Tip: To get to Stormwind fast(ish), take the portal to Blasted Lands and fly! :)
Also, you can land ON the Wickerman itself to avoid getting killed.

Dousing the Wickerman will flag you for PvP so "be quick about your business" if you are doing it during peak hours.

Being a mage, I popped Invs. walked behind the wicker thing, doused the the fire and fly off. Hope this helps.

you can also take the zep to grom gol and fly there. having the flying broom will help you get out of there a tad faster

The Wickerman is just outside the main gate.

Perhaps its worth noting that you can combine the quest Stink Bombs Away with this one.

Just drop a bomb 25 times and then log out mid-flight.

Once logged in you will be at the Elwynn Forest Graveyard.

If a Death Knight, set up a Death Gate prior to throwing the Dousing Agent. You won't enter Stormwind to reach the quest objective so you won't be unnecessarily flagged beforehand. Throw the stuff on the Alliance Wicker Man, click Death Gate, YEAAAAAAAAAH!

This quest, as well as A Time to Build Up are a reference to a verse in the bible found in Ecclesiastes 3. Just to quote the line: "A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;" (Which I only know because it was referenced in the Pern book series.)

I have some suggestions for those who don't yet have the ability to fly. It may seem like quite a task to get this thing done without flight, but lemme tell you it CAN be done, and I have done it. As both Horde and Alliance.

When doing this quest as an Ally, I noticed that once I got to Lordaeron, most of the activites were laid out so that players were facing the Wickerman. As Horde, we have somewhat of an advantage because all the Ally activities have them facing AWAY FROM the Wickerman, except the one where they throw stuff at it.

So I took my lvl 47 Tauren to Grom'Gol and traveled up the coast to Westfall. I stayed to the south and went east, crossing into Elwynn Forest far south of any actitives, quest sites or guards.

If you look at a map of Ewyn Forest, you will see just below the central range of mountains the sideways-figure-eight-shaped lake, Crystal Lake. It is safe to come north here, just watch for guards when crossing the main road that runs east and west. There are alot of low-level Murlocs in the lake, quite harmless to anyone above lvl 10.

Continue north and when you come to the mountains, go west across the creek and across the road that goes north-south. Watch out for guards on this road.

Once you cross the road, stay close to the edge of the mountains and continue northwest toward Stormwind City. Stay in the foothills as much as possible as you will get quite close to the road as you approach the city. Guards patrol here also. There are low-level Cutpurse mobs near the mountains, but again, they should be no problem.

Follow the mountains and you will come up right behind the Ally Wickerman just outside the city gates. Don't get too close as guards may shoot at you. Most everyone else will be looking the other way. Do your thing and hearth outta there! Good Luck!

You can stand far enough away (on a PvE server) to not get flagged by stepping into Stormwind, and douse it. Piece of cake.

** Edit: Also, has anyone else noticed that this is slightly unfair on a PvE server? I've done this daily as both Horde and Alliance, and its definitely easier for the Horde. Granted the trip sucks either way but, the Horde's wickerman is actually IN the Ruins of Lordaeron, so you get flagged when you go in. But the Alliance wickerman is located outside of Stormwind, in Elwynn Forest. I've seen plenty of unflagged Horde just march right up, douse it, and walk off. Unfair!

I play on a pve server and was unable (to complete) the quest ~~without flagging..~~ It kept telling me invalid target

i thought it was not being flagged but today I had the problem again even though i was flagged.

I'm starting to suspect its a loading issue.. i didn't allow time for everything nearby to load (there was a big crowd of people both times).
i'll see if this is the case (I turned my settings down to fair from max lol)

It didn't matter how long i waited. I tried inching closer and that proved to trick.. I was far enough away to use the douser but too far for it to hit.. weird.

Do not try to fly from UC straight to SW with 310 flying while reading these comments, I just died from fatigue. So, save yourself the repair bill and switch back to wow right now.
