This is a pretty easy quest though it has some annoying parts. First, if you haven't been to Halgrind (which you have by now) its north of New Agamand noted on the map in a dark green oval-shaped area. Walk in there, use the item and round up some of the humanoids, the idea is you need to kill 20 of them with this abom.

BE SURE NOT TO KILL THE MOBS TOO FAR AWAY FROM WHERE YOU'RE STANDING - or you won't get quest credit. Normal quest credit ranges apply here, make sure you're abom isn't too far away. Anyway, after you have them rounded up (probably good to go with 3-4 per round) you'll use your first ability on your pet bar (Looks like a poison). This causes an explosion and your abom is now dead, so you must resummon him, however - all the adds you rounded up are exterminated.

How long does this guy stay summoned? I happen to know of a few people who plan to never turn the quest in and just keep the abomination pet (these same people have been campaigning for quite some time now for an abomination pet) Naturally, these people would be happier if the abomination stayed summoned for, say, an hour or two vs. 30 seconds. (all right, I plan to keep the pet too, lol)

It lasts 5 minutes and you must be in Halgrind to use it.

So it'd be pretty useless to not turn in the quest. Unless you would like to go to Halgrind every now and again and scare the jeebers out of Alliance Players.

I know when I was doing this quest a few Allies ran around on their mount boggled.

As of last patch, mobs go in evade mode all the time, making it impossible to round up a lot of mobs for a big explosion. :(

You can get kills off vrykul that have gone grey, so don't try and round up too many if you see someone else in the area or they could steal them all off you. Still a very fun quest.

I was doing this quest, but I was unable to press the skills very frustrating! I managed to explode a few times but that took ages, glad there were other people around also on the quest. I have no idea why I could not press any skills

This quest appeared glitched to me. I rounded up three-four mobs, before I decided that there weren't enough mobs around to run further, so I just spammed the explosion. However, as I kept spamming it, it kept exploding, and I could control it untill I finally stopped.

Every time it exploded, I got credit. So I only had to spend 2 seconds after rounding up the mobs before I had completed the whole thing. It will surely be fixed soon

If you have bartender4 it could be the problem, or some other addon. It conflicts with the interface for some reason, but if you turn off your addons it will work. :) Good luck.

i also had problems getting it to work but i just logged out and turned addons off (running Quest Helper, Cartographer, and Necrosis) then it worked fine

if you use a bar addon, the explosion should appear on "bar 1".

If you have bartender 4 make sure you turn thew addon off while doing this quest or you cant see the abom's abilities... alot of the starting DK quests did this too.

I had the same problem as others not being able to activate any of the abomination's abilities, so I disabled my bar mod (Dominos) and was able to do the quest. However, when I logged out after completing the quest to turn my Dominos back on, it said I had only done 16/20 kills. So I had to log out again, disable and run the quest again for those 4 it cheated me out of.

I recommend turning the quest in before re-enabling your bar mod.

Worked fine for me. Very easy and fun quest. Just go around thunderclapping everyone in sight, and once you get 3-5 guys explode.

The quest text doesn't make it entirely clear, but you need to use the explode ability to get quest credit for the kills. Hacking the Vrykul down with auto-attack and Thunderclapping will not give you any quest credit.

I seem to have a different problem, which turned out to be a benefit.

I ran my abomination into the middle of 7 plagued dudes, assploded him, but they didn't die! But I got credit for exterminating them! And then they turned on me!

So I feigned death like a good hunter, and they went back about their business. Assembled abomination, lather, rinse, repeat two more times. Got all 20 dings in three rounds of this, but strangely none of them died! Last time my feign death was still on CD so I set an explosive trap and they all died in two ticks (851-1152 HP each) when they came to attack me.

Not as annoying as a lot of people report with button clicking issues, but ridiculously easy for an end-of-chain quest, and buggy in that the mobs don't die from the exploding abomination.

Quest was bugged when I did it this evening. When I transformed the first time, there were 3 mobs, when I used the first skill, my questhelper said I killed 18 already, so I found 2 more, and I was done! :)

I've done the quest with four characters so far. Paladin, Shaman, Warlock & Hunter.

Worked perfectly on the first three - paladin, shaman & warlock. Pretty sure I didn't even dismiss pets on the Warlock. And I have *not* updated/changed any addons since I did it on my Shaman & Warlock.. (I typically only swap addons every 3 months or so & have a folder dated to record when I swap 'em ;) ... sad.. but hey =) ).

But on my Hunter... I get the bug people're talking about above - could use buttons first time through, but can't use buttons any try after. In short, I just can't make the damn thing work, no matter what I try.

IMO this is bugged on Bliz's end & quite possibly class-dependant bugged.

Edit: Just did it on a DK. Still haven't changed addons. Worked perfectly. Which suggests to me that the quest really doesn't work perfectly & is potentially bugged.

Easy quest.
Run up to halgrind and stand close to the center. there should be around 10 Plauged vrykul there. use the ambomination Before you run in yourself, as it cant be assembled in combat.

Thunderclap, and explode, your half way there. wait a min, and repeat!
25150 exp at level 70, 9 gold 40 silver and i chose the plate to vendor :)

This quest seems to be bugged for me, to my own benefit. After doing 4 the hard way, I learned I could simply spam the "1" key next to a single mob and finish the entire quest off that alone.

Bugged for me aswell. Rounded up about 10 at a time, blew them up. I got credit for the exterminations but the mobs stayed alive tho the quest itself said I've killed them. After that, they ran for my toon. Wasnt a problem to kill them off (ONCE AGAIN!) tho. Annoying as hell. Addons wasnt the prob as I did it with the original UI leveling an alt.

I didn't have any trouble with it, and I have QuestHelper, Cartographer, and Auctioneer. You just have to make sure you aren't in combat.

This was the most fun I've had since the mechanical Yeti quest in Everlook. :) I ran after some Alliance punks just for the hell of it. Bwahahaha...

If you go around to the southern edge of Halgrind, there's a spot where you can jump onto the roof of one of the buildings (use an epic mount). If you summon from there, the Vrykul that don't die from being hit (meaning all of them... you'd think if they were "exterminated" that they'd just die right away) can't get to you.

This quest was bugged for me as well, at first I wasn't able to thunderclap but when i gathered up my mobs, it wouldnt let me explode for awhile and when i did, the mobs stayed alive and i was still in the Abomination screen, the mobs just stayed there and i was able to explode multiple times, each time I was still getting the quest completed.

Quest worked fine for me.. and I actually enjoyed doing this quest.
You simply use your abomination assembly kit.. walk up to the dragonflayers.. and kill them by blowing yourself up.
Very simple.. kinda gross in a way.. but fun :]

One thing I noticed with this quest

While you are controlling the abomination, you can cast buffs on it while still maintaining control of the abomination. As a priest, I was able to buff my abom with Fort and power word shield before sending him off to his death

I encountered a bug when doing this- If you jump after the cast is completed, but before you take control of the abomination, you'll stay floating in the air, repeating your falling animation over and over again. Very comical looking.

I didn't feel like letting the mobs close enough to attack me, so I just stood on the cliff at 52.1,56.1 to the north of the forsaken camp, summoned my abomination, and took him off the cliff down to the plagued vykrul and exploded them. This technique is a little inefficient, because it takes a few more times summoning the abomination than you might need if you ran directly into the plagued vykrul village, but it might really help if you are a tad bit squishy.

I have a different problem. my bar only has 2 items on it---control and cancel. I have been killed twice already because it wont explode. I have logged out, cancelled all my add ons and still only 2 buttons any one else have an answer for this or is it now bugged.

i had the problem where i'd round them up and the explosion wouldn't kill them, and then they'd come after me

after trying a few different things, i found that having the abom melee each one as i rounded them up, made the explosion work and get credit for it

Seems kinda buggy as of 4.0.6

I'm a rogue, using this mob gives me the two skills I need. Plagued Blood Explotion and Thunderclap.

Thunderclap doesn't seem to do any dmg at all to the mobs, neither give them the debuff It's supposed to give. The Blood Explotion skill only kills 2-3 targets at max, making this quest way longer than it needs to be..

Thank you s1lencer, your method works. Hit each one with a melee attack and the explosion will take them out afterwards. I was having the same problems (thunderclap and explosion both doing nothing to the mobs) but this works.

Some things to note about this quest:

* controls for the abomination display via the pet bar instead of the vehicle bar. This confused me since I have that located out of the way as a Paladin and the controls are pretty small.
* mobs need to be damaged by right-click attacking them once to get kill credit. Thunderclap and aggro isn't enough to get credit.
* you can get cumulative credit over multiple pulls. there's an ordinary range limit to aggro, so pulling all 20 vrykul at once is unlikely since they will de-aggro once your abomination is out of range.

It seems that you only get credit for killing them when you make the abomination explode with it's Plagued Blood Explosion.
Easy, run his dead ass around aggroing the mobs, Thunderclap them then explode. Lather, rinse, repeat, cha ching.

Launched the abomination, ran around the camp aggro'ing a bunch of mobs, hit the self-destruct button and...nothing. Logged off and back on and it worked fine the second time. Obviously Blizz will need to debug this.

If you're using a bar addon make sure your pet bar is enabled or you can't see his two abilities (like me!)

Well, here you are! Our friend's going to be somewhat... unstable. So I suggest not putting him together until reaching Halgrind.

Once you're there, use the abomination to round up as many vrykul as you can before self-destructing.

Come back with whatever's left once you're done. I can always use more body parts!
