not the true Orcish warrior ethos. He most certainly does not represent the Horde as a whole, any more than Grand Marshal Garithos, Lord Blackmoore, Admiral Proudmoore or Fandral Staghelm represent the Alliance as a whole. There are heroes and villains on both sides, in positions of power and influence, and players would do well to remember that.

If you'd played WCIII, you'd realize that Sylvanas has undergone a hell of a lot of characterization decay. (So too have Tyrande and Jaina. It's annoying.) Play WCIII. Please, do yourself a favour. The characterization is lightyears better.

And once you have, you'll understand why us old bastids roll our eyes so hard at kids parroting Garrosh's epithets at Sylvanas. (You are all probably also the dim kids who think 'gay' is a really clever diss.) And why we headdesk at really screamy shrieky gung-ho fourth-wall-breaking factionboosting. I may FOR THE HORDE capslock cheerfully, but before my first account was hacked, my toons were split down the middle between factions.

Also, to the doofus contingent cheering for the idea of the Alliance of Lordaeron whacking the orcs-in-withdrawal: y'all are noisy little hooligans and have no idea what the Alliance of WCII and WCIII was supposed to be about. Your malarkey brings shame to us all what fly the lion banner, go jump into the lake by Theramore! XD All kidding aside, you need to play WCII, and play WCIII too, and watch carefully what happens to the Alliance of Lordaeron as time passes. WCIII is very much about the forging of a reformed Horde and the decline, HARD fall, and resurrection of the Alliance. And the Alliance very, very much devoured itself from within, in WCIII. This decline starts in WCII with the sellouts at Alterac, and it just keeps going downhill slowly until it all explodes with Arthas's going cray-cray. We see this downhill-rolling right from the get-go - when Medivh flies into the throne room everyone is sniping and griping and no one can agree (and Terenas has a migraine). Medivh is an outsider, and so no one listens to him except Jaina (who saved humanity's butts XD). The High Elves are rather insular, and there's really no diagram-drawing explanation for WHY that is or why they pulled out between the Second and Third wars...and then we meet Garithos and start to understand why they might have backed way way off.

There's a reason 'utopia' literally means 'nowhere'.

The Alliance circa WCII was a much different creature than the one we know now. WCIII shows us the evolution of it, and shows us very clearly the forces at play within it that led to its near-demise. Pride, infighting, racism and other prejudices...human evils.

The point is, no one has clean hands and everyone's a ganker. ;) I know that some Ally players hate when I bring up Garithos, but he exists. (I play Ally, too. There is no whinewhineBIAS here.) Garithos attempted genocide of the Blood Elves and did this AFTER their population was 90% wiped out by Arthas! He did this and he was Alliance. Does his attitude reflect that of every Ally player? Heavens, no. But there are xenophobic elements in the Alliance just as there are wanker gankers in the Horde. Go check out Counselor Talbot. Watch his scene. Listen to what he says. Watch people's reactions. Yeah, he's not what he seems to be, but if his discussion didn't reflect attitudes people HELD he would not have been as successful as he was in sowing dissent. If you need more proof, go get the breadcrumb leading to Surwich. Listen to what the guy says about Worgen and Draenei.

Azeroth is a world where anyone can be an arsehole or a hero. The Horde's being enormous tools here, no doubt. I facepalmed. But a bunch of numbnutz fanboying Garrosh and griefing the Alliance isn't necessarily indicative of the entire Horde's 'tude, just as Gaines and Co's attack on tTaurajo in the middle of the night isn't a reflection of the Alliance's.

Found one at 67,71. Apparently there are several lying around. After talking to them, they start a pvp-ish quest.

I found him at 68.7,69.1

I went to 70,64 but i didn't see him there. I think he is dif. locations, just flew around the battle field looking.
